Really enjoyed the meal last night. Ribs were good and the seafood chowder was lovely. Portion sizes are good and the service was fast.
Dined here last night with my family of four for the first time and we all enjoyed ourselves. Service was on point and friendly. Despite the venue being quite busy our food was delivered faster than expected and was refreshing. Starters we had Thai green coconut mussels, Mozzarella & Garlic pizza bread, Buffalo chicken wings and for our mains we had Surf n Turf x 2, Steak eggs & chips and Pork spare ribs along with ‘Tipsy Maiden’ cocktail and std drinks. We enjoyed every piece of our meals. The servings were big so much that we couldn’t even think of squeezing in any dessert even though we wanted to ... however one chocolate mousse was snuck through for the birthday girl apparently the 7th birthday celebrated there yesterday. Definitely a new fav local spot for us!
Friendly staff and beautiful decor. Squid was enjoyable, prawn dumplings didn’t taste quiet right, rather dry and sticky on the outside. Garlic pizza lacked flavour. Coffee was nice. Overall a good experience. Would

Have been here a few times. I love their chicken pasta but depend who the cook is lol sometimes it’s a bit more saucy sometimes it’s drier. But we were disappointed with their chicken burger it was pretty average and overpriced. I had the chicken burger at onehunga good home it was absolutely delicious so expected the same here. Good customer service and will come back
Wow. Starting with food - I got the lamb shank which was amazing and very big in portion size. My friend got the burger which came with a knife stuck in it. Loved it! We went on Christmas eve and we were surprised with christmas crackers which just made the experience more enjoyable. The staff were very friendly, filling up our water and asking about the food. Loved the experience and would absolutely return!
Love coming here! Amazing staff and great food, love that there is a variety of Gf options instead like most places that only have a couple. The gf cheese and caramelized onion jam pizza bread. Yum!!!
The restaurant was gorgeous and catered for a range of clients from corporate functions to family dinners. The restaurant also offered a cute little hangout space for kids. The menu offers a wide range of meals and the dishes we ordered were all really good. We ordered pizza, pasta, fish and chips and a burger. Everything was delicious and were good portions. The staff were very efficient and friendly. Friday afternoons are the best time to visit because it wasn’t busy and we were able to get parking. If you want to visit this place, I would recommend leaving early so you can locate parking.
Popped in Saturday evening at 19:30pm. Place was busy but not cramped. Got a seat for two straight away. Service was quick and comforting. Ribs were fantastic and cooked beautifully. Wife had the lamb shank. Also fell of the bone. Would definitely come back again. Even ifs it’s just for drinks. Good clean place.
Pizzas here yuummmy! Had ribs and it was delish! My husband had steak meal it was filling! Prices are decent just like other good restaurants. Good atmosphere but can get abit busy, Will definitely be back

My family love visiting the Good Home. It has such a nice atmosphere and the staff are always attentive, accommodating and lovely to deal with. The food is delicious. My children love the Hawaiian pizza, cheese and garlic pizza bread and the free range chicken burger is always a winner. The fish burger is lovely and fresh and I have had the surf and turf on a few occasions now and it is so tasty. The ribs are delicious though on the sweet side which I personally prefer. The chicken and mushroom pie was to die for and I wish it was permanently on the menu. All of the desserts are nice too. I have nothing to fault about this place. Yes it is on the more expensive side however I think it's totally worth it.
We had such a lovely dinner for Mother's day last night. The food was fantastic and the service was amazing. A very big thank you to Melissa our waitress she is a total credit to your business I really do appreciate her patience and her memory for all our food choices she got nothing wrong. We as a family had a great experience and we will certainly be returning in the future. Thanks heaps.

Food is average but prices are comparably way too high. Service is ok as well. if they can bring the quality of food bit high and price bit low and lil raise in service standards then its 5 stars
I got the prawn salad and it was so beautiful! The food is so filling I couldn’t finish it so saved for later. Service is quick. Staff are friendly. Can’t wait to come back here
Been wanting to visit this place for a long time since I have always seen this place buzzing. And it turns out that it is popular for a good reason. First Resturant in a year that I have left positive feedback for. The atmosphere was wonderful, with a choice of quiet dining, social, live band or outside under the lights. Service was fantastic. Food was devine, large meals cooked to perfection with beautiful flavours. Will defiantly recommend and will be back for Sure!!
Generally good but this time I rung on Tuesday 13th February was told didn't have to book. February 14th went in as a family turned away as we told all booked out due to valentine's day. Why say not to book when asked if we had. 😕 Please nxt time let people know that they do.

I thought the menu could do with a bit of a freshen up. With the name of the restaurant, I expected good home cooked style food but it was more fancy pub food. Everything tasted fantastic tho.

Food was delicious and such generous servings. We couldn't finish everything so kids are stoked to have leftovers for brekky tomorrow lol. My daughter and I went to heaven when we had the sticky toffee baked pudding 🤤

Came here for the first time on Friday, the decor is lovely, the place is spotless and the food was faultless. Ordered the margarita pizza with curly fries to share, the portion sizes are huge for the price and quality of food! One thing I would say is I wish there were a few other vegetarian options other than pizzas but I would be happy to go back for the pizza (:
Amazing food. Amazing staff. Amazing dining experience. The kids menu was above what we usually get. The steak was perfect. Ribs marinated in a delicious sauce. Will be going back and recommending to anyone.
Was very good service for a packed saturday night didnt have to wait long for drinks or meals. And the meals were huge and of great quality awesome for all the family no matter what age. The price was very resonible too.
We booked for a Saturday night at 6.30 and it was busy. We arrived at 6.30 and our table was not ready so we went to the bar and ordered some drinks, I ordered a jam jar cocktail, as they were a good price, bad choice as it was so strong and tasted like not much else but alcohol that I couldn't drink more than a few sips. After 20 minutes we got a table. I ordered the Chicken roulade. While waiting for our mains we noticed how beautifully the restaurant is decorated and thoughtful detail is put into everything. My chicken roulade was ok. It didn't have much flavour and they bacon wrapped around it was very fatty ( I would have liked this to have been crisped up and not chewy and raw tasting) but the sauce with it was delicious and had a lovely rich flavour and the garlic mash was also yum. The service here is great and the owner is a great guy who is really involved. I would like to try here again but order something else

This is the fourth The Good Home I've been to and it didn't disappoint. We got their burgers and their serving was the same as others. Big and good value for the price. My pulled pork burger was great and the service was good too. The decor is nice as per the other locations.
Came here on Saturday night with some friends and we were all more than impressed with the service we received. Friendly staff, tasty food and a beautiful atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back! 10/10

Ladies and gentleman, please be informed that the best pub establishment in Takanini is at the Good Home. I've been a regular diner around the area and this place always has me leaving full and joyous.
An enticing layout where the establishment is spilt into different themes such as a classic dinner dine in experience, kiwi pub feel with tall desk and smaller tables, hipster cafe noir of funky interior designs and cushion seating.
The Good home Takanini has a spot for indivuals of all creeds, back grounds and preferences.
One oberservation I've met having dined at a few pubs, The Good Home Takanini is always appropriately staffed, I have never been to the Good Home Takanini and had a problem looking for a waiter/waitress. There service staff are also positive and attentive which really helps in establishing a positive dining experience.
In terms of food, The Good Home Takanini is far ahead of it's competitors and other Good Home Branches, the meals I've had have always come out in its best form and have always been piping hot. The burgers here are behemoth sized whilst still being delicious. I've also developed a fondness for their ribs which came out showered in a lovely sauce and had me licking my fingers all the way back home.
Very few places have provided me with a flavorsome meal where I couldn’t finish my meal, however the Good Home Ribs are indeed a challenge for even the most heavy eaters/
My favorite pub in Auckland? Does Takakanini really count? I literally drive down once every three weeks from Parnell pretty much summing up my voracious appetite for The Good Home.
Showstopper: I would recommend the burger as most people I’ve recommended it to have all loved it but if you're after something a little bit more adventurous and heavy the Ribs are an absolute delight.

What a great night out. Gorgeous decor creating a lively atmosphere, excellent food and great service from all staff. The food was really delicious, from starters through to desert. Would definitely be back again and again and again...

Came here with friends 2 saturdays ago. My husband and I havent been here yet as weve been waiting for it to calm down. Its was a lovely environment and staff sooooo friendly. 2 of us ordered chicken and bacon open sandwich, 1 fish n chips and I ordered chicken pasta as ive read so many comments about the prawn pasta that was on previous menu. I ordered wrong big time, tomato sauce was far too rich and lacked flavour, there was a bone in my chicken, pasta was beautiful. Sandwiches went down very well even the paper decoration underneath that went soggy and stuck to their sandwiches. Fish n chips was a happy chappy. Dessert was devine, looking forward to returning again soon.
I have to admit I wasn't keen on having dinner here tonight after reading some of the negative reviews, however, it was the best restaurant experience in the Papakura region that I have had in years. The service was excellent but the 3 mains and desserts that we ordered were superb. I can see that we will be frequent visitors to this establishment.

If I could give a 6/5 I would. This place exceeds all expectations, the staff are amazing, the food is amazing, the atmosphere is amazing. It's like they've catered to a major variety of people. You have the option of sitting in an elegant restaurant style room covered with mirrors, elegant ceilings and chandeliers. Or the option of sitting on bar stools while you have your pub feed or a family orientated area where you can pack a LOT of people in and not be too crammed. I've been here a few times and every time I've been the food has been an absolute 10/10. They're not stingey at all, ordered a brownie tonight and it comes with two large sized brownies and a scoop of ice cream. Others in my party ordered the crumble and sticky toffee pudding and all of them blew our minds. Props to the owner because you've absolutely raised the bar for South Auckland restaurants/pubs. Also props to our waiter tonight for handling our banter and just being all round great. Love this place and you will be seeing my family and I regularly. Love it.
30 of us attended a Sunday lunch, none of us had been there before, the facilities are bright and clean the staff were attentive, all of us will dine there again, only one problem, the plate sizes are huge if that's a problem 👍
Had a meeting with my business partner, first visit. Service was great, food was fantastic, great ambience - definitely coming back (on Friday in fact) for another business meeting. Live in Drury, so great to have something like this locally
The Good Home Takanini is a must visit place if you're in Papakura-Takanini area. It is a restaurant and an outdoor bar. The Salmon pizza and the sliders tastes so good. Service was good and location is along Great South Road. Would definitely come back. Highly recommended!
Meeting a friend for dinner in Takanini it was great to have The Good Home as a relatively new location.
Very popular with local workers after work, but also with families, there is a bar & dining area too.
Service was good, the waitress appeared fairly new but was trying to build rapport which was appreciated.
We both decided to order the prawn pasta which was very tasty. The cheese & garlic bread worked well with it.
It was quite filling so we shared the brownie for dessert which was also nice.
Wine & beer list was again good with lots of local favourites. Menus are well presented, but the staff are very helpful if you get stuck for choice.
May pay to book on busier nights.
Amazing tasty food and the staff were very attentive, friendly and made us feel welcome. Me and my friends spent close to 4 hours there but the staff did not rush us. We throughly enjoyed the good food, mocktails and atmosphere. Coffee was not as great but hospitality made up for that.

The surf 'n turf and lamb shank mains were not only delicious but generously portioned. The lamb was remarkably tender, effortlessly sliding off the bone. Nice place with some great food. Portions are quite large and filling. I enjoyed the salmon. Others from our group had steaks and burgers and pasta and no complaints. The burgers are very big.

The place was comfortable and nice. Staff is very lovely and accommodating. Originally thought prices were very high, and they are, but the portion sizes make the price more understandable. Maybe they could offer 1/2 portions? I have the sticky chicken starter. It was yummy but has maybe a 1/3 of it. There was plenty. Enough for 2 main meals if you had a side salad or similar. Was good and would go again.

I went to The Good Home while I was in NZ visiting family. The venue was lovely with a good atmosphere and the food was great. We were greeted at the door by a lovely young lady named Sofia who ended up being our waitress for the evening. She was polite and friendly and gave us excellent service. She engaged well with us while also giving us the space we needed to enjoy our time together. Overall we had a lovely time and I’ll definitely visit again on my next trip back to NZ.

My second time here and I liked it. Nice food nice vibe. The decor and lighting sets the tone for this homely feel.
My only gripe is that my wallet found it hard to escape my pocket. 2 mains 1 entree 4 beers for $170 is exorbitant. It was a lovely birthday occasion but we're unlikely to return for a cheeky steak at these prices.
Excellent service from staff. They were kind and friendly. We hoped the food would have been a bit better though, it missed some essential flavors that we hoping to get. We've had the same dishes elsewhere and found that this place missed to hit the spot. It was a bit pricey too compared to the other restaurants around. I would encourage you to go if it's your first time, personally I wouldn't repeat.
