This is one of those places where you say "that looks nice, we must try it one day". Well finally we did, and it was amazing. Clearly it was once a house or something because it has a relatively small counter area and several discreet spaces with proper tables and chairs of different sorts. I love that. The coffee was excellent and the scones we had were served with cream and fresh home made jam. Delicious. It may not be on the lake front, but it's definitely on the "must go to again" list. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Loved the falafel souvlaki - a light lunch packed with fresh ingredients, and frankly the best falafel I've tasted. Great friendly staff, can't wait to be back in Taupo to try more of the menu.

Awesome food and fabulous service. Especially impressed with the way front of house staff talked to a young man with Downs and allowing him time to speak for himself rather than speaking to his parents. Also loved the non traditional brekky fair. Gingerbread French toast is inspired and my daughter also loved the Turkish (I think) eggs with labne and dukkah. Can't recommend highly enough. Oh and the coffee is great.

Very nice and quaint! Friendly, spick and span, nice people nice view over lake and mountain AND yummy food and coffees that are very tasty and NOT burnt! This is how a cafe should be...but also has a sophisticated european vibe about it too!

Big place, lots of seating and parking. Away from the town centre so quieter. Everyone is very friendly and service is good. Banana milkshake wasn't a real banana :( but the berry smoothie was nice. The gingerbread French toast is good, but it gets a little heavy after halfway. I liked the waffles the best, the syrups, compotes and gels all worked well. I would go back for the waffles and the berry smoothie.

Came here on our honeymoon a few years back and it was delicious - I am happy to report there’s still the great same food and service today. This is the ideal cafe stop in Taupo. Today we had the hash stack and eggs Benedict, all perfectly cooked. There’s a strong coffee game here too with nice latte art. Great outdoor seating and ambience.

The Spoon and Paddle has a nice relaxed vibe to it, and a lot of nice outdoor seating, which was especially good on a sunny day. The food was delicious and I got more than expected (I had the Bao Buns). Service was quick, and the staff friendly.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Food was great and the burger portion size was really big. Kids lunches were great too, Had to get a doggy bag for the one of kids as they couldn’t finish their lunch at the time. Outside seating area was great on a warm sunny day. Thumbs up from us.

Had a beautiful coffee here and the French toast Coffee was perfect temp and taste French toast Was very very sweet and as a dish very heavy and quite hard to enjoy if I'm being completely honest But I will be back the staff that front counter was very lovely and welcoming. So ill give them another try with something a little less sweet

Shakshukah was delicious - the sauce was just a little bit spicy, the flavours were excellent, the eggs perfectly runny and the flat bread was nicely warmed. My partner's porridge was also very good, served at the perfect temperature and the toppings and flavour was fantastic. Coffee was also great and the venue itself is very pretty and staffed with lots of lovely people - very much recommend this café.

My first stop on this Road trip up north to highly recommend place called @spoonandpaddle I ordered Waffles 🧇 with White Chocolate and a Berry compote & side of Bacon . Also accompany by a Large soya Mocha. Loved the mocha , great job Kinda sad about the waffle if they were fresh out of the maker it would of be perfect . It was still a 7/10 the meal I would try the eggs Benedict next time . And I be keen to try more ☺️ great hospitality as well very top notice can’t wait to come back
