Lindsay was our wait person who is fighting for the homeless and trying to get more accommodation for service workers.
We had the Marlborough oysters here 4 ways. They were fresh and high quality. The seafood chowder was enjoyable. We also had the fish of the day, which was a flounder. The Kumea Chardonnay was very nice.
The rib eye was cooked well and tasted decent but could do with more char IMHO. Perhaps next time I'll be able to order the black Angus scotch.
Great evening. Thank you. 😊
Delicious food and cocktails. The service was good and it was quite nice inside.
Slightly bigger portions would be ideal but overall not a bad place for a nice dinner out.
We had a lovely experience because of the good service from the waitress girl ( sorry I didn’t ask her name)and the duty manger Elsa. You can tell the menu it’s overpriced, maybe because of nice interior decoration and the mountain view. The waitress girl seated us and she is very accommodating. Bluff oyster is very fresh, highly recommend. Not only that small portions for all starters , but also tastes quite average. The presentation of scallop is very unique. Fish curry is very salty. Overall their service successfully makes up for the food disappointment.
Our server that day was fantastic and deserves so much praise(1/8/21). She was handling the crowd alone most of the time and was still always friendly and professional. Kudos to her for holding the fort!
Food was good but felt the portions could be a little small.
Was surprised to see the rice and fish curry in the same bowl as we saw on other pictures it was separate and seemed a larger portion. Felt like it wasn’t worth the price tag.
Chicken breast was a bit dry but the accompanying gnocchi was absolutely delicious!
Grilled octopus was a super tiny portion, tho cooked perfectly tender, wasn’t really seasoned to my liking. Chowder was nice.
Had the creme brûlée for dessert and like another reviewer mentioned, was a complete letdown as there was no levels to the flavor, just sweetness from the meringue - but the filo added a nice crunchy element.
5 stars for service but 3 stars for food.
Good service even though they were short on staff. Food was good too. Their veges and garlic prawns were delicious. Steak and chowder was good too. Ordered their creme brulee for dessert. Wasn't my cup of tea as the meringue overpowered the brulee and I wasn't a fan of the baked filo pastry. Overall a good dinner experience.
We booked for dinner and were expecting the worst after reading the recent reviews but my goodness, it was fabulous.
We were warmly greeted and seated. Our drinks arrived promptly and our orders taken. We both had steak, I had the fillet and my husband the Scotch. Both were excellent and presented and served with care. Our waitress who was from Reunion Island was extremely personable. The open kitchen gives a diner confidence.
All in all a five star experience.
Great food and service, amazing view you get seated by the window facing the lake. The banana prawns is presented in a separate plate even if you add it as a steak add on.
Would recommend getting the Creme brûlée although it resembles and taste closer to a deconstructed very subtle lemon meringue tart. The tarte tatin is great if you love apples(heavily layered with them) and have a sweet tooth(decent caramel sauce)
It's the second time we had dinner here. The food are absolutely delicious and well presented. Service was fantastic, Inca, the waitress for our table tonight, she is so helpful and let us feel so welcomed. Would definitely recommend to more friends and come back again!
I’d give it 3.5 stars if it were possible. Despite being short staffed, service could not be faulted and the experience was lovely. The restaurant has prime views and a beautiful interior, and is perfect for a slightly dressier occasion.
The letdown was unfortunately the food, which wasn’t bad but was also not great. We ordered the salmon gravalax, which was deliciously fresh and light; the fish curry, which was not bad but on par with something from Hellofresh; eye fillet, which was quite dry; triple fried chips which were still starchy and roasted carrots which were very undercooked as sides. I have a feeling that maybe it has to do with staffing problems that are all over Queenstown during this time, which is a shame.
Perfect place for brunch by the Queenstown Boardwalk. Great service and great wine list. Had some amazing cocktails with brunch. Will definitely visit again
