Gangnam is my favourite kbbq restaurant in Auckland. I don’t even live in the shore but I still travel there for it. The selection is great and so is the price. If you come after 6 the parking is free too! 25$ for this place is definitely worth it! But make sure you book if you’re coming on a Friday or Saturday night as it’s always packed :)
Hi there, I am just wondering if you guys have a variety of vegan options? I don't eat meat, diary products, any kind of animal products, honey etc. And will it be possible to have my own burner and hot plate as I will be dining with family who are all meat eaters. This information would help me very much as I am wanting to try out your food. If you can list items that would be suitable for vegans that will be even more help for me.
Value for money. Affordable and good food. Favourite Korean BBQ on the shore
Dined before lockdown with 8 of us. They only allow one cooker between 4 people. If you want additional cookers you have to pay extra.
They have a vast selection of meat and sauces. The food seems fresh but I would have liked to see more sides and vegetables in the buffet.
Dessert was ice cream and some fruit. There is a 2 hour dining time limit but that's plenty of time.
Hey, it’s another Korean Barbecue place in Auckland, yes, we have lots of them and this is the latest place we visited. I guess a year or two ago we saw this place and checked what they had on offer, I was not impressed during that time due to the lack of choices hence we moved on to a different place which was just nearby, moving on today we got invited and things had changed for the better.
It's a great place to eat with friends/family. But a little concentration on keeping clean serving utensils would be good. Also when we were there recently the girl swapped our tray for a clean one, but when she grabbed the old one she nearly poured scolding hot oil on my family member because she didn't pay attention to it running out the side where it drips out from. This is a serious issue and they need to be very careful with things like this. Especially if it had scolded my family member or a child. She also while putting the new tray on let the oil drip onto the floor and didn't comeback to clean it up which made it a slipping hazard. I know this all seems negative but it's important feedback for health and safety. Food is always delicious though.
This place is also one of the bbq place to dine in! They have quality bbq meat and they serves ice cream for desserts which is amazing! The only down side here is you have to pay for the lettuce wrap which is free to other bbq place! All in all it is still one of the place to try for some korean bbq!
Had good selection of meat and tasted quite good since it was marinated. My favourite was the fried chicken. I also loved how there was ice cream you could grab for dessert and coffee. The service was really bad. The workers were snobby and they looked annoyed when we asked them for something. You could also see a lot (almost all) of the workers just sitting down on the tables next to us. This place would be perfect if the service were better
I'm in love with this place. Your money is worth the variety they're giving. The food and ambience is authentic. The servers are Korean. It's like payiny their countru a visit when going to this place. This is by far the best KBBQ experience that I've had (in New Zelaand and the Philippines). 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Our go to restaurant whenever we are craving for Korean Bbq buffet. 👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Love their variety of marinated meats. Their Korean Chicken is a must try. Value for Money as well.
My husband took me here on Friday for lunch . I wasnt too keen after reading the negative reviews but I thought I’d give it a try and go with an open mind . Yes the place was a bit small for an all you can eat buffet but its not that bad . We got there around 3pm and it was empty, there’s only one couple tbh . The service was alright, they weren’t too attentive but we didn’t mind because we’re the type of people to just go with the flow and dont really ask much questions. I was happy with the selection of meats , my husband thought they could do with more lamb selection (his favourite meat) . So far the experience was good and i would definitely go back and try their dinner menu .
Went with friends late last friday and still they welcomed us. Great food at a reasonable price. Heaps of meat choices, sauces and side dishes. Comes with ice cream and coffee too. Accomodating staff as well.
It's really good value for money and there is a good range of raw food to BBQ. However to think they need to keep working on their smorgasbord menu. One thing I really didn't like was the layout of the restaurant and the lack of space. This left the food station feeling cramped and messy. It was almost stressful to navigate your way around everyone.
This is our favourite KBBQ place to visit. My partner and I are regulars here. Restaurant is clean and food is delicious. We haven't found a buffet style KBBQ place that can beat Gangnam style!
Love this place been many times. Staff is always friendly and inviting. I enjoy the beef ribs there the marinate is great. Will be back here again.
Perfect bbq i have ever tasted in auckland. Staff is very friendly and polite and mostly all the foods remains unlike other bbq runs out. So much recommended.
We’ve been here twice without any booking but we are seated right away. Great meat range and side dishes were tasty. Just the topping up of meat are a bit slow but all in all good value for money! Would definitely recommend 👍🏻
Second time to the gangnam BBQ walked in off the street no booking but lucky to get in as been busy both times. Service is good and they get you set up quickly. Lots to choose from and always a fun experience once you know what your doing. This would of been a 5 star but not enough bulgogi! My favourite runs out too quickly :( other than that can't complain :)
Love it ! Their food is really fresh, spread is pretty good . The chapchae is bae lol more often than not whenever I leave a review it’s negative . This is one of the exceptions .. price is reasonable and food is good ! What more can u ask for ? - ok maybe throw in some free flow rice tea ? 😛
Best Korean BBQ I’ve been! Variety of choices of meat and cooked Korean dishes. Good location, easy to park. Everyone in the family loves this place.
I went here a couple of weeks ago with a friend. Most of the cooked food trays were empty and not filled up. I enjoyed the ssamgyeopsal (pork belly). The grill was dirty and was not able to be changed as they had run out. Ice cream was pretty much empty and we were advised there was no more. I think this restaurant needs more staff as it was difficult to approach the waitresses (there were only two of them) and both were extremely busy. Need to find a better method to cope with the heavy demand of customers (food running out, need more).
I did admire of the customer service of the two waitresses when needing something / querying something. They were both very friendly and did their best to assist when approached, and they worked very hard to ensure my time spend here was very satisfiable. As I believe customer service is the key, I am still very happy go give this restaurant a 4 out of 5 and would be keen on coming back.
My go to Korean BBQ~ affordable, good range of fresh meats, tasty cooked foods as well, and they have hot chocolate and ice-cream! Only let down is that you have to pay for lettuce....
This is a great place to hangout with friends and get hammered afterwards. Not too big but doesn’t feel overcrowded. Food is great too, the’re heaps to choose from and they have ice cream all you can. The staff are very accomodating as well. As for the price, it’s a little pricey at $25 per head but it’s worth the experience. One minor concern is the parking, it’s kinda hard to find the nearest parking space at peak hours. Anyway, it’s awesome! 🍖🍗🥗🍤🍦😁
Came here last Sunday for lunch without booking (party of 6). Even though it was pretty much full, we were lucky enough to get the last table right at the front of the restaurant (we enjoyed this table as it was a bit more private than the others)
The food was really tasty, but i would recommend coming after the lunch rush as it took a while for dishes to be replenished (they do have signs of this next to the food). Will definitely be back though! Value for money.
Make sure you try the fish - it is soooo good!
Really good, would recommend to go to.
they have really good meets and side dish. free water. and kid friendly. they have private rooms!!!!!
Free ice cream, yes they have their own ice cream machine which is included with the buffet. the owner is friendly and accommodating. recommended for family and friends get together.
This place is really really good!! Had lots of variety in terms of cuts of meat and more vege options than other k bbq places we went to. Staff were polite. Labels explaining the marinade ingredients in English and Korean a nice finishing touch. Marinade was tasty and meat very fresh :)
This restaurant offers a great variety of meat which are fresh and yummy. It suprised me that the spicy squid was very tender. But the dessert is the only thing lacking here, they only provide ice cream.
It’s ok, worth the price, choice is limited, service is good, not easy for parking, always struggling, but better than another Korean buffet before we went, no need for booking and not too smelly
Nice BBQ, tasty, beef rib never let us down, very easy and comfortable place, hot food not too much choice, standard Korean restaurant, it’s our regular place
BEST PLACE OUT. Love the food alway fresh and always stocked up the service is amazing everyone is so friendly especially the manager of the place and also the hygiene is amazing especially with the amount of different raw meats around . They make sure no cross contamination is happening.
Love the marinated crab but it takes aaaaages to cook the meat because they use weak electric cookers rather than gas. If it wasn't for that we'd come here more often. Not much variety too.
Good food, good service, value for money. Nice selection of cooked food and raw meats. Always a nice family dining experience. Extra points for having ice cream and nice coffee/ hot chocolate to top off the meal.
Great service!! The manager was very polite and struck up conversations. The place was very busy so it took a while for our hot plate to be changed. That being said the food was very fresh and kept up to demand. Will definitely be returning

The eat-all-you-can korean restaurant that has an ice cream machine. A lot of variety and a lot of tables. The place also has secluded parts for large groups. The staffs can use a torch to fasten the meats to cook for you.
The ambience is wonderful. The location is very good as the House of chocolate is just beside it. We went here for my friend's birthday. Unlimited vanilla ice cream! They also have soft crabs, squid, prawns!
Love this place, my partner and I have been going here for about 4-5 years. It's a cosy place, can't get very packed sometimes and not suitable for small children as our high chairs didn't have a belt. The food overall was great. And one of the best Korean food I've had.
I was craving for korean bbq. At first we were worried because it needs reservation but good thing they were able to give us a table but with the condition to end after an hour and 30 min. Without hesitation we accepted it and started grilling and eating. All good! I was amazed and i enjoyed a lot eating i here. I would love to come back here. 😁
Korean BBQ paradise!
I adored my visit to Gangnam style and I'm shocked at how lowly rated this establishment is, people complaining about having to cook their own meat and bad dessert etc..... DUH! Seasoned Korean BBQ eaters know that to really rate a Korean BBQ establishment, you have to rate it on the quality of the meat, meat selection and side dishes!
Gangnam Style offers you a variety of meats--they had seafood, lamb, beef and pork. What was really impressive were the different cuts and varieties of meat they had. For example Korean pork belly and normal pork belly.
The side dishes were awesome! Flavoursome kimchi, spicy/sweet Korean fried chicken ( I would totes come back just for the fried chicken ) and the ddeokbokki was delicious!
Showstopper: Best Korean BBQ I've had in Auckland.
Overall Grade: A
Me and my Friend like Korean BBQ and have recently been trying out different locations in Auckland.
So we decided to try this place out.
We decided to come here last Saturday for lunch. First impressions were great! It was nice and quiet and clean and the guy who greeted us at the door was so friendly!
Food - Good selection of meat, and the side dishes were delicious and always refilled. They even had fried chicken!! (yay)
Service - very friendly and welcoming.
I also took my younger sister (10yrs old) and she thoroughly enjoyed her first experience at a Korean BBQ.
Will definitely come back again!
Went here around 4pm and it was a good time to avoid crowd, and they start to refill all the food at that time too. But, if you want to go for dinner time, I suggest for reservation, since they will be so crowded at night and their place is limited.
They have lots variety of side dishes and range of bbq. Also their place looks modern than other bbq place. So much better than bbq in akl cbd.
Best place for a bbq and a buffet all for $25.00 per person. The variety of the meat was wide and they were pre marinaded the service was amazing and it was unlimited amount of food which got us going the most. We do not live in north shore but that place is diffenately worth the drive and the money for such an amazing Korean cuisine! Sherzan Pagdiwalla
Loved this place. Good food, pleanty of variety would definitely recommend. Staff happy and helpful. Don't know what else to write now ....
Very clean and reasonable price for bbq buffet $25 per person. Yummy and well marinated meat. Good thought by provided bbq sauce which barely found in other places. Average dessert and fruits. To sum up, I Love it!!
Great place to hang out, have food and talk about your day. Great selection of side dishes and meats. Korean buffet with both styles of fried chicken; spicy, original and other food choices. Would recommend it to friends but not children. Highly recommend to try out there instant coffee and hot chocolate machine!
Only thing is that you will have to ask for your grill to be changed.
Went here for dinner on Saturday night with friends and really enjoyed it. Thought it was great value for money, all you can eat for $25 including a selection of meat you can cook yourself and selection of hot food like sweet and sour pork, fried chicken a number of salad options and deep fried banana for dessert that I really enjoyed. The staff were great as well, our waitress was really friendly, would defiantly come back.
A nice Korean bbq buffet in Takapuna
We decided to come here after the other kkbq place was full and it wasn't a bad decision at all. We arrived at around 6pm and it wasn't busy. We actually prefer it being quiet as opposed to loud crowds. There was the standard selection of cooked foods and uncooked meats. I always enjoy eating the cooked foods and I really liked the fried chicken. The uncooked meats (once cooked on the bbq grill) were really nice, we only eat pork and beef so we don't mind they didn't have a lot of seafood (only squid). There were a lot of sauce choices and plenty of lettuce/radish sheets to eat with the bbq meats. I especially enjoy drinking the rice water and they had these nice banana desserts. There is also free hot chocolate/coffee for those wanting a nice hot drink to finish. The staff is really friendly and attentive but once it gets busy, it's hard to find someone to change the grill but don't be worried about approaching them. The floor of the restaurant was a little slippery or maybe it was the chairs, not too sure.
Picture:
- Pork belly on the bbq grill
- Selection of cooked foods along with lettuce and sauce selection (I got the ssam jang and sesame oil) and the uncooked pork belly/beef
It is $25 per person which is standard for pretty much all korean bbq buffet restaurants and if you're after a nice quiet place, I would recommend it but if you want a loud busy place with a large selection, it would be better elsewhere but overall, I definitely liked it and will come back.
I like that place very much! Friendly service, nice and decent food. There dessert option is more than other restaurant. The the staff will help you to flame your meat as well!
Outstanding food and service. Good price too. I would love to go back there again! When I am going to have massive dinner with many of my friends for special occasions, this will be the perfect place to host. It is clean and well organised. So many varieties of great foods. Not just meats but also vegetables etc. Good for our health! Very impressed and amazed. I strongly recommend it.
Excellent food. Excellent service. All at a very humble price. I stumbled across this stunning buffet just a few weeks ago due to its wonderfully clean and modern interior and the logo of GANGNAM STYLE. Just great food at a great price. A very wide selection from all-you-can-eat bbq meats (both marinated and non-marinated), seafood, selected asian dishes, salads, soups and also oriental deserts. Very well-priced for such a stunning selection of fine foods and drinks. Was thoroughly impressed. Give it a go. You wont be disappointed!
Yes it’s really a restaurant named Gangnam Style I heard that the restaurant was there before the song – well it doesn’t really matter which came first anyway since Psy’s icon is on the restaurant sign now hahaha. Now the place won’t look anything Kpop-ish, just a normal looking restaurant.
I had my first Korean BBQ experience in this restaurant and I wasn’t disappointed. The buffet had a good range of marinated and non-marinated meats, pickled vegetables and lots of lettuce to make your Korean BBQ meat wraps. There’s also lots of cooked food if you get tired of cooking your own meat. I liked the tteokbokki, it’s not too spicy for me. There was also some delicious sweet rice drink to end the meal with.

I didn't expect much from this buffet because of its name but this place is worthy to check out. Their grill where you BBQ the meat is the best among all those korean BBQ buffet. Other buffet's grills are very old, they sometimes just boils the meat other than grilling. The quality of meat is good enough.
This restaurant tries to mimic the Gangnam Style theme, with even the host wearing a costume just like what PSY wears - Tight pants and black shirt!
Apart from the above, the food here is good overall. A lot of different meat choices for if you are going to BBQ (this is also immediately replenished when one or more meats are gone), with hot food to complement the BBQ as well. The restaurant itself is not big, but table sizes are good enough.
We did have trouble finding where this restaurant was because it was hidden in the alleyway in Takapuna!
And when you're finished with your meal, there is also a coffee/hot chocolate machine for you to refresh your taste buds!
Fantastic restaurant. We always come here.
Don’t know why there are negative reviews - heaps of food to choose from, very clean and tastes fantastic! Honestly $35 per person for all you can eat is very fair in this day and age.
Best BBQ in Auckland!
I really liked dessert. I wasn't know name's that but I couldn't eat it. It was scrumptious. 👍
Although the food variety is not many, the food quality is good. I like beef, and pork belly. Seafood and cooked food also delicious. The price is NZD35 for an adult in June/2023
You’ve gotta time it right to get fresh food. Don’t go too close to closing time as they will stop bringing out food. The buffet is simple with a few great staples. Great meat selection. There is ice cream too. They could step up the sauce game. And lettuce. More lettuce! And maybe mushrooms. One of my favorite little KoreanBBQs in Auckland.
This is mine and my partners all time favourite buffet. We love the chicken nibbles here and the variety of meats, seafood, sides. We also love the price $25pp . Cheaper for kids , We often come here whenever we get the chance and we always leave satisfied, happy and full, thats a gurantee. I recommend you book in advance otherwise you risk waiting a half an hour upto a hour because it can get busy. They do have areas for small and large groups. It does get very busy and it is a small place but we enjoy coming here. Yes i would recommend trying it but i know it wont be for everyone , I will highly likely be coming back . Staff are good to deal with aswell we have had no problems
The workers are so lovely! The foods great and prices is good. Uou get a selection of cooked meals and also raw food that you cook yourself. Loved the curry and fried chicken. Good little restruant and great for family/friend get togethers
Good quality fresh meat and a very good grill. The rest of the menu was hit or miss, but nothing too bad. The deserts had plenty of variety and was constantly restocked. I had gotten the last cake they had and ate it, and after 5 minutes the plate had already been full! Also, the strawberry sauce they had for the ice cream is absolutely impeccable. The experience is not the same without it.
Second time to eat here and I just love the unlimited bulgogi and spicy chicken and kimchi.. Two hours of bbq is good enough, and great service! Booking is required!
$28 per person all-you-can-eat buffet.
Foods are quite fresh and there are more variety of options (meat and veges) than most other Korean bbq buffet at this price range.
Due to COVID-19, it is better to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Basic hygiene protocol applies, including using a disposable gloves (provided) and a mask when picking your foods from buffet trays.
One of the nicest Korean bbq in Auckland. They have a wide range of meat and marinate plus alot of vegetables. We arrived on a Monday night and it’s still very busy, so it is recommended that you should book a table first. They only have 15 tables or so, but it is suitable for big group and family. A must try in Takapuna.
