Three thumbs up!
Being a (somewhat lol) connoisseur of international (if you know me, you will know my travel history) cuisine and yes, street food, I let my taste buds do the reviewing.
Food wise, Baltao and Co has captured the essence of Filipino street food! Quick, easy, simple and friendly. (Want a soft drink (what you kiwis call fizzy drinks)-there’s the bar where you can drink to your hearts content).
It heralds memories of my time in the Philippines where we would hang out at literally the kanto (steer corner) and pick at the bbq, fish balls, pork belly, etc for hours, talking the evening or night away.
Yeah, I had to wait a bit, but that’s part of the charm of Baltao. The experience of what organized-chaos is. I’ve been back several times for the good ambiance and better food.
If you’re looking for first class service, this isn’t the place for it. If you’re looking to experience Filipino street food culture, you’ve come to the right place.

The staff was overwhelmed with customers when we were there last week which took my order to arrive a long time. I hope they can upgrade their order processing to avoid long lines. BUT! Their food definitely made up for the long wait. We had the ribs, melts-in-your-mouth pork belly, skewers, and turon which are all 💯👌! It satisfied our street food cravings!
This place is great! Amazing food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. Highly Recommended!
Cozy place, staff are very friendly. Most importantly, food and service are superb! Baltao will definitely bring you back home. I tried everything from each stall, and it's so worth it!!!
First time to try Isaw last week. It was amazing. The waiting time was insane and surprisingly there were so many people in this hidden spot just behind the 123 bar. Their pork belly bbq is so tender and tasty. Some of our orders were sold out. But these guys did a good job. Also, I would like to commend the lady who is taking the orders and processing the payments. It must not be easy to be doing the front work.
Baltao's backyard set-up is super chill. We love their Baltao Ribs, Sisig Bao and the pork ISAW is 100% legit and super good.
We been visiting them since last month and will definitely keep on coming back. It was always a well spent Saturday afternoon at Baltao.
We had a great time eating our all time favourite street-food (isaw, siomai, kwek-kwek, turon and inihaw na liempo). The Baltao guys were very friendly and committed to great service. Plus the ambiance is cozy and chill. Most importantly, the food are amazing and talagang babalikbalikan namin. 👌💯 Good job 👏
I was at first hesitant to travel 30+ km to East Auckland (petrol prices are crazy lately) but man, so glad to have chosen pinoy street food craving + supporting small businesses, over the penny pinching! 😬
Baltao’s venue was slightly hard to find at first but we were immediately welcomed by a super friendly guy who was seated in front of what seems to be a karaoke bar. Then we were ushered to a real nice outdoor area that was filled with the amazing aroma of BBQ.
We ordered Baltao Ribs, sioami, and what felt like isaw good for a big group of friends (there were only 3 of us😆) - last time I had isaw this good was more than 4 years ago, so no guilt there haha.
Service was quick, staff was super friendly and were joking around with us warmly. The food and overall experience in that small courtyard felt like I was transported back home, to the Philippines… it was such an incredible experience and is the next best thing to eating street food in the 🇵🇭(while waiting for borders to open).
Highly recommended and will definitely be back!
Very friendly staff! And an amazing place to chill with friends or family. Their food brings back a lot of childhood memories. Will definitely be back! 👌
