Cute place for your weekend family brunch. While they mostly serve cabinet and easy-to-made food, the food seems to be flavourful and fresh. (Approved by my lil one. She ate most of the smoked fish pie I bought for myself. My other fussy 7y.o. eater liked bacon and kumara quiche.) The staff was super friendly and saved us who came 3min before the closure from hunger. P.S. The wooden flooring is gorgeous, I couldn't stop looking at it 🤩

Beautiful ambience in this lovely cafe. Very rustic, with old tractor seats displayed on the wall, and lots of beautiful timber including roughsawn timber ceilings. We sat in the decking area at the high bar tables, but found the stools a little difficult to climb onto - perhaps not so suitable for shorter people! But once we were up there we were comfy. There was a great range of sweet treats in the cabinet - the apple and custard slice was delicious, as was the pinky bar slice (caramel and marshallow). However there was little in the way of savoury morsels by the time we arrived (approximately 1pm) unless you ordered from the menu, which we ended up doing. The bacon and eggs were decent, and the fries were lovely and crispy. We will be back!

Good food if you need to stop on the State Highway - but the highlight really is the tour of the period historic houses!

This is our local go to cafe for brunch and lunch and we are frequently happy with the food and fast and friendly service. We have watched the arrival of extra houses onto the property for several years and were delighted to see the Heritage Walk behind the cafe open. When we finally had a chance to do the walk we were even more delighted. It might be the best $20 we've spent at a museum. Time period houses from 1860 to 1970, a fascinating and informative walk through New Zealand history. Great eye to detail and it brought on moments of nostalgia. Even our overseas visitors really enjoyed the experience. I'd highly recommend the Heritage Walk but allow yourself more than an hour to really take it all in. Well done Francis and Alan, it's a great addition to a local venue.

Lovely people, great service as well as quick. Only blemish was that I ordered scrambled eggs and was given poached. Didn't say anything because they were more than acceptable.

My choice for a great cafe in the Sanson area. You'll get real, healthy, wholesome food as opposed to meat pies/sausage rolls/greasy food, although they do have meat pies and sausage rolls, just better quality. They also have vegan options and scrumptious flavour combinations for sweet and savory goodies. Milkshakes, smoothies, coffee, tea and professional service to boot! This is my go to spot for grabbing brunch or lunch when heading into Wellington from Waioru or on the way to Waioru from Wellington 👍

I really liked this place. It was the first convenient place to stop that looked lovely and inviting after leaving Wellington. Lots of parking, lots of table, speedy service and fast delivery of food without it compromising on quality. The coffee was good too. Meant we could eat good food and get back on the road promptly. It does get busy by the look of it, but it has quietened down when we got there, which was about 1.30 ish. Think it closes at 3pm. Will definitely be using this as our regular pitstop when driving up from Wellington. My son loved the tractor outside.

I was part of a group of 5, with no booking wanting a late lunch. We were welcomed, everything we wanted was available, and it was served without a lengthy wait. The staff were cheerful, and competent. Most importantly the five meals that were served up were well presented, hot, and delicious. It is unusual for me to give 5 stars on the first visit, I will be going back again.
