Cute beach cafe. Was disappointed that I wasn’t able to get the French toast due to a 40minute wait (although understandable on a busy Sunday afternoon). Opted for the banana bread instead and shared pizza and fries. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was lovey also.
We got to Piha for the amazing and famous beach. Stopped by this little cafe around 6 in the evening. Not only does it offer stunning views, the vibe and atmosphere of the cafe really provided a good experience towards the overall experience of the visit to Piha. We ordered a pork belly pizza with pineapple, sweet potato and shallots which tasted amazing.
They have nice cream (dairy free ice cream)!! Need I say more?!! I think I felt like a child in a lolly shop - overwhelmingly happy!! Sit inside or outside, staff are chill, great vibes, great location to take a break on a sunny day!
We were starving after our bush walk and beach walk so popped in here to see what was on offer. We were surprised to find beautiful organic options, great coffee and local drinks. The lady that was serving was gorgeous and we chatted to her while she heated up our food. There were places to sit and eat on the enclosed deck and it we felt like we were spoiled for choice with the locally made food. Totally recommend this and also had a good range of basic supplies if you are staying on in Piha.
Very expensive place, has no competition though so fair enough. Nice and modern place, lots of seating. I came during winter was a bit chilly and quite quiet, I assume it gets busier in the summer time. Got a takeaway pizza to share with my friend, was REALLY good.. again extremely expensive but very good. Delicious and crunchy, lots of flavour and toppings with a bit of rocket on top which really made it. I will be coming back to get the same pizza.. maybe one to myself this time!
Definitely a really nice place and obviously in a nice location! The food took a bit long to get to us but it was worth the wait and the money. Also we didn't mind at it was pretty busy that day!
see lots of lovely locals here, enjoy the breakfast and brunch here. pie and coffee are very delicious, salad is fresh, dessert a bit sweet for me. nice cafe at Piha beach.
Food and beer were very good (even though the veggie things looked a little odd). Ordering was chaotic. The menu seemed to be all over the place and the line formed in different directions at different times.
Super yummy chicken burger!!
Staff were okay, she mixed up the order and we didn't get what we wanted. Our burger might have gone to someone else and they had to make it in a hurry as we didn't have enough time to eat anymore. She apologised and that was okay.
That kind of burger, I haven't tasted yet from anywhere. This rating is only for burger. Friendliness 3. Efficiency 1.
Popped into The Piha Cafe for brunch this morning after a stroll on the beach. Located close to the beach, this cafe has the perfect backdrop.
I started with a flat white, coffee was Kokako and very tasty. They have multiple cup sizes, and offer a 'latte bowl' which looked like a soup bowl! I also ordered the omlette, that was filled with spinach, button mushroom and blue cheese served with a small side salad. The omlette was quite nice, I appreciated they were generous with the cheese. The salad was a bit disappointing, mostly due to the lettuce.
The service wasn't anything amazing but no complaints either. Great to see they stick Nice Blocks!
Love The Experience, Love The Brand.
+4
Great view and good food. Coffee hit the spot and not too busy on a week day. I can imagine that it would be very slow on a busy day. No complaints here.
Great coffee and food with amazing surroundings. Plenty of fresh menu options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. I can recommend the pizza, brioche, fish pie, salads, coffee and scones. Will be visiting again.
This unique cafe is the one place we always take our friends and family to whenever they visit from overseas. The food and setting never fails to blow them away. It's also great to have somewhere cool to get decent food and a proper coffee on a day trip over to Piha.
Saturday evening we decided to skip cooking and visit The Piha Cafe for dinner. We found an oasis of yummy food and beverages. Contented tourists and locals were kicking back in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It was the best pizza I've had in ages and there's a selection of seriously awesome salads - and I'm not talking boring lettuce. The Pinot Noir got the thumbs up from Dad and we finished with a cheeky dessert of vegan chocolate cheesecake (a non-dairy slice of unforgettable chocolate goodness) Overall we thought it was great. It's an unpretentious beach cafe, with friendly people who care about making great food and making you feel at home. We'll be back.
We had the perfect Friday afternoon after spending the morning canyoning. So beers and pizza were the order of the day.
The weather was hot, the beers were cold, the pizza tasty and the service quick. We only left to avoid more sunburn and the arriving Friday night yummy mummies club
We spent the day at Piha recently, unfortunately it was windy and a liitle wet so we tried the controversial cafe.
My soft shelled crab sandwich was awesome and my friends steak sandwich was tender and tasty ,prices were very reasonable.
Our Piha experience was the richer for this place . Enjoy
Called in on Sunday... the place was buzzing!! We were shown to our table, and given menu's very quickly..
HUGE choices.. pizza, menu, and cabinet.
Great wine / beer selections.
The Cafe was very busy, therefore my friend and I accepted there would be a wait on the delivery of our orders. We were so pleased these come quickly, allowing us time for a second ( great )coffee, before the drive back to the city.
I envy the locals in Piha.. having such a super "local" would be a treat!!
Fantastic, cant understand the other review.. Soup was spectacular, mint pea and ham, home cured salmon with scrambled eggs, Breakfast muffins the best I have ever tasted
Coffee was excellent, and apparently they will be doing gourmet pizza soon.
A local feel with fantastic tastes.
A must for anyone visiting the Auckland area, we will be back often.
Busy at the weekend but worth the trip
We had a few beers together and a great dinner at Piha Cafe with a friend!
They have several local beers and kombucha on tap, as well as bottled drink options.
They have a great coffee bar, and good options for brunch, if you prefer to go there earlier in the day.
Our dinner was pretty fantastic! My wife had the risotto, which was prepared perfectly and flavorful, and I had the baked flounder dish served with veggies and hand cut chips. The flounder was flavorful, moist, and delicious!
The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered our drinks at the counter, then they were quickly delivered to our table. Our entrees took about 20 minutes, since we were fairly early and the kitchen had just opened.
The restaurant has free parking out front, indoor and outdoor seating, and even a charging station if you have an electric car!
We were not disappointed at all, and will definitely return here for drinks and dinner soon! We also want to try out the brunch menu and coffee, too.
They have pizzas on the menu, and available for carry out, also!!
Good range of cabinet food, even late in the day (kitchen closes at 3pm) on a summer weekend day. Menu reasonably varied. V good coffee & some food local beers.
Open, light, indoor & outdoor seating is comfortable & not too crowded.
Lots of staff, friendly, prompt service.
Food is a bit pricey, but it is well out of town.
Great pizzas, awesome beer, unparalleled location, super friendly staff...stop reading and just go there.
We visited last evening after the Mercer Loop walk. Super hungry, so opted for the chicken chipotle pizza... terrific crust, sauce & toppings (love coriander). Beer was much needed after the long hike. Our order for fries got delayed and we were a bit tied on time so the staff promptly refunded us. It's small acts like these that really stay with you and Piha Cafe sure did a great job. We would visit again for sure.
It is a lovely place to go for breakfast and lunch, dinner. Service was good and didnt have to wait too long. Piha is right next to the cafe so u can walk aling our beautiful ocean beach. The road there, rhough windy is a beautiful drive. People are aloud to bring theirdods to the cafe as long as they sit outside in the closed in outside seating
We came here to walk our dogs. It was a pretty busy lunchtime at the café. We queued for about ten minutes and were told that all the food on their menu would take up to 40 minutes or more to be ready. To save time, we end up with the ready to serve food in the cabinet which wasn’t that bad though. Again, probably because they were too busy, their waitress could only say”I’ve really got no idea”when we want to know when our order would be ready. The café’s got a very good location and you can have a beach view when you sit at its outdoor area. There were a flock of sparrows flying around. It could be a bit annoying when they were flapping around the leftover on tables. Would like to come back and try the food on their menu.
Quaint little coffee shop and cafe with a nice view. More expensive than I would have hoped, but being remote, it makes sense. Decided instead on just a little carrot cake cupcake to tide me over since their choices of small bites wasn't the best (old looking pizza and $5.50/slice didn't seem worth it). This desert was good at least so I'm well content.
This place has a lovely homely vibe.. things are mismatched. Nice friendly staff kinda feels like a place that all the locals go to.
I had a nice soup great food. Close to the beach. Parking is tight
Sites, smells, location, views, staff, drinks, food, music... This place has it all (except plenty of front parking, but more parking is a short walk away). Really enjoyed the burger and fish we got here. Loved it being super close to the ocean and beach. Great place to take a load off and really soak in the area. Would love to go back one day!
Delightful little cafe near the beach. The staff are very friendly and the menu is great with plenty of gluten free options. We had the eggs Benedict with free range bacon, which is a winner.
Highly recommended for the food and beach side atmosphere.
Lucky I read other reviews and didn’t go for the burger. The grilled fish is really good. Overall nice place to rest and fill up while in Piha to visit the beach and waterfalls.
Nice food and nice atmosphere! Only 4 stars because service was alright. Took time for staffs to clean up the tables, and water cups still had a lot of dried stains.
I had lunch there. Everything was just soooo good ! Not too salty, not too fatty, not too sugary ;) Their terrasse in the sun is really nice. If you choose well your table you even have a little view on the beach.
Of course, service is slow, like anywhere else in NZ. Food was worth enough waiting :D
Food was good, but no seafood on the menu. Not sure if seafood usually is on the menu but yeah, i kinda thought there would be so i was a bit bummed about that. Service took quite a while, but the food was fabulous and worth the wait. Yum.
Met some lovely piha locals too ❤
Friendly service, Delicious brioche, and the cappuccino was nice. Covered outdoor area is fine even in the rain. What a great way to start/end your day at the beach!
Lovely way to finish a day at the beach, great food, great coffee. Bright smiles. Beautiful view.
