Great place for skiing! My first time learning snowboarding, which was so much fun! I booked a private learning group and each learner got chances to receive individual guidance. The coach was patient. Also, the sledding was of great fun! The ticket allows for an hour of sledding experience. Food and beverage are available in the village. Staffs were all very friendly. Will definitely come back in the future!

This place is amazing. It feels like you are in a dream. It is a must that you check the weather and book ahead so you won't be disappointed if you come on a random and bad day. Once you are at the top, you will be overlooking the clouds below. Constant flow of river-like clouds. Then I suggest you pick the tables at the window side near the alps if you want to eat because the view will leave you in awe. I also suggest coming early during peak season like that of Matariki day where everyone is on holiday so you can have a good parking space. Between 7am to 8:30 would be good before opening time of the Gondola at 9am. It gets congested quite fast so if you want to enjoy your meal at the top, come early. Then, if you want to go skiing, never go after 2 pm, or else you'll wait in line until almost closing time and might miss your schedule. This is during peak season only. On regular days, i think anytime will be fine. Enjoy!

Absolutely wonderful views in the summer! Compares favorably to the alpine crossing. But if you want to make the top you will need to arrive before the gondola opens and bring some crampons or similar (mid December). I did the ridge instead and it was well worth the trip.

Excellent place, facilities and amazing adventures in this ski park. Wonderful day in our visit, even if the day is freezing the warmth of its staff is nice and kind, that you forgot the weather. ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿ˜Œ A lot of variety of activities to enjoy alone or with the family and kids. Restaurants and coffees in the base and over the top mountain very close to the summit. Views and landscape are wonderful ๐Ÿ˜‰. 1000% recommended to visit ๐Ÿ˜Œ it.

Had an amazing time! We are beginners, had a lesson and then practiced afterwards. It's great you get the hired gear to use for the whole day.

The place was awesome..Very nice experience for the kids..the only problem we encountered was, because of the unpredictable weather condition ,the first booking was cancelled, we have to go back again.,but it's worth it.

A great place to spend time with family. All the staff are very kind. They always wear a sweet smile despite of very cold temperatures. Our children enjoyed playing in the snow. ๐Ÿ˜

Whakapapa is a great place for both tourists, skiers and snowboarders to visit. Amazing views. Happy Valley is a great place for beginners to learn how to ski/snowboard. Cafe at the top of the Gondola is a great place to eat lunch with the family and enjoy the lovely view of the pinnacles and down the mountain. Ski patrollers always do a great job at making Whakapapa safe for everyone that visits. Staff always friendly and approachable for when you need help.

We went during the long weekend on 14th July 2023. I strongly recommend looking at weather forecast before buying the ski entrance and ski gear fee. We did a lot of fun during the visit as this is my 1st time playing with the snow and playing ski! Although the snow is turning to ice because of the rain, we still have fun playing ski. Let's just say that I heard people say the snow is much more beautiful and soft and fluffy in Japan. I didn't take much picture because I was busy enjoying the view and playing with the snow. For 1 person, we just paid 144 for ski entrance, sky waka gondola, and the gear. I suggest you come as soon as morning 8am o'clock. The only 1 thing they need to improve is the Q system. It's really mess-up. The staff in the gear store is really helpful and friendly. Buying tickets online is much more convenient rather than queueing up during arrival.

Our experience at Whakapapa Ski Area was absolutely amazing! The gondola sightseeing took our breath away, especially with the added charm of snowfall during our visit. Since our car wasn't 4wd, we picked up snow socks on-site, a smart decision that allowed us to navigate uphill roads effortlessly. It's reassuring to know that they offer this option for non-4wd vehicles, and the price range of $175 - $225 was worth every penny for the convenience and safety it provided. Can't wait to relive this snowy wonderland!

I had a wonderful time at Whakapapa ski field, one of the largest ski areas in New Zealand. The view from the top of the mountain was breathtaking, and the snow was perfect for sledding and skiing. I enjoyed riding the Sky Waka Gondola, which took me to the highest cafe in the country. The entry fee was free, and the price for the gondola and sledding was reasonable considering all the hard work put in to facilitate this place. Before going to the ski field, I checked the weather and road conditions from the Mt Ruapehu website, which was very helpful. The road was open, but I had to get chains or tyre socks for my 2WD car to go up to the mountain. There was a place where I could rent them along with other equipment and gear. Next time, I plan to come back for ski lessons, which are available at the Happy Valley beginnersโ€™ facility2m. I would suggest to purchase the tickets online to avoid the crowd, especially during peak season. Whakapapa ski field is a great destination for anyone who loves winter sports and nature. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a memorable experience in Tongariro National Park.

We were there at 05:30am and we were able to park at the mountain. Cheaper if you bring your own sled. They need to put more toilets.
