Such a gem! Lovely staff made us feel very welcome, gave some great recommendations and then knocked it our of the park with fresh naans, and some delicious curries. I normally don’t like korma but we ordered one for the table and it was incredible, so full of flavour! Will be going out of my way to come back and try some more of the menu! Thanks for a lovely meal!
Beef saagwala - the rice was very well cooked., the food was hot and the service quick. The flavour of the beef saagwala was not as strong as I have had it elsewhere but it was enjoyable. The beef was tender and the sauce thick. The naan was well cooked.
The service was quick once I placed my order but I did have to wait too long before a server came to the counter. I almost walked out but I wanted to try this restaurant.
Highly recommend Taj Indian Restaurant - we had chicken Madras and paneer makhani and both were absolutely delicious. Medium spicy was just perfect and the garlic naan was good too. The service was exceptional.

The food was delicious and each dish is plenty for one person. Staff friendly and attentive. The best butter chicken, good curry, not pricey and worth the drive. Will be back next time I am in NZ. 🤗❤️
Cosy, air conditioned restaurant for dining in or you can order takeaway. Excellent service from friendly staff. Good wine list with a selection of NZ wines. Plenty of variety on the menu and made to order. Picture is Mango Kulfi - delicious.
Every meal we ordered was totally delicious and the heat of the curry perfectly balanced. Visit the Taj restaurant if you want a well priced meal with large portion sizes and great service. Thanks folks. We'll be back on our next trip.

The meals were really good, the service excellent, the place bright and clean. I know I will enjoy my meal there so I try to eat there whenever I'm in Te Aroha.
Throughly enjoyed our time at Taj, highly recommend . We had the lunch special , butter chicken and added garlic cheese naan, $17.00 and we were full. We were told their food is quite hot ,so we got mild , it was perfect 👌. We came from Waihi wot a lovely little twn. Everyone was SO friendly. Will definitely return. Forgot to add they not shy with the chicken either , had heaps of chicken.

This is the best Indian I have had in years. I recommend pairing the delicious meals with the mixed pickles. I will 100% be ordering again.
Thanks Taj Indian Restaurant for a great birthday evening dining experience. The lamb nawabi and lamb korma were delicate and tasty. Garlic naan scrumptious, and the mango lassi... like a mango ice block. Going in at 5:45 or 6pm meant very rapid service.
The waiter excelled with quality communication, and friendly, helpful service, step by step. He even packed our leftover as a takeaway. Thoughtful action.
Highly recommended Indian restaurant can make Te Aroha and the staff feel rather proud. Recommended.

Taj has some of the best Indian food we have ever tasted! We are originally from Auckland, and spent many years trying different Indian restaurants. A few were very good and but expensive, most were just “okay”. What we didn’t expect is to move down to Te Aroha and experience some of the best Indian food we ever had. Well done Taj, the flavours and consistent quality is just amazing and your meals are up there with some of the best Indian food we’ve tasted in NZ and overseas. As people who just love quality Indian food, we think it’s awesome that we have this amazing little restaurant in our community.
I have eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants in the past and this is definitely one of the better ones. The restaurant is very clean, the staff are very lovely and the food is also delicious (win win all around). Definitely would recommend and will be visiting this restaurant again. Great ending to a great night, thank you! :)
I was visiting from Timaru, came in last night with my mum, aunt and uncle. Service was a bit slow but the meal was worth the wait, loved our entrees, your garlic naan is delicious and the butter chicken perfect. Will definitely be back next time I am in town.
