My fav , must do place in Queenstown. So difficult to choose what you want as everything looks so tempting and tastes divine đ
The staff are so good too.
Recommend the hot chocolate and ice creams!
Also good views from top
Seriously the best chocolates Iâve ever tasted in my 28 years of life, favourite was the gold chocolate and the chocolate rama, highly recommend this place for anyone with a sweet tooth. Yum!! 5/5
What an experience! Definitely worth trying Patagonia for a dessert or hot drink! Would be great to see more DF options other than sorbet, but on the whole an amazing place to come. The group I was with couldnât stop raving about their ice creams afterwards đ
Absolutely delicious. A must for chocolate lovers.
Patagonia is basically sugar and more sugar and itâs absolutely loved for it.
When we last lived down this way it was located a little further along the waterfront on a much smaller corner venue. The current site is larger and with an upstairs offering, which doesnât appear to give it any more room than before because itâs popularity has merely filled the current site.
Basically if you need a sugar hit then you canât go wrong with Patagonia, but on the busiest of days be prepared to wait a while as the lines of people wanting to eat an ice cream in the middle of winter can be long on some days - who wouldâve thought an ice cream line would be a thing in Winter? But when you see their ice creams youâll see why, although theyâre not cheap!
With an assortment of flavours to choose from including both sorbet and standard ice creams, you can ask for your cone to be covered in chocolate under one of their chocolate taps, covered in sprinkles, cookie crumbs or even popcorn and then filled with your choice of scoop.
On the other side of the counter is a range of chocolate slices to appease the fussiest of chocolate fans. Meanwhile upstairs, you can watch as some of the offerings found downstairs are prepared through a large glass window which exposes part of the cooking process.
TIP for novices, if you just want coffee and the ice cream line is long, skip to the right-hand till at the front of the ice cream line to order drinks only.
It can get very busy and very noisy in Patagonia so be warned that you may struggle to find a table - but the coffee is as good as many in Wellington!
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE CHOCOLATE FONDUE. I was staying in queenstowns for 3 days and ive had this fondue everyday.
Love from india, mumbaiâ¤
Delicious icecream, great flavours and very high quality. Super rich, so two scoops MIGHT be a bit much if you've just had a big dinner (speaking from experience!). Yum, would definitely go back
Decent sized scoops and a crunchy quality waffle cone. 5 star rating for the quality of their icecream. They definitely know how to do their icecreams, and I donât think you could go wrong with any, all the flavors are rich and creamy, tangy and fresh for their sorbets. If I would recommend one; their Patagonia nut range is definitely worth it!!
Service and queue flow could be improved though.
I visited Patagonia twice on my most recent trip to Queenstown, once for ice cream and the second time for hot chocolate. Iâm a big fan of both the hot chocolate and ice cream here.
They have an extensive range of ice cream flavours including quite a few award winners. I highly recommend the mascarpone cheese & fruits of the Forrest ice cream.
I also love the hot chocolate here. Itâs rich, smooth and creamy and the perfect way to warm up on a cold day.
I highly recommend you check out Patagonia for your dessert fix in Queenstown. If you plan to eat in I suggest checking out the upper level seating area, the views are beautiful. I rate Patagonia âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ out of 5.
One of the most amazing hot chocolate in existence. He Nicciola hazelnut spread is to die for. Yummmmmmm
A high quality dessert place with amazing views of Lake Wakatipu at the 2nd floor where you can enjoy your ice cream. I got the basil and orange sorbet and the coffee ice cream. In my opinion, I prefer the coffee ice cream but both were really tasty. I keep going back to Patagonia because of their waffle cones. Theyâre so crunchy and fresh tasting, I reckon itâs one of the best waffle cones Iâve tasted.
Very busy but definitely a nice place to sit and have a hot chocolate. Despite the cold weather my kids still insisted on having ice cream. They loved it so much we had to go a second time before heading back to the hotel but this time we brought some goodies to take home.
Chocolates, coffees, drinks, ice cream, sweets and VIEWS! This Patagonia outlet is our absolute favourite chocolate stop! With possibly the best view is Queenstown, it's hard to beat! NZ$9 for 3 decent sized chocolate plus an additional $30 for coffees and Churros really are priced well and of course, they taste delicious!
A must when you visit Queenstown, Patagonia Chocolates is always jam-packed with tourists and for good reasons. With all their unique flavours of ice-cream, itâs difficult to even choose one for yourself which is why you can test out different flavours. Once youâre able to choose one or two flavours, you can also head on upstairs to watch one of their workers make their own chocolate which are on display downstairs.
Need ice cream while strolling the beauty of Queenstown city ?
Patagoina is the answer.
It located in front of the lake, provide many varieties of ice cream.
You can tried before ordered it.
This place is full of mouth watering deserts and has a huge variety of colourful Icecreams and chocolates.
Churros over here are really tasty and crunchy. The biggest plus point of this place is its beach view location.
This is a must visit in Queenstown for any sweet toothâs! They make their own chocolate and have ice cream as well including DIY ice cream popsicles. I chose the chocolate macadamia which was extremely decadent with a freshly made waffle cone.
Loved it. The ambience, quality of food and service would tempt one to visit this place often and often. Chocolate volacano cake was the perfect and wise decision in cold weather.
Such awesome ice cream. Had an ice cream every day of the vacation. Staff were friendly and the shops scoop is huge. You can go upstairs for some awesome views of the lake too.
Ice cream was delicious, and so were the all the cakes and pastries we had. This shop is meant to close early at 9pm but they still seem to be quite busy past that time.
One of the best ice creams I've had around the world. We came here yesterday and got the purple and white flavour, mango and raspberry. It was so good that I had to come back the next day. This time it was coconut and blueberry. Excellent again!
Don't forget you can always ask to try to flavours before you choose.
With a huge selection of ice creams they generally excel in creamer more chocolate-y and rich flavors rather than their sorbets in my opinion. With make your own ice cream block stand, desserts and chocolate options; Patagonia is a must visit for all tourist and visitors of queenstown!
Such a cute little cafe located in the heart of Queenstown. They chocolate truffles were delicious, we decided to buy a few and take away to enjoy later. They offer some hot and cold drinks as well as some dessert options. The ice cream also looked good but we couldnât eat anymore. A nice stop for a sweet treat fix.
Delicious ice creams. The Belgium chocolate sorbet, which happens to be vegan, was majorly epic. All the other sorbets are vegan too so thatâs cool
Many people mentioned their hot choc as one of the best hot choc. After trying their ice cream, I decided to have this popular hot choc. One small cup costed $5.50. Indeed, the chocolate was rich and thick. It was amazing!!!
I was told by my friend that this is a must visit in Queenstown. I had their boysenberry, strawberry apple sorbet. It was so nice. The decor is stunning the staff are friendly.
This is by far the best place for creamy ice creams and sorbets (although I admit I have yet to try the sorbet of Fergs- review to come). But the queues here speak for itself and the fact they have 4 branches in Queenstown itself. Had the Patagonia Dark chocolate ice cream with macadamia nuts and added toasted coconut sprinkles on top - bliss đ
The bad news first: my order got lost in translation and I got something completely different to what I ordered.
The good news: What I got was much better than what I ordered, so I'll call it even.
They've got an excellent variety of deserts to suit every sort of sweet tooth. If you like Ice Cream after dinner, this is the place to go!
Prices are surprisingly good too.
I saw a lot of people coming out of Patagonia with giant ice cream cones so I decided to go in to have a look. All their beautiful desserts caught my eye! I got the Tramontana ice cream and it was so tasty! The waffle cone was also very crisp. It costed $6.50 for a single scoop which I thought was slightly overpriced. Another thing I have to say is that there aren't many seats inside the store, especially on a rainy day. Overall I would definitely recommend Patagonia for a delicious treat!
Beautiful modern decor with plenty of natural lighting, this place is spacious with two levels of seatings. You would either be mesmerized by the continuous flow of three chcolates (dark, milk, white) through the tap, amazed by the wide selection of ice cream and pastries, or wow-ed by the different types of chocolate on display at the back side of the counter.
I went with an eclair and hot chocolate to drink. The eclair was almost too good looking to eat, the standard eclair pastry was topped with a thin layer of chocolate with tiny waves of dulce le leche. Needless to say both the eclair and hot chocolate were both sinfully good.
After seeing tons of people crowding this place every time we pass by, we stop in for a quick peruse before heading off for dinner, and decide then that weâll save ourselves for an ice cream here on way back. So glad we did! The place is still going strong 90 mins later, but it doesnât take long to be served. There are lots of interesting flavours to choose from, and my son opts for vanilla cookies, while I go for the Mascarpone Cheese and Fruits of the Forest, plus Patagonia Dark Chocolate and Macadamia. No regrets with those choices, and the prices are reasonable for the generous scoops, plus the sugar cones are really crisp.
Beautiful place with lots of tempting options for dessert. We tried deluxe hot chocolate which was nice. We will come back here to try other options
The best ice cream I may have ever had. Dulce de leche was my preference every time. Amazing flavour without being too sweet. Even though it was 0 degrees outside we always made room for the generous portion of amazing ice cream.
The chocolate here is not food, it is magic. Most places insult the beauty of chocolate by an overload of other unimportant things. But at Patagonia they worship chocolate and rightly so. The options here are crazy from chocolate to pastries to ice creams, that's where the staff comes into handy. If you're struggling to decide like me ask for Danielle and she will most definitely help you out. Cheers guys! Will come back definitely.
From Australia !!! Soo good!! Hit the dessert spot . So many choices and so little stomach space haha! Just wish they stayed open later. Will definitely come back to New Zealand
The hot chocolate was definitely a winner. My kid really loved the ice cream on a stick and the ice cream wasnât too sweet when I tried it, which was to my liking. The store close to the Qtown mall had a second floor with a killer view. If its not too busy, you have to go there and sit down, enjoy the view with your hot chocolate
5 years ago when I came to Queenstown, they didnât have this two-storey cafe but ta-da the new place has the killing view ever! (Old place is still there, just next door).
Lots of flavours for icecream, iceblocks and desserts so it really gives people a headache to choose what to eat.
In the end I chose vanilla and cookies icecream in cone (apparently it won the gold prize for this flavour previously)
One scoop in cone is $6.50 and itâs massive! And the view from second floor is the best. The cafe was warm so that you could enjoy your icecream without being freezing cold.
The icecream was a bit too sweet but the vanilla and cookies tastes were so strong (no wonder they got good prize)
Definitely worth paying one more dollar to get a cone. I donât know how to describe the taste of the cone but itâs different what I have tasted in other icecream place and it tasted like some kind of cracker (?)
Anyway itâs nice and goes well with the ice cream.
Thoroughly enjoyed their store in Arrowtown so figured we had to try the Queenstown Central store and again our visit was a pleasant one.
Coffee was again good, yes I was surprised again and very happy to drink it whilst enjoying the great view outside of the lake and the sun dancing on the mountains.
Their deserts look amazing... surprisingly we haven't tried on yet but there is always tomorrow đ
Food (chocolate): really good đ
Ambience: 70%
Service: 72%
Coffee: 83%
Best ever ice creams here...just couldnât get enough of it. We went for the white milky chocolate with roasted almond!! Out of the world..so went back for a second helping! And the view from here is awesome, too. Chocs etc bit pricey, seating area is scattered and packed!

Great chocolate and Ice Cream store. Their Ice Cream has lots of flavour and their chocolate is Hand Made. You also can see chocolate making in there.
Nice view. Friendly stuff. Ordered ĂŠclair and flat white, nothing surprising for the sweet treats & average level coffee. Good choice to kill time. BTW WiFi here is quite poor.
As we were walking around Central Queenstown being tourists I could tell Patagonia attracts many customers. It proved to also be loved by the locals. Decided to give it a visit and there was an impressive menu of dessert items you could even enjoy for breakfast. The girls working there were heaps friendly! I tried different flavours of their ice-cream and bought a very generous serving to enjoy. Definitely a place to remember!
Queenstown is a stunning place! Picture postcard scenery, with brilliant blue lakes at the feet of rugged mountains. We had noticed lots of people with extremely large ice creams wandering around the Queenstown lake front. It was not too difficult to track down the source of those ice creams â Patagonia Chocolates.
Founded in 2005 by a couple of Argentinian chocolatiers, Patagonia has expanded from just chocolates to offer coffee, desserts, breakfasts and house-made artisan ice cream.
Around 20 flavours of ice cream, sorbets and frozen yoghurt, many based on traditional South American and Italian recipes. Patagonia uses only fresh ingredients â no artificial flavours, colours, emulsifiers or preservatives.
Serving sizes in the house made waffle cones are very generous, which means great value for money â a single scoop will be enough for most people. Loved the dark chocolate, the passionfruit and the mango yoghurt.
And donât stay inside to eat your ice cream â enjoy the great outdoors!
The churros are pretty good but the ice cream and sweets are amazing. They have really creative flavours of ice-cream and all the ones I tried are delicious.
Best sorbet I have ever tried! A must go in Queenstown. Everything in the cabinets looked delicious, we went at about 9pm and it was still open!
Awesome service especially for a very busy and touristy place. Ice cream was delicious. We got the banana split and the chocolate and macadamia. Perfect combo. Scoops were huge and can feed at least two to three people.
Wow dessert place!!
Tried at lots of branches in South Island. Quality is same everywhere
Queenstown branch is awesome!!
The views, the atmosphere, the interiors, everything is good about this place
It has both outdoor and indoor seating but I would recommend sitting outside as it has a beautiful lake view. Ordered some freshly squeezed juices. Perfectly balanced flavours but the temperature could have been much cooler.
The stunning view at Queenstown is accompanied by drooling churros at this place. What a beautiful ambience it has got. The friendly staffs serve us amazing churros. What I had at this place is churros, what rest all had at this place churrrrroooooossssssđđđ so yummyyyy !!!!
The ice cream here is out of this world!!! I tried the dark choc and macadamia, boysenberry sorbet and cookies and cream and I love them all! This is definitely a place all ice cream lovers should visit when in Queenstown.

Patagonia Chocolates is such a treat! Everything is so presented so beautifully, I had a hankering for a hot chocolate and figured that this spot would do it well! I loved the hot chocolate, it was too rich but the chocolate flavour was lovely. Do recommend visiting Patagonia Chocolates when in Queenstown.
Great ice cream and sorbets. Perfect location. Nice ambience. Definitely a must visit. Service was very friendly with all the free tastings. Should try the chocolates next time.
We stopped in here for a sweet treat, we had the chocolate volcano cake with a scoop of ice-cream....sooooo good! We also had freshly squeezed orange juice, although the food was good, it was a shame about the no smiles from the staff!
I tired a coffee ice cream which was amazing, but what made it for me was the waffle cone! There was also a range of other flavours that friends had tried and they really liked it too. Also the waffles looked and tasted amazing too
I had been there after spicy yummy dinner. We can try all what they have. I choose cookie something. It made me calm down on my mouth. Just good because ice cream is always right:)
One of the best ice creams ever had. The taste of each of the flavour so original and unique. Travelled all the way from Auckland to Queenstown and was amazed when a friend asked to visit the place.
They've got the power. Very nice coffee, South Island style. Good roast, well crafted and served hot with an additional touch of flavour. Great if you have been suffering Auckland brews for a few years. And the chocolate. Enough said. If unsure, just buy. You won't regret your visit. Cool in winter outside if no sun.
There wasn't a large variety of flavours as Ms Ferg gelateria, but there are still plenty to choose from. I tried the tramontana flavoured icecream, it was nice but not creamy enough for my liking. I'd probably come back for other desserts.
Hahaha I ordered two ice cream ballsđone is vanilla with cookies, the other one is strawberry, both of them are tasty, I think the kids there around me are jealousđ Good dessert after burgerđŚ
Great location in town with a commanding view of the lake. Good to warm up with a coffee and hot choc. Kids loved watching them make the chocolate upstairs.
A dessert place that can't be missed when you're in Queenstown. Patagonia Chocolates serves an extensive range of desserts including gelato, ice cream on Popsicle sticks, chocolate fudge, & desserts. We were recommended to sit upstairs although when we arrived the upstairs area was closed. As soon as you walk into the store, the lights and decor make you feel like you're in dessert heaven. Â I was not able to give a full rating as when I arrived as most of the tables were empty but not cleaned (dirty dishes from previous customers).Â
Between three of us, we ordered the Chocolate Volcano pudding (came with vanilla ice cream) & the Chocolate mouse. I found the desserts to be very rich but delicious. Unless you have a sweet tooth, I would recommend one dessert to share per two people. I would highly recommend both desserts we ordered with the chocolate volcano pudding winning my vote by a tiny bit. Enjoyed this place and looking forward to being back here again.
Probably one of the best Ice Cream and Dessert places I have been too and I've been to a lot as I have the biggest sweet tooth. They have one of the best flavours dulce de leche. When my wife travels to Argentina she always brings home a jar of that bad boy caramel. I didn't realise there was an ice cream devoted to that flavour. Thank God for Patagonia Chocolates. $6 for a 2 scoop the first night in Queenstown and $5 1 scoop in a cup the second night and I added white chocolate sauce for an extra dollar.
I'm thinking about having ice cream every night till I leave haha
Love Patagonia Chocolate!
Their hot chocolate is amazing! I went there when my friends were wandering around Queenstown for shopping and I couldn't resist to order another round of hot chocolate. Sweet!
This place has some of the best ice creams , frozen yogurts and sorbets . I tried two flavours the blueberry frozen yogurt and raspberry sorbet , they are to die for must try and one can never have enough of this place .
Very busy ice cream, dessert & chocolate shop right on the waterfront. There's heaps to choose from and you can also sit upstairs to eat while watching them make chocolates. The ice cream was full of flavour & very generous with the serving sizes
Tried the sorbet here; quite nice and interesting in flavour but nothing outstanding in my opinion. The place is relatively busy but fast moving. Unfortunately it became a bit messy to eat when the sorbet melted through the bottom of the cone despite being a cold night! The waffle cone could be a bit thinner. I would prefer a brittle crispness.
Best hot choc we had in Queenstown. Lovely ambience and friendly staff with warm smiles. One should never miss it before taking a walk to lake
We tried the ice creams and hot chocolate. The ice creams were quite nice, but nothing out of the ordinary for me. We tried the berry and mascarpone, fig and mocha creme flavours. The hot chocolates were very rich and delicious although on the sweet side. I'd definitely recommend this joint for a relaxing environment and nice desserts after a day of traveling :)
We came here for a little sweet treat and to our PLEASURE they had SUGAR FREE CHOCOLATE! How fab is that? They had every variety you could think of and they weren't vastly expensive for the quality you received. Will return. Also had some ice cream which was good - but I would return for the chocolates.
We came here today & got the icecream on a stick dipped in fresh couverture chocolate & cookie crumbs, it was so delicious & fresh. Sat up top & enjoyed the view while we got chocolate covered faces like a child demolishing it.
The icecreams are amazing! I had to have 2 of them. I tried the raspberry and white chocolate and chocolate chip combination. Their icecream is creamy and not too over poweringly sweet, perfect after a nice dinner!
Where did this chocolate shoppe suddenly spring out from? It takes up prime position at the bottom of the Queenstown CDB on the water's edge where a clothes shop used to be, and now one can buy all manner of chocolates, truffles, slices, and a gelato selection. It was late at night when I visited and it was brimming with tourists trying to buy gelatos even though it was freezing outside :-) There is even a travel shop inside here. Upstairs is more seating, but since this venue is only a week old, not finished yet. If you are a qualified or unqualified chocolate eater, then this is a definite stop!
I visited this place at least once a day during my stay in Queenstown. It's seriously the best chocolate store in New Zealand - It reminds me of places I have visited in the U.K :) :) The mocha drinks are to die for and the chocolate brownies are AMAZING.
Spent 4 days in Queenstown and visited this place 2/4 days. Their icecreams are the best! Banana split won my heart and their hot chocolates are amazing! Best youll ever had - u tried both lavender and ginger hot chocolates and they were simply divine! Unforgettable
It is always an experience to have ice creams in real winter and one will not be disappointed with the variety in this lovely little place off the lake in Queenstown. We had Strawberry, Dark chocolate and Dark chocolate with macadamia and mascarpone with fruits of the forest flavours. They were just superb and the quantity given was also more than adequate. Highly recommended.
Nice hot chocolate. Churros were crunchy and yum. Nice and warm inside and lots of window seats to look out at the stunning view. Quick and friendly service.
This store offers ice cream , churros with chocolate sauce, hot chocolate ,chocolate bars amongst other chocolate and coffee things .I tried fresh churros with chocolate sauce and hot chocolate which was delish .the following sunny day I tried a ice cream which was quite good and really enjoyable ,bit pricey on prices though so not cheap for chocolateholic
The ice-cream gelato was nice and pretty big for 1 scoop. We went to both cafes in the airport and the one in central Queenstown. The fruit salad was quite refreshing and nice before getting on a plane. There were quite a lot of nice looking sundaes and fresh food
Its a must visit ice-cream place in Queenstown.Â
Ice-creams are so amazing that you will comeback again for more.Â
There hot coffees are great, they keep good varieties as well of same.
A big must order is the hot chocolate. Ordered one in CBD and another at the airport and the consistency is the same. It's served hot. Soothing and every sip is incredibly good. The ice cream is absolutely delicious. I sampled the chocolate, strawberry and lime I think but settled with mascapone and berries. Not so sweet creamy and really very good. Will try more flavours next time.
Just go there!! Don't be put off by the weather. If it's too cold still go!! It's heated inside. If it's warm, grab a cone to go and stroll along the lake side!!
Both coffee and ice cream was great. But if their staff could show some smile to the customer, then it would be perfect. Stayed about 2 minutes I front of the chocolate shelf, but ... I was been turned a blind eye.
Love this place. Perfect position for people watching by the lake, the number of flavours meant we never got through them all, and everything we tried was amazing. The coffee was distinctly average, but it's obviously not their focus. They're crazy busy at most times and open til late which means perfect for an afternoon snack or late night dessert (not many other places are devoted to dessert and open late in Queenstown). So happy to see one in Wanaka too although I wish it were open later!
A group of us visited Queenstown over the Christmas holidays. On our first night after a lovely walk around the botanical gardens, we headed into the main town in search of some delicious ice cream and Patagonia Chocolates seemed like the place to be.
Located in a prime spot right on the waterfront, it is a bustling place, popular with the locals and tourists and there was a very long line! The ice cream choices are endless - my favourite flavours were their award winning Patagonia dark chocolate with macadamias (which had the same consistency and flavour as a rich chocolate mousse), the cream caramel and passionfruit.
Staff are friendly and welcoming and worked well under pressure considering the first time we visited was Christmas Day!
They also sell chocolates, hot drinks, a range of desserts and 'chocolate shots'. All of the chocolates were well presented and looked delicious.
There is ample seating both inside and out. They also have free wifi, so just ask for the password when you pay at the counter.
Overall, Patagonia was a great first foodie experience in Queenstown - I will definitely be returning!!!
I'm so in love with heir ice creams and thick shakes... It's THE PLACE for chocolate lovers out there!! No flavour will disappoint you.....
Can you really go wrong with ice cream? Probably not, but these guys definitely go for gold with their dig and they've got plenty to show for it.
The flavours on rotation are creative, quirky and absolutely terrible for indecisive customers like myself. Fortunately you can rely on the good people of The New Zealand Ice Cream Awards to direct you as the tubs are littered with awards.
I had a double scoop of mascarpone with berries and banana split (both gold winners) and when I held the cup it almost gave me muscles, because boy are those scoops massive! The mascarpone had a nice tartness to it which was off set by the rich sweetness of the banana split. Yum yum yum! Perfect partner to enjoy sunset by the waters with.
Pretty perfect ice cream on a hot summer day. We had their award winning ice cream as an after dinner treat. We tried their banana split flavour with the Patagonia dark chocolate and macadamia flavour in a cup. These flavours are a great combination together!
Not the biggest fan of the banana split generally but this ice cream had me converted. The banana flavour didn't have an artificial taste to it at all.
The Patagonia dark chocolate flavour was decadent goodness with macadamia bits in it. I liked that it wasn't too sweet.
We also had their blueberry frozen yoghurt flavour in a waffle cone. This flavour was refreshing and creamy. The waffle cone was quite hard and thick which was disappointing. It was a nice surprise that the bottom of the cone was coated with chocolate inside.
Another great local eatery.
This is probably one of the most popular places in Queenstown. It does not require any introduction, marketing, adds or reviews. Just arrive on the city, ask about this place and you will know what I'm talking about. We had a couple of chocolates bars to take way, a Chocolate Mouse Cake and 1 Crepe filled up with Chocolate Ganache and a Tramontana ice cream. Absolutely amazing, rock star place !!!
Mascarpone cheese + berries of the forest, a must have golden award winning Gelato here!!! ⥠I enjoy it everytime I visit here, 6th time having this~
Seriously amazing iced chocolates and icecreams. I only deducted half a star because staff are not the friendliest in town, but you have to ignore that as the food is good. Perfect position on the Lake and always a must do when visiting Queenstown
Generally know for their chocolates, they also do ice cream. Pretty tasty ones at that. The hardest thing to do is choose what flavour you want since there is about 4 that you really want to try (and they give tastings too).
Nice big scoops and the cone has chocolate at the bottom so any melted ice cream doesn't dribble down your shirt.
Staff were friendly and helpful and were offering the tastings when we were looking confused.
The desserts were alright ... Just here for the wifi đ.
Every time I go to Queenstown I always look forward to getting a sweet treat from Patagonias. This time I went for their dark chocolate and macadamia icecream in a cone and I tell you, there were no regrets. So delicious and creamy with nice macadamia chunks. The cone also had a nice surprise of chocolate at the bottom. The scoop and cone were both a more than reasonable size. It was another great experience!
This is definitely the best ice cream in New Zealand! But the biggest piece of advice is always choose the flavours that have won awards. We tried the others too and we're definitely not nearly as good!
Fantastic little chocolate cafe and great service! While the chocolate was a little too sweet for my liking it was still great and the menu options were endless!
Churros of Patagonia , five days of consecutive eating , wife gets bugged but they were delicious. One the edge of the lake, easily accessible when U take one of those mandatory adventure rides. Good layout of chocolates and ice creams. Couldn't have them as I was not sure they were vegetarian . Wifey loved it . Good place to go if you are around .
The back story: Housed on the corner of Lake Wakatipu, Patagonia boasts magnificent lake views, chocolates and desserts. Having "discovered" Patagonia several trips ago in Queenstown, I frequently return to it everytime I visit. Located only in the Queenstown, Arrowtown, Wanaka and the queenstown airport
Food: Beyond the obvious selection of handmade chocolates, Patagonia also has a breakfast menu of muesli, fresh bread and croissants ($9 - $13) and desserts ranging from the more traditional banana split, cakes and waffles to dessert shots (test sizes of different desserts at $5 ea), decadent sundaes ($11 ea) and beverages of hot chocolate, coffees and milkshakes. But Patagonia goes beyond this to include South American confections of Alfajor, Mentitas, and Higos (figs) and ciruelas (prunes). With the owner from Patagonia itself, and the cacao and coffee beans from various parts of South America, Patagonia brings to you tastes from the exotic to the lakeside of Queenstown. On this occasion, I had their award winning dulce de leche gelato along with banana split (also an award winner). Their dulce de leche is nicely done - reflecting the authentic tastes of the dulce de leche you might get in South America. Not too sweet, and with a nice caramel-almost toffee flavour. Combining it with the banana split proved to be a good combination, akin to banoffee. The churros here are another dessert not to be missed. Crunchy deep fried doughy good nice with a sugar-cinnamon dusting, these churros are fresh and not oily in texture. Once again an authentic dulce de leche dipping sauce accompanies this or alternatively you can try for the chocolate dipping sauce. There are also dairy-free options of sorbets.
Setting : With large windows round the cafe and ample seating outside, the views are magnificent providing picturesque scenes of the lake. Large tables provide sufficient seating for larger groups with counter tabletop seats on the side for a quieter seating. The area is sufficiently spacious though it can become packed at times when large groups / tourist parties visit.
Occasion : Authentic South American chocolatier providing all-day sweet treats from classic hot chocolate drinks and refreshing gelatos to more lavish plated desserts and sundaes. Perfect for sweet-tooth cravings !
Revisit potential : 10/10
Nice cafe..i like their chocolate product very much. However we couldn't find any seat in the cafe, we had to sit outside. It was very cold.
Very nice hot chocolate, must try.
Nice environment - face the water. Friendly staff.
Mocha flavour gelato is quite tasty.
Definitely will come back.
I saw that Patagonia was rated 5th in New Zealand best Gelato/Ice cream on stuff.co.nz (forgive me if I have this completely wrong as I don't quite remember the article content) so decided to try it out when I went down last weekend. I loved how creamy their ice cream was and how rich it is in flavour. Mmmmm. I'll be back.
Indulgence at its best. Whether you want to enjoy some sweet treats, a cup of coffee or one of the best ice-creams in NZ, while enjoying the sunset, Patagonia is the place you need to visit.
Deliciously smooth ice creams with intense flavours. Scoops are dear but generous.
Loved it pigged out after the marathon really cool spot...A1
Divine!. The sugar free dark chocolate and hot chocolates here are divine! My dad also really enjoyed his icecream from here. My only criticism would be that perhaps the flavours of the hot chocolate were a tad subtle, but that's very minor and overall, it was absolute heaven in here!
Best ever. Without a doubt the best ice cream i have ever had. With about 20 choices it was a hard selection process but I ran with Banana Split and Patagonian Chocolate with Macadamias in a waffle cone. The flavour was seriously amazing and it was smooth, creamy and perfect. The place was still full at 10pm at night and I'm sure could stay open even later. You have to try the stuff. The hot chocolate also looked like chocolate soup so I may have to venture back...
Doubt many people will check reviews for a place like this before deciding whether to go or not but one of the best dessert places around, great coffee, ice cream selection and amazing cakes. Pretty busy at peak times but nice atmosphere and location inside and outside
This is a very popular ice cream parlour that is busy all day long. Â However do not let the queue to put you off as it does move fairly quickly. Â Â Patagonia Chocolates offers my favourite ice cream flavour and that is the Dark Chocolate with Macadamia. Â Â Ice creams here are rich and creamy as you would expect from good quality ice cream.
Patagonia chocolates offers more than just ice cream and sorbets, but also desserts made to order, delicious thick hot chocolate, tea and coffee, and chocolates.

This outlet is bestest of best i.e. best ice cream in new Zealand which has some very good ice cream parlours
We had one scoop of banana flavour and other scoop of chocolate one...both were quite rich in taste, texture and freshness..Ingredients used were quite fresh
I really miss their ice cream after coming back to India
this outlet is in front of Lake, and one can sit outside and enjoy ice cream with breeze from the lake and can also a get a beautiful view of the lake
I will always cherish fresh ice cream of NZ and will miss them
Not only do they have mouthwatering sorbet ice-creams but their 'cookies n cream' variant is the best I've tasted anywhere.
On a rainy afternoon by the wharf few dishes are as uplifting as the crunchy waffles with fruits, and churros with dulce de leche - oh so gratifying! That warm toasty crunch paired with gooey chocolate and the tingling acidity of berries; such is happiness on a plate.
The down side is their limited seating capacity, which on a busy day ensures that people have to polish off their plates while standing. However prompt service and delicious servings more than compensate for the seating configuration.
Though a non-traditional pairing, the 'cookies n cream' scoop complemented the perfectly made waffles rather well; much better than the 'dulce de leche' variant of ice-cream which was cloyingly sweet. Strongly recommend it.
First time here. Super busy. So much to choose from. We had 2 ice cream and a Coffee sundae. Waited over 15 mins for my sundae and my beeper still no sound. Asked the young girl behind the counter, she checked right away and came back with my sundae. Said sorry, it was left in the lift and no one took it out. All good, she apologized and i got my very yummy sundae. Will recommend this place.
One of the best places in all of New Zealand for desserts m, especially ice creams.. their milk chocolate topping is to die for.. i strongly recommend trying out just plain simple milk chocolate topping.. costs only NZD 3! Yes.. unbelievable.. and the tastebis divine!
Famous ice cream shop in Queenstown.
Although it is a chocolate store, ice cream and sorbet are also popular. Even the single size was a bit large for me, but delicious.
The ice cream shop is must visit and one of the best Ice cream in Queenstown (arguably in NZ) the quality and quantity is best for the money you pay. Always rush. Great place for family and kids and there is plenty of space to sit and enjoy your Ice cream. The view from the top floor is absolutely stunning. A must try if you visit Queenstown. Highly recommended
Amazing place. Location is brilliant, with great views from upstairs. Coffee can be a hit and a miss, ok one day bad the next. But the range of deserts is next level. Definitely worth a stop, even just to see their range and chocolate taps.
Ice cream & chocolates are good quality but expect a long wait in line!
Great gelato at great location. They have amazing hot chocolate too, great for a cold day. It's very popular so hard to find a seat. They have another one around the other corner which is more spacious.

Absolutely delicious icecream and other desserts! Definitely worth a stop!
Their chocolate icecream is dangerously smooth and extremely decadent - a must get in my book

Local institution. Must visit when in town. Unlimited chocolate on tap. Bit pricey but make up with quality. To die for views from level 1 . You also get to see the chocolatiers at
Work. Free WiFi for 1 hour. They also do beverages as well as full break fasts. Lovely staff members. Plenty of seating inside as well as outside.
A lovely shop right next to the Lake Wakatipu. The sitting upstairs is facing the beautiful lake. The coffee, the chocolates, the ice-cream, the ice block and the cakes are all attractive and good to have.
