We were passing throughout Paengaroa on the way back home to Rotorua. We were too early, but they actually opened early for us! We were very impressed with the food and the setting. The food was delicious, well presented, generous portions and prompt, friendly service. The pâté was superb, prawns were beautifully prepared, chicken and pork main courses were lovely. I thoroughly recommend this cafe. It was the best meal we have had recently, and we will certainly be returning. Well worth the journey to get there.
We decided to head to Paengaroa to try the local food, and it was outstanding we got a takeout pizza & it was one of the best I have had, will definitely be heading back to dine in!
We are locals from Tauranga,so we thought, why not go Paengaroa way.. We found this beautifull cafe.. Awsome menu, spectacular food, great services and atmosphere was chilled. Its very different, small, lots to look and the people are lovely.. I had the salmon with prawns, nothing left on my plate, my partner had chicken with bacon, wow the sauce was to die for!!!Reasonable prices for quality of food, I would recommend to any1, if its just a Couples romantic dinner or a friends get together, this is worth the drive from Tauranga..

Went there for my wife's birthday, first time we'd been there.A most pleasant evening, dining room small and intimate but well
worth the 35klm trip from Tauranga. The meals were as good
as any I have tasted. We had a fabulous waitress who attended
to our needs all night with a brilliant smile. Chef enquired as to our meal , my wife had a rabbit stew which you don't often see
on other menus and I had a pork belly dish, the entrees and
desert were perfect. Went on September the 8th and will
certainly return recommend it to anyone
This was the first time that we had dined at The Trading Post Venue in along time - Paul has done a fantastic job - his food is awesome - both quality and presentation is top class - service by his staff excellent and the venue homely. We were not rushed through our meal - nice for a change to relax and enjoy. We dine out on a semi regular basis in the local Bay of Plenty region and until now - have not found a restaurant that has compared to this at a price that is affordable and offering excellent quality. I had the Trading Post recommended to me on a couple of occasions but until now, had not made the effort. Well done to Paul and the team
This is a fantastic little restaturant tucked away in Paengaroa. Set in a lovely rustic old house in a country setting with an open fire. The ambience and staff are warm and inviting and the food is fantastic!. I had the stuffed mushrooms as a main and all I can say is WOW, the best I have ever had!. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and every one. Keep up the good work Trading Post. I will definitely be back.
Great meal nice surroundings and reasonably priced. It seems classy, comfortable and country - would recommend to anyone. After having a stressful day at the office (end of year books) and as it was my birthday treat to go there I immediately felt destressed and relaxed when we sat down to our meal. There was no blaring music to hype us up and we actually had a marvellous family conversation and we all felt relaxed in the surroundings. Although it may seem small in comparison to other restaurants it is more intimate and great for romantic get togethers as well. Go there and be impressed.
Fantasic service from Paul and his team. The food is FANTASTIC and the atmosphere great. We eat out several times a week and this place is our number 1. well worth the drive from Tauranga. Great for both for Lunch and Dinner.
Our extended family went here for a meal out over Christmas. Everyone was impressed with their food. Seriously good food, in a pretty little place, with sensible pricing and reasonable portions. Definitely one to visit in the Bay of Plenty.

However the lighting was far too bright for a dining atmosphere and the food was pretty bland. Though beautifully presented. Looking forward to a tastier range of food and a more intimate atmosphere next time. My partner really enjoyed his brunch as well
If you want the real deal, with exquisite authentic Italian flavour and hospitality, you MUST come here. The service, the atmosphere and most of all the food, is nothing short of spectacular.

The food took us straight back to Itlay, and we left with huge smiles on our faces!

A delightful cafe providing excellent service, food and indoor and outdoor dining options.
Same great place with lovely new owners and a very inviting menu. We had some incredible pastries and a coffee and hot chocolate. It's been a long time since I've had a pastry that nails the crispy, flakey, butter goodness all at once. Can't wait to come back and try some of the Italian dishes on the menu.
Wow!! Absolutely scrumptious!! The leek olive and tomato cheesy focaccia flatbread. I would literally drive out of town to get this again! It was the most delicious focaccia that I have ever had. I bought this while traveling through the town alongside 2 cappuccinos and a cannoli which was delicious too, the coffee was good too even my partner was impressed. The new owners were friendly and chatty. Although I wasn't staying that outdoor and indoor area was very inviting. Lovely touches inside of beautiful wares of the decor shop next door. It felt homely and sheek at the same time. I would highly recommend stopping in there for food whether you are staying in or getting takeaways.
We've been a couple of times since this place has changed to Osteria and both times been impressed. Great coffee and the pastries are amazing. Cant wait to try everything else on the menu 😁

Rather a nice stop for a taste of genuine french ambiance. Menu is very limited but what we had was nice. Suspect they would get much more repeat business and becomes a destination with a wider choice. Definitely recommend though and the surprise shop next door was a real bonus.
Had a great coffee and very good cabinet food this morning. Definitely recommend and we will come again. Staff very friendly and nice to sit outside on a warm winters morning

A gastronomic delight. A real gem. How lucky are we to have The Trading Post! A lovely menu, impeccably fresh first rate produce and creative plflavour matching = wonderfully flavoursome food at a good price. We can't fault this restaurant it really is so good. Staff are knowledgeable and polite and the live music on a Sunday is entertaining but never intrusive. Always a wonderful experience.

I got the salmon eggs Benedict & waffles. Salmon was nice, but the egg/holly was watery, which made the meal a bit soggy. I liked that they had sautéed spinach and rocket on the plate. Food overall was pretty good, but the coffee was awesome and I'd come back for that. Service was also very average.
