We experienced the 5 course degustation with wine match. The food was beautifully prepared and presented on the very cool Quirky ceramic plates. The food and wine served were very generous portions. I really didn’t need my cocktail! Highly recommended and worth visiting Taupo for.
The menu was excellent in taste and visually. The restaurant has a partially open kitchen, so it was a pleasure to watch them work (the interplay looked like a long-prepared movie shot). Everyone! And how much fun they're having! There is a great sense of ease about them, which they can transfer to the guests, who leave enthusiastically. They also bake their own bread. Excellent!
We're not great connoisseurs, but we've visited some famous restaurants back home in Europe, including Michelin-starred ones. This was clearly the best. And yet the price was nowhere near the same. I don't understand how they can do such an excellent job for such low prices. Thank you!

We did the 5 course menu with wine pairings for each meal and everything was divine! I can’t flaw anything. It was all perfect in its own unique way. I also love how intimate it was with now more than 30 people at one time. 10/10
Anniversary dinner. 5 set menu. Nice and cozy atmosphere. Quite small place so don't expect to have romantic talks, there will be tables close by when full occupancy. Really good chef with nicely selected dishes. I guess out of 5 the one with uncooked buckwheat was totally strange to the european way of eating buckwheat. Amuse-bouche at the beginning was outstanding.
We had a lovely time at Embra. The food was great, some of the dishes were incredible! The raviolo was definitely our favourite of the night. Great vibes for a relaxed tasting menu
We had an awesome meal at Embra tonight. Had the 5 course degustation which was so tasty & amazing. It was my birthday so I loved the wee birthday card & chocolate treat with a candle 🥰 It was a fabulous experience & we highly recommend it!!
Go eat here! The food was incredible, every dish and the service was so warm and friendly. We had half of the group that are vegetarian, the adapted set menu was amazing we were so happy they could cater to us. I didn't expect to have such an amazing meal during our visit, and fully intend on making it part of the agenda every time we come to town.
If you are looking for something a bit special, this is the place for you. I can only describe the food as exceptional. It's one of those places that you will talk about for years to come and it's not just the incredible food, it's the whole package, the service, the wine, the attention to detail. Embra truly is an experience you won't forget in the best possible way and worth every single dollar.
A bit of a hidden gem in Taupō, I didn't even know this place existed until recently. We had the 5-course degustation with a wine pairing, and it was absolutely delicious. Some of the food could have done with a little more seasoning but the presentation, meal sizes and atmosphere were great. We will definitely be back when there's a new menu out.
