A fantastic family run restaurant, the food here is way beyond what you are expecting and you can tell the quality by how many locals are in the venue. Very kid friendly too. Caters for all, from a coffee and a fabulous slice of cake/cheesecake/pie to a gourmet meal. The opening times on Google are a bit off saying opens at midnight, the only late opening place in the area we found and glad it was, stop in if passing, you’ll not regret it!

Only place to stop in on a torrential night en route to Napier, were pretty hungry l had chicken bacon brie burger brother had pork belly l was more than happy with my meal he was stoked to have sliced apple with his pork which he had not had before. He was very happy with the food and coffee..very nice head of staff an elderly gent and warmly engaging in a relaxed style. Top job all round by chef and staff, will call in again and recommend anyone traveling through Tirau to drop in and enjoy...

Celebrated mum's birthday there last night. What a fabulous place. Meals were delicious and service warm and friendly. A hidden gem in Tirau. Will make a point of stopping by and tasting the fabulous looking cakes I saw in the cabinet another time.

We stopped at the Loose Goose cafe first time this week by accident as we had passed the cafe i would usually get coffee from in Tirau. I am extremely pleased we did. The staff were a lovely bunch of people and the coffee was great There was a a cake in the cabinet that I couldn't bring myself to get at 9 in the morning, but it looked so delicious that i stopped to get some on the way home. It was The Best Cake i have had in my life. Absolutely divine.

This small comfy hole in the wall at the edge of town will deceive you. You think you'd get a decent burger or fish n chips. Instead you will get absolute five star perfection. The fish was succulent and bursting with flavor. The lamb shanks just melted off the bone into creamy potatoes. What should be a fine dining establishment, is a friendly pit stop with charming service and atmosphere. Passing it up is a mistake.

Pleasant surprise We stopped over on our way from Taupo to Thames on a recent Wednesday night. A salad with lamb and a Burger. Both very nice tasting, good portion and good price. Will happily return for more food.

Always a pleasure. Great service and wonderful fresh food. So nice to see the chefs baking cakes and loaves rather than buying in the processed stuff.

We had a 3 person family dinner and we loved the atmosphere and the service. We ordered a ciabatta entree and was suprised with a freshly baked loaf of ciabatta bread. We throughly enjoyed our mains of a friend snapper and herb crusted lamb cutlets. A must visit for a sumptuous meal.

Delicious! Came on a Friday night after our Hobbiton tour. Looked like a lot of tables were reserved, but they were still able to seat us right away. My husband had the Scottish filet which he said was a bit fatty but was well seasoned. I had the pan seared snapper with an herb butter sauce, and it was amazing and oh so tasty! Kids ate all their chicken tenders, chips, and spaghetti so it was good on their end. We passed on dessert, but they looked yummy too. Great atmosphere, casual yet trendy!

I have just had the best cooked terakihi fish accompanied with perfectly cooked chips served in a cute newspaper wrapper. Coffee was splendid, venue warm and cosy, service was pleasant and absolutely a fan.
