Great brunch overlooking Lake Taupo. The staff is friendly and service quick. That paired with great coffee and a relaxed vibe made for a great start to this lazy Sunday.
Great selection of cabinet and menu items, both taste and presentation deserve a 5*, likewise for the ambience. Long black isn’t that fab so overall only 4*.
The almond croissant with creamy almond filling is in my top 3 almond croissants I've tried in NZ. Just the right balance of filling to bread. The chocolate one was interesting too but a little dry. Nice ambience, fantastic selection of cabinet food and the location is right next to the water.
Cafe Baku, tucked away as a hidden gem in the heart of Taupo, is a culinary haven serving up an array of seriously delectable dishes. On my recent visit, I opted for the Works Breakfast, and it was nothing short of a feast – a generous heap of eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, and grilled tomatoes that provided the perfect kickstart to my day.
What sets Cafe Baku apart extends beyond its mouthwatering menu; it’s the delightful atmosphere and the warm, attentive staff that make the experience truly memorable. The team exudes friendliness, and their attentiveness adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining affair.
Wholeheartedly, I urge anyone in search of a sublime dining experience in Taupo to consider Cafe Baku. It’s not just about the food; it’s an exploration of flavors in a welcoming haven. My recommendation stands strong – Cafe Baku is a must-visit, a hidden culinary treasure waiting to be discovered by those who appreciate fantastic meals in an inviting setting.
Downside: the cakes were not fresh at all. Do not try them.
A hipster feel cafe by facing Lake Taupo, seems to be quite popular with locals and visitors. Serving atypical Cafe type food, with sandwiches, cakes and pastries. As it is quite popular and turnaround is quite fast, i find the tables are not cleaned properly. Lots of crumbs on the table and underneath the table.
Nevertheless the service is quite fast and the food were quite good and portions were quite generous. We had the steamed mussels which were quite yummy and fresh, the beed pot is their specialty and was very filling, the chicken salad needs a bit of sauce to give more kick to it. Overall was quite satisfactory.
We stopped here for brunch on the way through Taupo. The food was good, vegetarian options available, friendly staff, nice view over the lake. It was a bit too cold to sit outside but you still have a great view from inside.
Wonderful and cozy bar to have a breakfast. Great choices and wonderful chocolate with almond croissant
The score says it all. Really nice cafe. Food is great
A great spot for visitors.
The coffee is a bit more expensive than those up the road, yet this place is popular for a reason. The menu is decent, catering for all dietary concerns.
They were out of the griddle cakes, so I tried the French toast. The brioche is so soft and you have sufficient maple and cinnamon on the side to choose the amount to your liking. The bacon was crispy and flavourful.
Be sure to check the food in the front counter as they have much more selections available than just on their menu.
The flat white was quite milky, which is why this is a 4 star review. Hoping to come again!
I enjoyed my breakfast experience there.
It seemed to be a popular place as I entered they had a few tables available.
