Pretty good food!
Beef brisket noodles with Canton noodles 9/10 a little too sweet but the beef was tender and noodles chewy. Excellent.
I don't know the rest in English but was all good too. Service could be a bit better but over all a nice and quick eatery.
Such a good cheap eat and huge servings. I recommend the wonton noodle and stewed beef brisket. Chili source tastes so good and is perfect for noodles.
I go to Kingston Noodle really often for lunch and I always get the beef brisket noodles. It’s quite filling and definitely worth the price. The beef brisket is delicious, perfect balance of fattiness and meatiness. I also got another dish today (please check photo, unsure of the name) and it was so good! They give you a bit of peanut sauce for dipping and it just makes it 100% better. It is cash only and the restaurant is super crowded, almost every time we’ve been we had to share the table.
Ordered the stewed beef and wonton noodle soup + honey pork + lemon tea. They were delicious and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu! The atmosphere was very relaxed too and the waitress was really helpful
Amazing food, huge portions. Love the milk tea. I had the honey pork chop on rice, it was delicious and I could only finish half the portion. Great service from staff as well.
We really love this place! This is not a fancy restaurant but the food serve is good! We will travel all the way east just to have these noodles!
Tea serve is typical Hong Kong milk tea, silky texture;like that you can decide the level of sweetness
Stewed beef noodle soup 4/5 - a little on the sweeter side
Ox tongue on rice 4/5
Generous portions and really good pricing. A nice quick place to get lunch
I always wanted to come to this place as I heard so many compliments about the restaurant. We went there on Sunday lunch around 1, and the restaurant was so packed. However we didn’t wait for long so after 5 minutes we got seated.
We ordered beef brisket noodle, wonton noodle, milk toast and iced tea. However we had to wait more than 30 minutes to get our first dish which was the tea. We were really hungry and we asked one of the lady who works there but she barely spoke English.
So maybe after 50 minutes we got seated we finally received our dish. We were kind of displeased because normally if you order a noodle soup from other places you get them in like 5 minutes but here it took 50 mins.
Anyway we had our first dip and it was actually very delicious.. and also the toast and tea were so good.
I don’t usually order noodle but this restaurant surprised me. The wonton noodle soup taste very fresh and there is a whole shrimp in each wonton. There are just some tiny flys on the table. Maybe that’s the reason of this weather. We finished eating because my bf saw a fly in his noodle soup.
The food was delish and affordable. The customer service was awesome-the waiter was very polite and proactive throughout our time there. It was also great to have the option to eat outside as it was a hot day. Note: they don’t have eftpos so always bring cash with you, otherwise there’s always the option of online transfer.
This place is the BEES KNEES!!!!!!! HOLY HECK is this place good!!! Noodles amazing but my favourite are the toast and sandwiches- plain simple and straight to the point LOOOOVE IT
Ahhhh, my favorite place to go every time when I’m out of idea of what to eat.
When the aunty asked you how’s your parent been then you know you been there too many times.
If you’re new, I highly recommended to go from the basic: prawn wonton noodle. Help yourself with the chili oil/ pastel on the side. The chili is so good that you will keep going for more.
The toast is pretty authentic as well, French toast are always on point and their peanut butter with condensed milk 👌
The rice portion is really huge so if you can’t eat a lot I don’t recommended to order it unless you brought a takeaway container with you to take the other half home.
HK coffee milk tea and milk tea are always consistent. Always get the cold drink even though it’s 50cent more than hot.
Also do bring cash because they don’t take eftpos.
I’ve tried other competitors that are trying to overtake Kingston but the taste will never be as good or better than Kingston.
Beef brisket and beef tendon noodles are our favourite and must order. Perfect with their homemade chilli sauce - made great comfort food. Their food reminds me so much of the Cantonese noodle/cafes I grew up with in Hong Kong.
Absolutely love this place just because I miss Hong Kong cuisine so much! I always order their Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, since it's a favourite of mine. I love how the beef brisket isn't full of fatty bits, and they give you a nice portion of noodles. The broth would also be a highlight; not too salty, just right. I also sometimes order the Red Bean iced drink, which is also one of the iconic drinks of a Hong Kong style cafe!
When stumbling around sommerville trying to find a place to eat, this Hong Kong style cafe was one of the busiest. The place was popular with their noodle soups as everyone there had ordered a bowl of noodles. We ordered a wonton noodle soup and a stewed beef brisket noodle soup. What I loved about this was the texture of their noodles, firm, springy and delicious. The beef and wontons were both tasty and enjoyable, and portions were decent for the price. They leave your stomach at just the right level, not too full and not hungry. Offering a wide authentic HK style menu I will be surely looking forward to trying their other options! One thing to note about this place is that they only take CASH, the staff did tell us beforehand which was great! Overall enjoyed my meal here.
My Childhood favourite, 18 years later still the same classic institution serving up authentic beef bone broth and noodles. This is my first stop whenever I land in Auckland for my family visits..
Excellent place to get your HK style cafe fix. The beef brisket noodles are the best. Fried chicken wings are awesome and the best of all. The traditional HK ice milk tea and french toast. The seating arrangement is a bit weird though and not all food is nice. Stay away from satay beef. I live in Mt Albert and I drove all the way there to eat their food. It's worth it.
While looking for a change from our usual dinner places, we decided to check this place out. Despite having been here for many years, I never had the urge to eat here mainly because the place looks really run down. What a mistake that was!
The place had limited seats and you do have to be prepared to share tables. It's worth the wait so be patient. The place is often packed because of the food. Be aware that this place caters to those after a simple meal only. If fine dining is what you are after, this won't be it.
My group ordered the fried Cheong Fun, honey pork chop on rice, meat and fish ball noodle and the typical eggs with luncheon meat on rice. For fun I ordered the French toast and absolutely loved it! The noodles was spectacular as the soup was very tasty. Not too sweet and not too salty. The meat ball was bouncy and fresh as were the fish balls. Overall I was very happy with the quality of the food.
The few downsides of this place includes the fact that the shop looks very run down. It's also a cash only policy, which they do forewarn before ordering. They do have additional seatings but the staff often use some of it for the food preparation. It would have been nice to free that up and move the food preparation to the kitchen.
I am definitely coming back to this place to try the other items on the menu. Sometimes the best food comes from a place that isn't the most visually appealing. 👍🏼

I have to say, this is the ONLY place in Auckland where you can have genuine, authentic HongKong style noodles. Their hot milk tea is a must try. It's stronger than any coffee you've ever had as it's boiled using at least 3 different types of tea together. "Yin Yeung" (a drink combines coffee & tea) is also another special drink from HongKong.
Advice: bring cash! They don't have eftpos facility.
The most traditional Hong Kong style restaurant I have tried in New Zealand! It keeps the traditional menu and it is 0 hard to find in other ones. And the dishes all taste good! Though the restaurant is small but it is worth to go back again and again.
Kingston Noodle is one of the longest standing shops in the Somerville area and its not surprising at all. I remember coming here when I was younger with my family as still come here a decade and a bit later. The extensive menu ensures theres something for everyone and favourites of mine are the beef brisket noodles the stewed beef brisket and the wontons!
I would love to see some changes to the interior as it is outdated and starting to look quite dingy…. I guess it adds to the whole experience.
I highly recommend Kingston Noodles to those who want a satisfyingly cheap yet authentic chinese/hong kong meal, you won’t regret it :-)
Well priced menu that's filling.
Helps if you speak Chinese when ordering.
Cash only (no eftpos facility available)
Food comes out in reasonable time even when fully packed. Considering they only have 2 people in the kitchen :)
Best cha chang teng 茶餐厅 in Auckland with authentic HK style food. We never get board of this place and comes once every month. The 猪肠粉 and 云顿面 are the best. We also enjoy the dessert like team bean dessert. Highly recommended if you live Hong Kong food.
This place is probably one of the most authentic hk style cafe's you will find in Auckland. Down to even the service, if you've been to HK you'd know that staff treat you with hostility, no smile, and surface level customer service. This is probably also the only place in Auckland that doesn't offer EFTPOS, and only accepts cash. So be warned if you want to come here BRING CASH! Despite not owning a eftpos machine for probably around 10years, this place is packed and buzzing everyday from lunch until late afternoon. Despite the service and shabby looking decor and hygiene, my partner and I return time and time again. Their noodles are what theyre best known for. Their youngchun noodles are the best in town (in my opinion). You can get them as soup base or dry base, and there's a range of meat toppings to accompany them. Ranging from garlic chicken to ox tongue to beef brisket to wonton and everything in between. They also do classic hk cafe dishes like hk style french toast, HK milk tea, and fried rice noodles with peanut sauce. The food comes quick here but it does sometimes take an effort to wave down a staff for service. It's non stop here, people vacate their seats and immediately it'll get filled. So don't expect to get comfy to sit around a chat. It's really more a in and out kind of place. You can always expect someone waiting out the door for you to vacate your seat. We've been coming here for years and the same goes for our family friends. It's quite well known. We probably won't stop coming here.
Food: 5/5 (based on soup noodles, this is all I ever get)
Drinks: 5/5 (I get hk milk tea every time and I can only find two other place in akl that taste this authentic)
Service: 2/5
Atmosphere: 2/5
Value for money: 5/5
Kingston Noodles is like stepping through a portal into a Hong Kong noodle house. It's so authentic, from the cantonese talkback radio playing through the speakers to the 'cash only' payment policy.
Taste: 4/5 truly authentic mild tasting authentic Cantonese food. Their drinks are awesome too so don't just limit yourself to Chinese tea
Value: 4/5 great value for money
Decor/Ambience/Service: 3/5 everyone here speaks Cantonese or Mandarin, so just point at the english menu and you'll do fine
Overall: 3.5/5 if you like HK style noodles, you'll love Kingston Noodles
Tip: Bring cash! They don't take any forms of electronic payment whatsoever.
This is a Hong Kong style noodle shop. The shop is very small and you have to expect sharing table with other customers like in "tea restaurant" in Hong Kong.
You have the options of many noodle types in not less than some 50 soup and ingredient bases. The prices are very cheap and the food is excellent.
This place is a gem. I can picture myself sitting in a street side restaurant in Guangzhou or HongKong eating this.
I much prefer yang chun noodles over their standard egg noodles.
Only downside is that they take cash only.
What a pleasant surprise!
Who knew such an average looking place could pack so much flavour in their noodle soups!
We came here for lunch today and ordered the wonton noodle soup and the stewed beef brisket noodle soup. The wontons were all right, but not the best we've tried.
But the beef briskets! My oh my! The beef flesh were full of flavour and just falling off the bone. Loved every mouthful! The soup was also flavourful.
The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, but today indoor was fully packed since it was too cold outside which made the service suffer. Expect a loud and hot atmosphere if you're sitting inside.
Definitely coming back for more beef briskets and to try other things on the menu :)
Despise the fact that this place may not be the fanciest or cleanest eatery in Meadowlands, the noodles here still remain my favourite in the area ( followed by Full Yao depending on the type you're after) and a bonus is how cheap the entire menu is! Kingston Noodles has been opened for as long as I can remember and has never failed to deliver.
My go to dishes here is (without fail) the beef brisket noodles in soup! The dish is served with generous amounts and good ratios of both brisket AND noodles and is overpacked with beautiful flavours in the soup. (p.s.I'm 99.9% sure this isnt due to msg because even msg couldnt taste this good). Another favourite of mine is the wontons here in soup as the casings are always soft and thin and filled with large portions of prawns, pork mince and chives. These two dishes would be what I'd reccommend if you ever decided to come here for a quick lunch :)
One major downside of this place however, is the service itself as not once has the waitress ever smiled at me haha. But food + price + value is really good and makes it worthy of my time :D
Great value for money! The soup base for the noodles is amazing. I always get the wonton noodle soup and add some Chinese red vinegar and secret recipe chilli sauce.
This is my favorite noodle place, great value for price and very Hong Kongnese. I love their Wonton noodles, i know that their Wonton noodles are made fresh, not some supermarket stock, which I highly recommend and so is the traditional Hong Kongnesemilk tea, they are absolutely amazing. The Ox Tongue noodles are also my favorite, they are not easy to come by but they give you heaps! Every time I go there, they are always full, but luckily the wait time isn't too long. The staff are really nice and friendly, I wish I could go there more often, but unfortunately I live quite far. I can't wait to eat there again and next time I will definitely takeaway to eat later!
Maybe a score of 4.5 is a bit extreme for some, but I like to score this place this!
The price of the meals are so cheap (from a students point of view) the portion sizes are more than enough, so filling and tasty.
Sure, its bit far from where I live ( Auckland CBD) but eating out of the central is always good now and then. The staff are very nice and helpful, friendly and just very welcoming. Located in Meadowlands, east Auckland, with seating indoors and outdoors (convenient for smokers). Only down side was that they only accept cash, so if you ever do come here, remember to bring cash.
Want cheap eats? That's filling and tasty? Pop by to this joint :)
Small noodle place with indoor and outdoor seatings. Dishes are more like Hong Kong style. Price is reasonable and portion is decent.
Food is so delicious. I recommend to try deep fried wonton & beef brisket noodle soup. Staff speaks little of English. Prepare cash if you come here.
Pretty old place, still around for 20 plus years. The food here however is very traditional Cantonese food. The noodles here are very good and full of flavour. Had the stewed beef brisket noodle and enjoyed it a lot, it is slightly fatty and savoury. Their iced cold lemon tea is also very refreshing.
Caution: service is extremely bad here
Kingston Noodles 軒成麵家 is a charming little restaurant tucked away in the heart of the city, offering a delightful culinary experience for noodle enthusiasts. Having recently dined at this establishment, I was impressed by the overall quality of the food, ambiance, and service.
Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior is tastefully decorated, with a blend of modern and traditional elements. The comfortable seating and dim lighting create a cozy ambiance that is perfect for a casual meal or an intimate gathering.
The menu at Kingston Noodles is focused on a variety of noodle dishes, and it does not disappoint. The extensive selection offers options for every palate, from traditional Cantonese-style noodles to fusion creations with a modern twist. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the signature Kingston Beef Noodles. The beef was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the rich broth and springy noodles. Each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.
The restaurant also caters to dietary preferences and offers vegetarian and gluten-free options, ensuring that all guests can find something to satisfy their cravings. The portion sizes were generous, providing excellent value for money.
The service at Kingston Noodles was attentive and friendly. The staff members were knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations. However, during peak hours, the wait times can be a bit long, so it's advisable to make a reservation or plan accordingly.
One aspect that could be improved is the availability of parking space. Finding parking nearby can be a bit challenging, especially during busy times. However, the overall dining experience made up for this inconvenience.
In conclusion, Kingston Noodles 軒成麵家 is a hidden gem for noodle lovers seeking a memorable dining experience. With its inviting ambiance, delectable noodle dishes, and friendly service, it is a place worth visiting. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to the city, I highly recommend paying a visit to Kingston Noodles for a flavorful journey through their menu.
Very traditional Cantonese flavour.Went there four years ago with my friends.Back today with my hubby. He likes it very much,it’s his hometown flavour. I like the red bean smoothie.Yummy yummy!
Wanted to have something warm on a cold night so we came here for soup noodle but they don’t have heater in the restaurant so it was quite cold especially when customers walked in/ leaving. Ordered soup wonton noodle ($10) and beef brisket noodle ($11), they have one of the best egg noodle dish in Auckland. Noodles are chewy and thin, wontons are so big and wrapped with generous ingredients. Milk tea and french toast were just ok, their french toast taste a little bland and dry. This place is a little bit old and you might need to share the long table with others when it gets busy, they only accept cash and bank transfer (no eftpos). Not a fancy place but definitely a place to have a delicious egg noodle that doesn’t hurt your wallet at all.
Food: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Such a good cheap eat! Great for sharing because the individual portions are actually massive. The place is busy at peak hours and staff don't offer the best service but the food is worth it. I would recommend the honey pork cutlet on rice, the crispy sweet taste is amazing.
Best Noodle Soup in Auckland, but remember to bring cash. It’s CASH ONLY. I guess Inland Revenue does not even know it exist. 🤟
They make the BEST prawn wonton soup ever!!! Usually get takeaways only. We live out of town and will always grab some whenever we are in the area.
Their beef noodle soup is absolutely delicious and amazing! However, I do hope that the restaurant can improve its environment for a more pleasant dining experience. It's worth noting that they currently only accept bank transfer and cash as payment methods, and do not accept EFTPOS.
Amazing soup broth , wonton is filled with a huge prawn and pork meat. Egg noodles are perfectly cooked and chewy. The home made chili sauce on table is so good as well w everything. Ox tongue is yummy as well
Not only the wonton noodles, but also the luncheon meat + fried egg noodles are delicious. It's one of the best noodle restaurant in Auckland.
Authentic Chinese food. Satay beef noodle soup our favourite. Recommend to come and try if you are looking for delicious noodle soups and other dishes.
