We have been getting takeaway from here for many years but last night was the first time we have actually sat in the restaurant for a meal. We have always loved the food but it was just next level when eating in, the food was beyond divine. We were there for my sister's birthday and the chef had made her a something for desert, we were so full after eating more than our fair share of food that we had to decline and they were so lovely about it. We asked them to give it to one of the kids in the restaurant, I would recommend Lotus Thai to anyone. Thank you so much for the most amazing meal
The food was delicious!! Really enjoyed the staff, service and atmosphere. Meals were incredibly affordable. One of my best Thai restaurant experiences. Will definitely be back.
Staff were very attentive to our needs and all meals arrived together which to me is important so no one was eating while others were waiting. Meals were great and big. Would recommend and will be going back again when in Taupo and feel like Thai food.
We had booked for 11 ppl and had 2 extras, they fit us in with no fuss. They also have fit us in on a very busy night before, the food is fabulous, fresh, and I like the dishes your food arrives in

Found this Restaurant on trip advisor and order 3 main dishes,veggies and rice for 2 people it was lovely and fresh and very generous servings we struggled to eat it all. Service was excellent too.

Not bad. No idea what I ordered but it was Seafood 14 and it was YUM!! Drinks are good. Service was alright, given the amount of people dining.

This was a lovely place to have a Thai meal. We have had a lot of Thai meals in the UK but this is one of the best we have had. Spring Rolls were crisp and light. Prawn on toast was lovely and moist with lots of prawns. Panang curry was fab as was beef in oyster sauce. Also my wife can't take chill at all and the staff were very helpful and even bought replacement sauces. Can't recommend highly enough

Some of the best Thai we’ve had and fantastic service! In fact, it’s hard to say what was better, the delicious food or the hospitality of the staff. Don’t pass up the opportunity to eat here when you’re next in Taupo.

Absolutely Devine food. We had very quick service here. Meals were beautifully presented and very good value for money. We had an early dinner but as it clearly is a very popular restaurant I would book if having a meal after 6pm. I have never seen such sparkly clean glassware either. Plenty of parking as it is at the opposite end of town to most eateries
Went here for the first time. It was recommended by a few people and now I know why… the food was absolutely delicious! And the service was top notch! There’s only been 3 places in my life where I’ve eaten really delicious Thai - 1. Thailand 2. Oriental Thai in Island Bay and 3. Lotus in Taupō… now I will be the one recommending this place :)
The food was excellent. In was in no way their fault I didn't enjoy my yellow curry, that was all on me. The entree coconut soup (forget it's name) was wonderful undertones of Tom yum flavour without the heat. Hubby throughly enjoyed his kebabs and green curry.

Delicious food... We always go to Lotus Thai when in Taupo. Staff /service was friendly, smiley and attentive.
(Missed the lotus shaped napkins on the tables and the hot towel offering they used to do at the end of the meal...nice touches that made Lotus stand out from other similar restaurants)
Great food and service although it will say mild, medium or hot on the menu, you can choose your own heat level.
Kiwi hot is still quite spicy so choose wisely!
One of the better Thai places I've been to in New Zealand. The food here is quite delicious and the portions are decent. The menu has quite a few interesting items and there's always something there that looks tasty. We usually stop by here on the way back to Auckland from Ruapehu if we're going through Taupo.
The nice food and service make it one of the nicer restaurants around.
This restaurant has classic, traditional decor reminiscent of the restaurants I went to as a child in the 1980s. The service was good, attentive and friendly. The meals we had were delicious. My young son was particularly happy with his child's meal of spring rolls and fried rice, which was much more carefully presented than can usually be expected for a child meal.
Amazing food, speedy service even when the restaurant was full (we'd revisited because it was too good not to return) and again, amazing food.
We love Thai food so often eat in Thai restaurants (usually good but certainly not always). We were just passing through Taupo and were lucky to have dinner here as this is definitely one of the better ones. It was a really delicious meal - everything that we ordered was lovely. I was particularly excited that they had Prawn Toast which most places don't do any more and I was not disappointed with it.
The service was fast, efficient and friendly even though they were pretty busy (being a Saturday night after a big sporting event had been on in Taupo that day). We will definitely return for another meal the next time we are eating out in Taupo.
Really yummy Thai, had crispy pork curry and duck and cashew, both absolutely delicious, and lovely service too!
Tasty thai food but i believe they can be better as the tom yum is not spicy enough. They should give option to cook the authentic taste when patronise by tourists but again probably they need to cater to local taste.
A wonderful dining experience was had at the Lotus Thai. Its one of my favourite places to visit when in Taupo.
I had the Duck with Cashews. A sweet, medium hot dish with vegetables and rice (in a heart shape - nice touch)
The service was amazing as usual. Such nice staff and very attentive.

I had my 70th birthday celebration at Lotus Thai on a Saturday night recently with friends and family. We were a group of about 35, from little children to pensioners. The team at Lotus Thai could not have been more helpful. They looked after vegetarians beautifully, and the small chdren. Everyone loved the food and the efficient service. Recommend this restaurant, all stars.
