Very friendly and attentive, food was great and the portions were larger than I was expecting for the quality and price.
We visited on Mother's Day 2022. The whole experience was flawless. They have a diverse menu that surely appeals to a wide variety of dinners. The ambience of the dining room is warm and inviting and not crammed. The welcome was friendly and the table staff have hospitality plus, but it comes with a genuine desire to make your experience special.
Our meals were beautifully crafted and presented. I received my steak cooked perfect, medium rare, very well done chef.
All in all we couldn't fault the experience and we'd recommend highly.

Foods are delicious. Price is a bit high, approx $40-50 per person without drinks. Service is good. Waiting time for food to be served was around 20 minutes despite the restaurant was not busy. Their coffee is good, it is not in the drink menu. We asked the staff and they confirmed that they do make coffee. The restaurant do high tea as well.
Parking is in front of the restaurant as it is always full.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent customer service, great selection of food & wine. The food was fantastic. I went here with my partner for his birthday and asked for a special request of a desert at the end of the meal. We had it delivered out to us and was a surprise for him. Very yummy. Absolutely will be back!
We had breakfast twice and cocktails once at Bistro Lago during our stay at the Hilton. The staff at the restaurant is very friendly, willing to go above and beyond when we had special needs for our kids.
The breakfast is extensive, with warm food cooked to order - normal egg stuff you would expect - and cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, fruit, pastries and a lot more.
They make good cocktails as well, with small plates that are quite delicious (try anything seafood).
We had the most delightful lunch meal for my Mums birthday today. The food was absolutely superb. Customer service 10/10 atmosphere and location amazing. If you haven’t experienced the new lunch deal, you really need to book now. You won’t be disappointed. Taupo Hilton management and staff. Thank so much for making Mums birthday a special occasion.
Absolute class. Amazing food. Great atmosphere with a fire. Top quality service with a smile. Despite being fine dining, our kids loved the food. Recommend the lamb and for kids the antipasto platter was ideal for 2 kids. Breakfast was also exactly what we wanted. Great buffet. Will.come back.
The best martini Tobias has ever had. As well as the fish and chips, salt and pepper calamari and autumn greens. I had some delicious Hawkes Bay Chardonnay and Organic SauvBlanc. The staff were engaging and courteous. Informative and kind.

Food was superb - especially the Gisborne Tarakihi and Chips, which was one of the best "fish 'n chip" meals I've had - simple but all the basics were perfectly executed.
Partner's entree size pate disch was delicious and perfectly presented.

The dinner is marvellous: beef is soft, oyster is fresh, cauliflower soup is yummy. The buffet breakfast is enjoyable too.

Had the high tea here today and it was so delicious! Views were lovely, and staff very helpful and informative of the hotel origins and menu. Everything was fresh and very tasty. Highly recommend going and trying it!

Food is the winner here and the service is phenomenal.
Had the yellow finn tuna and the scotch filet and both cooked to perfection.
