Have only tried their fish and chips and fish burgers, they do a good job with the fish and chips with generous portions. Their fish burgers also come with a generous amount of fish fillets, very good value for the generous serving sizes.
Love the fish and chips and takeaways from Fishtown..very efficient friendly staff and the fish and chips meals not too oily. We only choose Fishtown for our takeaway fish and chips in Palmerston North everytime :-)
This is a great takeaway. Awesome fish and chips. Will definitely keep coming back for more. They have a good range of food, and it's pretty quick too, even they it's often busy.
Awesome food, always delivers - great chinese and the best fish and chips in town. The buffet has lots of options and they are very tasty too. Lots of chefs cooking but very popular, so best to phone order first or the wait can be a bit long.
Best tasting Asian buffet I've found in Palmy. Really nice staff and quick to replace whatever's run out. Good prices too. Go there all the time :)
Been going there for years. Mainly for their Roast Pork Fried Rice but their fish & chips are just as good.
Ownership has changed hands recently in early July 2023 probably but looks like they have retained the cooks & staff.
My other recommendation would be the seafood fried rice.

Really good selection of Chinese and fish n chips that is competitively priced. Service friendly and efficient in what must be one of the cleanest takeaway stores I’ve visited. Parking is limited outside but we’ll worth the effort ✅

The building itself felt a bit like a liminal space, though there weren't many people in there at the time, which would have contributed to that feeling.

Impressed by the outstanding cleanliness of the building we walked here for a pleasant dinner meal. This is not your usual restaurant, however it has seating whereby you can can order a meal from the buffet (choose your size, Small, Medium & Large) and select what you like to eat. While you are eating you meal other people are ordering or picking up their Takeaway meal. I certainly recommend this Takeaway/ Dine in restaurant. It has a great selection Asian and European style food.
Food and customer service was great. Prices were very reasonable too.
We really rate Fishtown. Many places have gone out of the buffet option so I appreciate being able to choose my own dish. I've had better Chinese, but paid twice the price. For an affordable option the food is reasonable, fresh, and there's plenty of variety.
Ownership changed recently, in July 2023 I believe. I know costs have gone up like everything else. But now their fried rice is $19.80 ( unless it was a mistake ). It was only $17.30 2 weeks ago! Other items have probably gone up too.
At this rate, I think customers are going to be going to other takeaways.
This is the best in my opinion and I just had a meal from there I always eat from the self-service side where you do your own plate and take away it's the best. If you're looking for a take away shop in Palmy try Fish Town 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
