Since it was our first time there, we wanted to try different flavors. Asked for the sauces on the side so we could try each others and they readily agreed. Loved the different texture and taste of the batter. The fries were nice and crispy, though a bit over salty for me but fine for the rest of my family. The drinks were a nice palette cleaner as well. Will definitely recommend and come again if we're in the area!
Coming with friends and share their fried chicken and hot wings with Hazy IPA is the best.

We ordered the the Po Boy sandwich- one hot and one Smokey. Both were so tasty. Chicken is easy to bite through which is good in a sandwich so it doesnāt get too messy. We also ordered the shoe string fries with cheese sauce- massive portion.

Upon entry you'll notice straight away the comic book theme. The restaurant is spacious and clean and depite the night time theme of the murals, the space was brightly lit.
With a huge selection of fried chicken flavours, a great selection of sides, if you wanna try a bit of everything, opting for the 'Tasting Box'.
We got the 'Blue Cheese' and 'Kimchi'. Both chickens came in considerably large portions and was served nice and hot. The oil was drained well and the outer layer was really crunchy! You could taste the creaminess and scent of the blue cheese in the sauce but the smell of the blue cheese was subtle as opposes to the strong smell blue cheese has. The 'Kimchi' fried chicken was layered with generous amounts of kimchi inbetween the chicken pieces. Despite this, the kimchi didn't end up too warm or soggy so as you take a bite of the chicken with the kimchi, you get a nice crunch and a good hit of coolness and freshness from the pickcled kimchi.
The combo comes with Hush Pupppies, Hand Cut Fries (all with their own dipping sauces) and a fresh salad which all paired well with the chicken as extra carbs and the salad was refreshing for when you feel like a break from the fried foods.
Overall The Coop is a great place for large group gatherings, for sharing and is definitely a place for a more upgrade version of fried chicken. They have a large range of options of Chicken that should be able to suit everyone.
I tried their original chicken, and the smokey chicken both were super delicious! And their fries was really great too. I was afraid that their chicken would be oily like all the places that serve fried chicken in the city but not at all! So it's safe to say that their fried chicken is the best !
And their staff are really nice and polite. I will definitely eat there again.

I've always seen this place when I'm in Takapuna, but because the lighting inside was so dim, I always assumed the place wasn't open. I ended up finding this place through Zomato and decided to come (not realising it was the same place).
The first thing I saw was one of the staff sitting on the sofa/couch chairs, he said hi, but we were served by another staff member behind the till. Odd but not really a big deal. The guy behind the till was really friendly and patient with us, and I also loved how the order numbers are written on the squeaky chicken toys (these ones don't squeak though which was a little disappointing but I can imagine how irritating it would get if they did). The place wasn't very busy - there was only one other table besides us, however, when we left the place was packed which was good to see.Ā
We definitely ordered a little too much here for two people, but everything on the menu looked really yum, so we ended up getting what we couldn't finish as takeaway. The fried chicken wasn't all the same size, so we ended up with bits of juicy chicken and some slightly overcooked/dry pieces. I loved the hush puppies - they're like cornbread but in cute little bite-sized pieces. The chicken sandwich we got (Kimchi) was also quite good. I'd recommend getting one of their sandwiches to share + fried chicken or sides because it's quite filling!
Chose the tasting box for $45 to share between three as we werenāt that hungry.
Immediately gravitated towards Blue cheese dressing and the cashier recommended to try the Vietnam dressing which didnāt disappoint!
Worth the price minus the hush puppies which were on the stale/ dry side.

We visited the coop on a busy Saturday evening. With only two staff on the wait was awhile. But the service was great. They gave a complimentary drink on the house for waiting. Food was great. Highly recommend checking this place out. Thank you!!
Saw these guys at the fried chicken festival a few weeks back but didnāt get a chance to try. Now it has been back to back weeks eating here! Lol. The coop has not disappointed me yet! I love my spicy fried chicken... and the spicy jerk chicken was on point! Blood orange iced tea, and breaded colliflower. The portions are decent sized, and their thick shakes look great! Great consistent service from the team there. Highly recommend.

Cool interiors fried chicken joint, friendly staffs. Nice crispy chicken, ordered Smokey, Vietnam flavours chicken, hot wings and chips for 3 adults... Filled us up very nicely!! Baby coop was excellent for little kiddo.
Loved this place! Fantastic crispy chicken which remains crispy even after a trip to the microwave! The fries were yummy as well, and the salad was interesting with a little bit of kimchi on top. My friend thought the thickshake was way too thick- his straw got blocked at one stage- but I didn't try it, so no problems for me!!
I will definitely stop here again, delicious chicken, yummy fries. The staff are also very lovely, there was a problem with the pickles I ordered so he gave us fresh hushpuppies for free, even though I hadn't complained or even noticed a problem. The hushpuppies were so crispy and yummy.

Amazing chicken is soo juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Tried the hot honey and smoke flavoured chicken. Drinks and ambience sets the mood well. Best chicken hands down Auckland.
Awesome free range buttermilk fried chicken, really tender and moist. Great service as well with a nice fit out inside the place with a good vibe. Prices are pretty reasonable as well.
Came here for lunch with colleagues and it was great - good, fresh chicken served with decently made sides, especially the salad. The Harissa was a favourite of mine.
You can tell this place is great for the evening takeaway, and given the proximity to the beach, that's not a bad idea either.
Had dinner here last week with the boys , had the fried chicken sandwich , WOW!!!! It was 10/10 we waited a bit for our orders to be served but it was differently worth the wait!! We received some free corn fritters for the wait which was nice , I will be back with the boys soon to try something else on the menu.. thanks!

The Coopās fried chicken is really tasty and a nice option for people who are gluten intolerant. Iāve tried three flavours of chicken here (kimchi, original and harissa) and they are all really unique and tasty! Being a fan of fried chicken, you canāt taste that it is gluten free or skinless, it tastes just like fried chicken should taste. You donāt feel sick after eating this like you do with KFC. I also really like the Po boy, the ice teas, chips and milkshakes.
They have really tasty Jerk Fried Chicken that is tender, juicy and crispy. You also have options of different sauces if you were wanting a different flavour profile. They also have sides like chips, corn on the cob or hushpuppies. Ordered at the counter and was handed a rubber chicken with a number to take to a table.
I went with the original Jerk Chicken with the hushpuppies. The chicken is nice but not very spicy. The hushpuppies were nice with the corn and the chipotle mayo, and again it wasn't very spicy.
Friendly service and really tasty fried chicken is a good combination for a nice place for a snack or meal.
Great food & service! The po boy went great with the hot honey sauce and the blue cheese jerk chicken was to die for! Chocolate oreo & peanut butter shakes have been done a thousand times before but they knocked out of the park with theirs! Great stuff. Definitely coming back.
Absolutely loved it! We were walking past and just saw The Coop and thought, weād like to try their fried chicken. Much to our delight, we discovered a new fave place! Chicken was crunchy and tender and juicy too. Loved the Harissa and Blue cheese, enjoyed their original, hush puppies and shoestring fries with jalapeƱo ans cheese. And to finish, their thickshake was yum! Too bad we didnāt get to take a photo of the chicken, but hereās the thickshake. Oh, and their service is fantastic! Will most def be backā¤ļø thank you!
I had the Hot honey - jerk fried chicken ($14), it was really good! Flavourful, juicy chicken which was delicious, with the outside layer of honey adding to the goodness. Friendly staff and nice, easy-to-find location, one of the best fried chicken places in auckland. Would recommend!

Okay. Letās get straight to the point. Jerk chicken. This has been the juiciest jerk chicken I have ever had! Now, no one can ever tell me jerk chicken is supposed to be dry. We had hot wings which was too hot for my tastebuds, but it was too good not to finish it. My husband liked the hot honey chicken which he loved too much he did not want the night to end. My sister had kimchi chicken. The texture tasted weird (maybe because Iām not a fan of kimchi) but Iād still give it a 5 for the chicken. We didnāt even pay much attention to the sides because we were overwhelmed of the chicken. š
Shakes. The first thing that caught my eyes is chocolate oreos & peanut butter. My husband loves both peanut butter and oreos so this shake felt like it was made for him. My sister asked if they could make her just chocolate oreos shake. And they did. My husband finished his first cup of shake even before he started eating the chicken. Then he ordered his 2 cup. They use crunchy peanut butter!! Crunchy peanut butter! I have never seen my husband so happy for a shake! Haha!
Ambiance. Itās a nice cozy place to hang out with family or friends. I would say the place is instagram-worthy. š

Went here with my sister and tried the $49 tasting platter. We got the chicken in original and franks and swapped out the hush puppies for corn. We were both very impressed as I am coeliac and my sister has pregnancy allergies, so GF and DF. The chicken was very good, preferred the original over franks as there was just a little too much sauce. The chips were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The corn was cooked perfectly and very sweet. The salad was ok, just nice to have some vegetables on the table. The staff were great and very welcoming. I am going back this week because I loved it that much!
Everybody needs to try the coop. The food is honestly so good and would recommend it to anyone wanting to try a new place. Good quality food for a good price. Even the service is outstanding......will definitely be back soon

Found through Zomato on one of the many lists on the app, this one being Fried Chicken in Auckland. Really grateful to have found the list and tried this restaurant.
Hot Friday evening in Takapuna time for interesting food. The restaurant was a little quiet considering the time but we entered anyway. We were warmly welcomed by the young man working there (off to a great start). Ordered placed with the young lady behind the counter (again very friendly). The work area is rather open which I like.
Two chicken dishes and two iced teas.
One blue cheese and one harissa. Both were excellent, the level of ācrispynessā was superb and well seasoned too. My only gripe (personal preference) is the sauce is too much. You are making an awesome chicken let that be the show of the star. I will merely ask for sauce on the side next time. The crafty ice teas (lemon, cucumber, mint and spiced apple crumble) were both refreshing and perfect for the summer weather.
There is more on the menu too try and I will happily return.

The food was great! We ordered the PoāBoys (Original & Blue Cheese) with chips as sides. The fried chicken was so flavorful! But, it was the CUSTOMER SERVICE that wowed us. The duty manager made sure everything was going well and happily switched our chips to unsalted when I told him that it was a bit too salty for me. He also gave us complimentary apple iced teas (which are yum too). It was a very pleasant dining experience :) Thanks, The Coop! š
Highly recommend trying this place out if you haven't already. Me and my partner tried the tasting box with the original and the honey sesame chicken, both were juicy and tender with a flavorsome crunchy coating. We also shared the apple crumble ice tea and a chocolate shake, both were amazing so on our way out we got a strawberry shake to go, delicious. Great service, Great food.
Amazing gluten free chicken, great service. Very generous portions. Also have a good selection of whisky and cocktails. Def will come back for a few drinks and try the rest. Po boys are fantastic !!!
Blue cheese chicken!!! The hot wings are tear-jerkingly hot, pls be careful. First time eating cauliflower and I would do it again with that harissa sauce.
Staff are very friendly which is always a plus. Big thumbs up for being environmentally friendly. Drinks come with paper straws and wooden cutlery is served. The fries are out of this world, only reason I would give a 5 would be if the chicken had more taste. The jerk chicken was not jerk. I was looking forward to the taste of jerk chicken but sadly was just like a grilled chicken taste. Not the zesty hot taste you get from jerk.
Kudos though for having a great menu and healthy choices.

Believe the hype, the chicken is amazing! Crispy and succulent. I love that you can pick and choose your flavours. My friend and I got the tasting platter and we were bursting at the end, great portion size! I will be back to try the other flavours.

We ate here recently and very much enjoyed ourselves. The original fried chicken was probably the best we have ever eaten and overall the meal was well worth itās price. The iced tea tasted good but we couldnāt detect the fruity flavours that were supposed to be in it.
Absolutely amazing fried chicken - so tasty and juicy. We got the tasting box to share which had choice of 2 types of fried chicken (amazing portion sizes), chopped salad, hush puppies, chips and 2 shakes (upgraded for just 3 dollars). Delicious and so well presented. The team are extremely friendly too. 100% recommend.

Generous servings of fried chicken and salad filling. Really enjoyed the corn long bun! Chicken was fried nicely, crispy outer and moist meat. It was a very delicious Po boy however I felt it was a little overpriced at $18.
Other than that I would come back for more when Iām in the mood for some good Po boys. Tempted to sample just the fried chicken!
My husband would not shut up about how good the honey chicken po boy was and went as far as to say that the Oreo thick shake was the best he had ever had, bible. Excellent and friendly service too!

We ordered the $49 Tasting Box opting for the Original and Harissa jerk fried chicken. The chicken was light and crunchy on the outside but juicy and succulent on the inside. The harissa paste was delicious, but I would have preferred a bit more as there was only a few drops on each piece.
Unfortunately, the rest of the meal did not live up to my expectations as the salad was a bit bland and boring, the hand cut chips were also quite bland and dry, and the hushpuppies didnāt appeal to me either. This was also quite pricey for fried chicken but I found it acceptable considering they use free range chicken. I also appreciated how they were very conscious about being environmentally friendly as all their packaging and cutlery were cardboard.Ā
However, the amazing service was able to make up for any issues I had with the meal as they were extremely attentive, friendly and you could tell they truly cared about their customers. So because of that alone, I donāt think Iām able to give a rating lower than 4. Since theyāre just starting out, I hope theyāre able to fine tune everything within the upcoming months and become a well known spot in Takapuna.
I am a super fan of fried chicken. Having been to many euro/asian restaurants, this place makes the best fried chicken !!!!!!!!!!! Slightly on the pricy end but worth every penny.
Probably one of the best fried chickens I've ever eaten. M highly impressed by the simplicity of it all, and yet it manages to blow my mind with the different flavours. We were also given a complimentary cauliflower bites. That was nice :) will definitely be back to try their other flavours

What surprised me was how good the hushpuppies (deep fried corn bread) tasted! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside with a kick provided by the jalapeno.
If you like spicy fried chicken, definitely get the Frank's option (original flavour covered in hot sauce). They also have Frank's and Kataia hot sauces table side if you're feeling adventurous.
Staff were incredibly friendly and went through the menu and offered recommendations.
There aren't many seats so come early during busy periods!
Everything they use to serve food is recyclable! Wooden utensils, paper straws!

Hard to find good fried chicken on the shore and this was yum! Side of the chips were yum, a bit different to normal. But recommend going for the combo!
Thank you coop, finally a chicken restaurant in takapuna I can tempt my gf away from bird on a wire. We got the meal for two and everything was really delicious. Chicken was crispy and succulent with a good range of flavours (we got kimchi and vietnanese - both excellent), salad was refreshing and yum, but surprisingly the hushpuppies were the bomb and could easily rival miss clawdy's. Plus the thick shakes were thick and yummy (definitely not diet friendly). You know it's good when half way through eating your already picking what your getting the next time. The restaurant is nothing flash, simple and modern, and the service was excellent.

We had the tasting box and tried the Kimchi and Vietnam flavour fried chicken. Loved them both!! The chicken was so tender, no bones and super crispy. My favourite one would be the Vietnam as it was so tasty and refreshing.Ā
The portion was generous including the hushpuppies, fries and salad. Personally not a big fan of the side dishes but chicken was very good.

Best customer service. Great taste. I went there for a takeaway and ordered a original combo with a salad. I can recommend this place as a one off the best fried chicken places in Auckland.
Eating fried food always makes me feel guilty afterwards. Yet, I would still come back to here.
These guys use free range chicken and although itās fried, it does not have that greasiness to it but very tender and juicy. The kimchi flavor is my favorite and together with the iced lemon tea is such a perfect match. Very refreshing!
Music was a bit loud but a good playlist so that can be forgiven. The service was 10/10. The staff was approachable and very attentive.
Would definitely come back to try out their Po boys and other favors soon.
After hearing about this new fried chicken place just opened in the neighbourhood and uses Turkās chicken, I couldnāt wait to check it out. I ordered the tasting box to share with my wife and my 3 young daughters. The food that was severed was more than enough to fill all of us up. I got to say, itās definitely value for money!
For my two chickens, I ordered the Smokey and the original. They were juicy but not greasy. I cannot stand oily food. The girls loved their thick shake and canāt stop raving about it.
Overall, the food was tasty and nice dƩcor. Service was great, and we would come back to try it again for sure.

Heard about this place from a friendās insta and when I saw the fried chicken, I had to try it out ASAP.
Apparantly, this place was only opened a week ago too.
This place was booming when we arrived at about 6.30pm-ish for dinner.
We decided to go with the āTasting Boxā, which we chose the āthe Originalā and āHot Honeyā boneless Chicken Thigh. We also swapped the soda beverages for the āChocolate Shakeā and āLemon + Cucumber Iced Teaā.
Food: 4.5/5.
- Chicken was soooooo tender and juicy. I deffs enjoyed the Original Chicken more, as I found the Honey in the Honey Chicken a little too strong in flavour which over-powered the chicken slightly + rosemary herb was quite subtle. The sauces with the chicken complemented it very well.
- Hushpuppies were absolutely amazing. Balls of deep fried cornbread yummmmm.
- The Shake was bomb.com! Creamy and chocolatey, a treat that is worth all the kilojoules. The Iced Tea was less sweet than I anticipated it to be, what personally prefer and found it refreshing. Could do with abit more fresh cucumber slices though.
- The Agria fries were delish. Chunky and flavourful.
- The Salad was meh. Lacked Flavour.
Price: 5/5. $45 for Tasting Box, a nice variety of the āessentialā, perfect for those first-timers and donāt know what to get. Good price and turns out to be about $10 cheaper if you were to get individual items off the menu.

This place is my favourite fried chicken spot in auckland for sure!. They have such an amazing selection of styles of fried chicken and each tastes so good and are not oily like your usual fried chicken is. The prices are pretty reasonable as well and the decor is really modern and cosy! would recommend this place and their kimchi fried chicken for sure!
Original Chicken thighs ($16) were delicious; well seasoned and juicy, and about the right portion size for the price. Side salad (extra $5) was high quality and went perfectly with it. They seemed to be struggling with the demand and it was a long wait for lunch considering the menu is quite simple, otherwise I'd give it 5/5. Understandable though since they have only been open a week.
In my ideal world they would also offer a chicken option that is low carb too (e.g. not breaded, and grilled instead of fried) with the same sauce selection.

The Coop had just opened in Takapuna and my partner has been eager to try it since he works in the area. We decided on the tasting box and it is the best value for money, as it allows us to try various items on the menu. We both ordered original chicken since we wanted to know what the standard flavour tasted like. Ambience is cool and staff are lovely, very helpful with making recommendations.
Food came out quite quickly, chicken was hot, fresh and juicy. It had a nice spice to it - seasoned well, and the portion size is generous.
Fries are delicious, very fluffy on the inside. Chipotle mayo had a great, creamy flavour to match. Hushpuppies tasted good, had pieces of corn in it, almost tasted like a soft biscuit. Salad is standard but had apple which gave it a nice bite. The blood orange iced tea had a nice sweet flavour to accompany the bitter tea. A great pairing for the meal.
Overall, The Coop is an awesome spot to grab lunch or dinner and is definitely worth the money!
Hands down the best fried chicken I've ever tasted! The quality of the cuts and gresh ingredients are superior. Portions will feed you when your hungry or keep you snacking on the amazing flavors. Discovered this great restaurant just casually while i was out on a walk through the area. Tried the Po Boy sandwich which had smokey flavored fried chicken. Really loved the sandwich and how the chicken was cooked. Very impressed with overall experience and would definitely be going back to try all the different flavors of fried chicken.

Been here twice now and it hasn't disappointed either time. Staff were super friendly and the food is delicious. Good sized portions and the flavours are pretty good. Hot option could do with a bit more chilli though but that's just personal preference. Will be back.

One of the best fried chicken meals I have had in Auckland. The fusioned fried chicken satisfies different taste buds in any occasions. Other options are available if you are not looking for fried chickens.
Really spicy hot wings. The original chicken and hand cut potatoes are also really delicious. In addition, they have an arcade machine you can use while you wait for your meal.
Good service, plenty of chicken options. Amazing taste, I've got to come back and try other flavours.
Good chicken, good sides, good sauces, good spices. Cardboard and wooden plates, cutlery and cups. Very friendly staff. Our group got 3 Tasting Boxes, everyone enjoyed their choice. The banana milk thick shakes were epic, and the ice tea was refreshing.
Sam makes the best shakes btw!
I got the original and harissa chicken. It was 10/10 however I was a bit disappointed by the sides. The fries were a bit too thick for my liking and the hushpuppies were too dry. Would definitely go back for the chicken though.
Food was delicious. Chicken was juicy, crunchy, and flavourful. Chips was cooked perfectly. Good price for their portions. Friendly staff.
Been eating here for over a year and it's delicious! Best tasting chicken in all of Takapuna (and probably the world) the staff are lovely and the restaurant has really cool artwork. Not sure what else to say... I wish the milkshakes were a tad cheaper then I would get them more often. But overall, very good experience!

I've walked past this place several times but never had a chance to try it until last Sunday. My wife and I went and ordered the Original Fried Chicken, Hot Honey Fried Chicken with Shoestring fries smothered in cheese and jalapenos.
Oh WOW!. It was good. We enjoyed every bite.
I will try the Hot Fried Chicken next time. I have my eye on you!
Online menu says you can get wings in every flavour but it seems like they only come in one. The flavour they come in is just ok. The wings are well priced though whilst the chicken thigh pieces and combos are a little pricey.
The thigh pieces comes in the rest of the flavours. We tried blue cheese and original and they were both delicious. Blue cheese was generous in topping. All the chicken had a crispy light and flavourful coating. Wedges were also well seasoned and delicious.

Staff very friendly and helpful, yummy fried chicken place nice and clean in the heart of Takapuna.
Awesome vibe and atmosphere. Top it off with freshly fried chicken and chips makes the coop one of my top choices to go to.
Like it says, it is finger licking good. Definatly would recommend the original flavor. Will be back to try them all. Great team and service.
