A beautiful experience. We were driving from Auckland to Taranaki and didn’t want to just have chips or a sandwich. We are a family of five with varied dietary needs. Two of us are completely vegan and it is always hard to find a place that tastes good and caters to all of us. This place had beautifully cooked meals and the chef was able to make the dishes we want into vegan dishes. The spice level is perfect, the flavour is amazing the service was excellent. I would be certainly stopping here again when I am travelling through.

We stopped by for dinner on the way back to Auckland from Ruapehu, The menu is decently sized and does have some interesting items on it that I haven't seen in other places like an eggplant masala. For many of the dishes, you can also choose the protein you wanted. I went with the lamb Madras as well as a mango lassi. The lassi was interesting since it didn't have a mango flavour to it. The curry was quite nice. I also tried some of the eggplant marsala and venison curry and both were also nice. The venison did come with lots of bones though. We also got some of the momo to share and they were interesting, deep fried with a strong ginger flavour. We ate our fill quite easily with curry, rice, and naan. It was a nice place to get a really filling dinner.

We are visiting from Adelaide & stopped here for lunch. The service was AMAZING & the food ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! The chef prepared a special vegan dish for me & the server suggested a lunch time deal (which was also adapted to be vegan). We highly recommend this place & the friendly, accomodating staff. We’ve visited India a couple of times & the food we ate today was equally as tasty. If we lived here we would definitely be regular customers. THANK YOU for your outstanding service & food!

Absolutely fantastic food. Definitely one of the best Indian dishes I’ve had. Had a Kadhai Chicken Mild and it was perfect spice and the chicken was super tender. The garlic naan was also great.

The food at Tandoor Tavern is always exceptionally delicious, the servings are generous, the staff are lovely, and the service is excellent. It's also one of the only places in town that lets you order online and offers delivery. Highly recommend dining here.

Eat here often, only thing I’ve noticed that I don’t like is sometimes when I order a hot curry the spicy level varies from I can’t handle this to pretty much a medium spicy level. They have so much cheese in their cheesy naan and sometimes there’s barely any. So a little inconsistent but I still enjoy coming here on a whole.

Forgot we were in New Zealand. For a moment, because the food tasted and smelled so authentic we had traveled to Australia for Indian food. Why not India itself? Because borders are still closed to India

Excellent service and great atmosphere. They happily gave my children and I a table at 7.30 on a sunday night. The waitress took the time to explain different foods to my kids. We had onion bhaji and samosas, with butter chicken and saagwala chicken. Kids got BC with no spice, which suited their mayonnaise tastebuds- loved it. A delightful experience with nice people, delicious food, and an insight into another culture. Highly recommend families dining in. We will be back to try something different next time.
