A cute little cafe takeaway shop with a garden, good coffee, near public toilets, beach and Te Waha O Rerekohu, the 600 year old Pohutukawa and the beach. A life saver in the middle of not alot. I could also access Internet here, but not further along the East Cape.
My go to when having a kai on the coast, Te Araroa hard. Best burgers.
Great fish and chips and great coffee. Very reasonable prices and family friend atmosphere. Great little outdoor area to relax. Big thick pieces of Hoki fillet beautifully fried.

Some of the most delicious fish and chips I have ever eaten. Golden crispy batter, succulent moist fish and generous serve of chips. I highly recommend the Kai Kart, friendly people and excellent food. A+
What's not to love. It's the only eatery for 100's of kilometers after 3pm.! 😀. Simple fish and chips/ burgers,, but nice and lite served with salad. No gluten free, but managed with a couple of eggs with fries. Very reasonable price. It worth supporting this remote town.
Outstanding food and service....also available is some of the most beautiful honey I've ever tried at a very reasonable price ..a must stop in before heading on to the east Cape lottin point.
Delicious food and drinks. Big servings and tastes fresh. Service is friendly and the outdoor seating area is great especially with little kiddies. Definitely stop in if you're in Te Araroa, we always do!

After a drive out to the lighthouse yesterday my wife and I stopped at the kai kart, for a snack, lovely service from the 2 ladies working and beautiful spring rolls, wedges with sour cream and cheese and very nice thick shakes. We didn't need to have much for dinner last night.Thank you.
For those able to make the trek out this far well worth the while. Tasty fresh fish and chips and well presented. The cafe has a well presented outdoor eating area. Recommended!

Had lovely breakfast here, bacon and eggs etc, great coffee. Bought a trifle to take away for later. That was so nice. Pity they are so far away from home for me, would love to go back.
Great eats! Really good coffee. You have to have a “toastie.” Try the egg and bacon one! This place really surprised me. And buy a t-shirt from there! I was so lucky to eat there!
