Loved this pub! food was actually incredible and very generous portion sizes. We were keen to finish dinner with an apple crumble but the kitchen had unfortunately closed. Music was a little too loud but live music was good.

Decent Bar in Queenstown
Had nice jugs of beer and ciders with huge sharing platter. Everything seemed dry and over cooked but they weren’t too bad with beer.
When we visited Queenstown, all restaurants were booked out or packed so we decided to try Pig and Whistle. This is a classic pub in the heart of Queenstown. The music was loud and the place had a good vibe. I enjoyed my roast beef and vegetables, the yorkshire pudding was delicious. Not a bad place to visit while you're there!
After a long morning of exploring town, we happened to stumble into Pig & Whistle for lunch. The inside of Pig & Whistle has a very cozy British pub feel and multiple TVs to watch sports. It was way too gorgeous out, so we decided to sit outside on their patio.
We ordered the 'Brixton' Bangers & Mash- Traditional beef sausages served on a bed of creamy mash with peas and topped with homemade gravy, the Seafood Chowder, and some beer. If you're looking for cheap beer, this is a good spot to grab a jug or two at only $8NZ a jug!
The seafood chowder was different from what I'm use to. It's a creamy coconut, chilli and coriander sauce. It was a bit too creamy for me and on the sweeter side. I wouldn't order this again, but glad I tried it because the seafood itself was quite delicious.
The bangers n mash weren't the best I've ever had, but it was a good meal. I wish that they added just a little more mash since there was so much sausage and gravy.
Not the most memorable meal of my trip, but if you're hungry and in the mood for pub food maybe give this place a try.
*I heard that this place has live music Friday-Sunday nights.
Came here for the $8 jugs. It was exactly as advertised. Jugs of the house beer for that price. Pretty damn good value if you ask me. The pub food was pretty damn good too. Simple pub food. No questions asked. I had the beef burger. Was excellent for the price. Will definitely go back whilst im here.
Had the best pub quiz night here during out stay in queenstown! The host was so funny! A very lively crowd! Staff were awesome too, drinks were well priced.
My friend and I went here for dinner last night and it was a good experience. The pub itself is really cool and has a great atmosphere. I had the Pork Ribs with roast potatoes and salad, it was so tasty! My friend had the fish and chips with salad, it was fresh and really nice. The only let down really was the service, it wasn't very busy and the waitress just didn't seem interested in us except when it came to us paying. Overall I would definitely come back for the food.
Monday arvo beer in the beer garden was great..
Had the nachos which were a bit bland, but an amazing Guinness and the only place I could find that had it in town, great staff, good service!
I love the name but above and beyond that, the food was good and the brownie for dessert was really good. Pictures are of the fish and chips (maybe not the best in town), steak (described as very good), and chicken parmesan (also described as very good). Service, while good was super slow. By that I mean the servers were very nice but the time between each section was beyond slow. We were there for 2 hours at what is essentially a bar. We were not in a rush but if you don't have some extra time, might not be the place to go.
A very warm and welcoming Irish style pub. The staff were all lovely and very attentive however we did go for an early dinner.
The entree calamari was very nice, well crumbed and fresh. We had the rib eye and bangers & mash for dinner which were both great. They met the exact expectations we had and was great after a cold day on the slopes.
After a long day of travelling, I walked downtown to the mall area in search of something to eat. I walked in and found a bar with a nice atmosphere and groups of happy folks. I walked up to the bar, and started chatting with the barkeeper who recommended the supercharger APA, I ordered that and the calamari. Both were great and the visit was a great end to the day.
Great service, good selection of food and nice atmosphere.
Sunday roast was tasty but almost recommend the Bangers & Mash.
Perfect venue for groups of people or if your on your own. Upstairs and downstairs share a warm and cosy atmosphere with plenty of screens to watch your favourite sports. Great selection of beers on rap at a reasonable price. The food menu is another added bonus. Great venue all round
The food was great! Had a roast after a long day of skiing and it was perfect! We went with a big group of people and we’re a bit squashed but it’s alright. The staff were friendly on the most people other than one rude waiter that kept rolling her eyes at us. Would still go back though!
Just stopped in for quick beer. First bar we saw in queenstown.tried the Kilkenny red.smoooth!!!
Didn't eat here but had a roady on the back.
Nice place for a family meal. The young one enjoyed his mini cheese burger. The roast beef meal was very tasty. Others had the pie, steak and chicken meals and also enjoyed them. Was a bit noisy to begin with as a crowd in to watch some sport on TV but quietened down eventually.
Love the place. They did offer delicious foods at the reasonable price. It may look expensive for individual.food item, so I'd recommend if you're in a group to order a shared option to maximize it. The location is easy to locate and just within the city center. It is a two-storey building, and we went upstairs and it is less crowded and not noisy up there. The staff were really nice. Thumbs up!
Came to the Pig & Whistle Pub for dinner last night.
We were lucky enough to be able to just walk in with no booking and were seated and served pretty quickly.
I got myself a Cheeseburger and a Coke.
The burger are great, good balance of fillings on a good bun, held together nicely and was delicious.
Staff were nice and attentive, we even had some others turn up to the group late, and they were served promptly as well.
I would definitely return here.
Thoroughly enjoyed a family meal undercover with heaters to keep us cosy. The staff were awesome as was the meal.
Definitely seemed to be a go-to place for the 20s crowd to come drink and dance to live music. But, they also have Guinness on tap, lots of big TVs, and 4 pool tables upstairs so there's more to do for the rest of looking to chill out a bit more without being down in the crowd.
We were in on the night the Warriors played the Knights - what an awesome atmosphere ! We’re from Newcastle so sad but so happy for NZ. The staff were incredible never had to wait for service even on such a busy Saturday night. Love the Pig & Whistle
Good experience overall, great pub vibe. Blokes yelling and chanting watching sports. Music pumping from the live band which was excellent and some guy was doing a shoey (skulling a beer from his shoe). Quite a quirky feel to the decor which we thought was quite nice. Service was really good but a felt the parmigiana’s were a little underwhelming overall. Tasty over mozzarella cheese was different, sauce was the low light which needs to be the highlight in the good old parmy. Deep fried cauliflower was delicious.
Bit expensive, but if you stay at Pinewood Lodge. You get 20% off drinks and 10% off food. Turns an ordinary pub into a good location.
4 pool tables upstairs that are good quality.
Very friendly staff, great location (gotta love Queenstown) and relaxing decor. Just an enjoyable place for a quiet beer and snack
