Here is how to deserve a pie and enjoy it too... Don't have lunch, drive to Te Anau (200km) in anticipation of this pie, you drop off the clients, walk 1km from hotel to this pie shop, order a coffee and pie, only to realise you left the wallet on the bus! Walk, run, marathon back to the bus for 1km, grab wallet, walk back knowing you will surely get some now... Pie that is, humble pie... Get the 2nd pie because you are now really hungry, sweaty and moody... And grab a coffee! Bliss! By the way, beats Arrowtown Bakery any day and many other so called amazing places. Right up there with Mrs. Ferg in Queenstown and Copenhagen in Christchurch. Te Anau "Miles Better Pies and More" you rock!

The best pies I've ever had. A bit more expensive than other pies but the quality and quantity of the filings justify the price difference. Went back for more. I think if I lived in Te Anau I'd end up the size of a house in no time. Good job we were only there 2 days

I run a The Hippo Lodge in Queenstown and have been sending people here since 2005. Why? Because they are, without a doubt, the BEST (and I mean the BEST) pies in all of New Zealand, if not the world! :) GO THERE!!!

The steak, bacon and mushroom pie was the best pie I have had. The steak was chunky and so tender and the gravy was flavoursome. It doesn’t need extra sauce as it is so tasty! The filling was the perfect consistency and the pie crust had amazing structure. I’m not usually blown away by pies but this is a must have when in Te Anau!

After eating at least 3 famous pie shops In south New Zealand , i think i can claim this to be almost the best pie shop in South Island! Meat is savoury. Venison melts in your mouth and even the lamb mint is delightful! The other Sxxxx's pie near Christchurch crust might be just that bit crispier though.

Great pies! The ingredients were delicious and tasty. I ordered steak and pepper and it's stuffed with streaks and well marinated with pepper. Only comment is the pie crust, I'd love it to be more buttery and flaky. Coffee here are very reasonable priced compared to places down the road. $4.5 compared to $7. Big difference.

Bacon and Egg Pie! Yum!!! Stopped by on the way through to Milford Sound. There's actually not alot happening at Te Anau, alot of the stores/shops are either closed or empty. This pie shop on the far end was a great choice. Neat little store with a wide selection of pies. The ingredients and pastry were very very tasty. Loved it, recommend it to anyone going by! Will definitely be back the next time I go past!

Absolutely amazing!! This place rocks!! My venison pie was one of the best pies I've ever had. Full of meat, chunky pieces of delicious meat. And bloody filling with a great pastry. My sausage roll was also really tasty and big too. My lamb and mint pie, was full of chunky pieces of meat and a great mint sauce. This place is definitely worth a visit. I'd go back just to get these pies again. And I'm not kidding. Just perfect.

Had Steak & Pepper pie ($7). Crust was only alright, taste wise is acceptable but if you're looking for bang for your buck this is it - the meat filling was generous, you get a bite of it in almost every mouthful. Worth getting if you want to fill your tummy as a grab-and-go food

The pie was (Steak, Mushroom & Bacon) amazing. The steak was chunky and soft. Pie crust was just right on thickness. Overall taste was flavourful 🤤

About a 10 minute wait when we arrived at 930am. We ordered the steak, mushroom & bacon as well as the creamy chicken and both were SO GOOD. Considering the fact that we only consumed it after almost 3 hours and it still tasted amazing, it would have been even better when you have it fresh.

The seafood pie here was very nice. I like places with small menus done well. Many pies sell out before 1pm so best to go earlier in the day.

YUM! I've tried a lot of vegie pies in NZ and this is the best one yet by far! The filling is really tasty and the pastry is light without being too flaky. We also tried the shortbread and it was done perfectly. Delicious coffee too. And the person who served me was so friendly and warm. I wouldn't mind if the pie was just a little hotter, but it's a cold day so maybe it just cooled down quickly.

Delicious pies, best we had in 3 weeks in NZ. Loved both the lamb and the venison. Coffee was also good. There was a bit of a queue but totally worth the wait.

Miles better pies was one of the saving graces for us in this tiny town during Winter where a lot of restaurants were closed. We had their venison and seafood pies and wow, the venison pie was juicy and chock full of tender gorgeous meats. Love how the crust holds the generous pie fillings so well. I’m not too keen on venison as my choice of meat but this was A+

Definitely deserving of the name. This was the first place we came to after completing the Kepler Track. We ordered the Steak & Cheese, the Steak & Pepper and the Steak, Bacon & Mushroom to share between the two of us. The pies were so good we added on the Lamb & Mint, and the next morning we came back to get the Vegetable pie on our way out of Te Anau. Service is so warm and friendly and the Miles Better Pies team even remembered our orders the next morning.

A bustling little pie shop in Te Anau, clearly high in the NZ pie ladder with beautiful housemade pies and a quickly depleted cabinet. Had the lamb and mint and was extremely satisfied. Heaps of big lamb chunks complimented perfectly with a coating of mint sauce. Only improvement would be that the warmer needs to be a tad hotter.

I tried the Venison pie and it was tasty and full of chunky meat pieces. Pastry was fluffy too. The Seafood pie tasted like you were having seafood chowder. 4 stars as my go to Mince and Cheese was only ok, ad the mince didn't have gravy taste to my liking. Try for yourself and see
