We recently moved to Pokeno and whilst it's a nice little community the food options around here are quite limited. We received a brochure of their menu in our letterbox last week and was surprised by a wide range of food offer and the delivery option! We decided to order some food for takeaway tonight and we were not disappointed. We got the Channa Masala, Mixed vegetables curry (vegetarian options) and some nann bread. Food was delicious with just the right amount of spice as we've requested. Friendly staff and good food. Highly recommended! š
Visited The India Restaurant for the first time last night, when both my husband and I were craving for a good hearty meal. Moving to a more rural area, we were worried that our cravings for good food might be a problem since there're less choices. But little did we know, this amazing place situated just 15 mins drive from where we are serves delicious hearty Indian food that even in Auckland is hard to get by. And we later found out, they do home delivery to most rural areas near by as well. Bonus!Ā
We were very happy with our meals. The curries were made with mindfulness and pride of the chef. The favours are complex but well balanced, with a touch of personality. We love going to Indian restaurants ordering the same curry but tasting the slight variations and character differences from different chefs. We got the dine in special prices, which they said the portions was smaller than the normal curry. However, it is still very generous serving size that we couldn't even finish them. The samosas and pakoras were delicious and has good amount of heat in it.Ā Love their nan bread too!Ā
The service was exceptional! The owners were super friendly and very attentive. She took her time to speak to us and explain the menu. I love how they travelled around different parts of India to taste different dishes to see how they should be made. That's the reason behind their delicious tasting dishes.Ā
The sweet lasi and salty lasi were a decent surprise to finish our night with. Love everything about our meal. The only minor thing we think it do without was the air freshener was a bit strong in the restaurant. It's nice but just a bit too strong for our preference.Ā
We would definitely look forward to return there again soon. Can't wait to try their Goa fish curry.
This is a brilliant place, lovely people and amazing food, totally recommend it, all the family love to go here, it is family owned and run by people who care about their food and service
This is our go too.
We have never been disappointed with any of the dishes we have chosen or have been recommended to try. (
Definitely worth asking for their recommendations if you are a bit unsure) and the owners/staff are brilliant.
Went for a Saturday night dinner after church. Service was warm and friendly, also very helpful. First time here and get a few suggestion from lady who served us. Glad we trust her completely, her recommendation of spinach prawn was my favourite.
We ordered mixed entree platter, king prawn saagwala (which was superb!), Navratan Kurma, naan, and dipping sauce. Their garlic chilli naan is one of the best we have tried. All food very well priced as the serving was good. Especially the entry platter (chicken and lamb cooked to perfection). The least favourite would be the samosas (still ok though).
So glad to hear they have branch in Waiuku. Will be added in our go to dinner in Waiuku. Thank you
Great vegetarian options, all freshly made! Very friendly staff who go above & beyond to give you a good experience! My fave is the veggie korma. Dine in, take away or use menulog for delivery! They are open quite late too! A hidden gem!
Great food, prompt delivery even when in the country and friendly staff.
Slightly pricey when others offer $10 curries most nights but worth it when each time the taste is spot on. Would like an extra piece of chicken or 2 though and then it would be a 5/5!
You can't get food like this anywhere outside India. Yum yum yum, nothing left. Yum. This place is 30 mins drive for us but we will be making that trip again. Totally worth it. Yum.
We ordered 24 assorted curries today for our staff lunch and for $10 each everyone got the curry of their choice with rice and butter naan. The curries arrived beautifully wrapped in tinfoil and hot from the pan. Each curry was individually labelled with staff names and came with serviettes and cutlery. We couldn't have been more pleased with the service, they arrived exactly when they they said they would and our staff loved the flavours. We have two staff who are vegetarian and gluten free and The India was more than happy to accommodate them with their choice of Korma curry sauce with vegetables. We will definitely be having curry for staff lunch again. Thank you Mukesh and Ruby.
Ordered for delivery.... Food was absolutely great for a hungry Family of five! Customer Service has got to be one of the best!!! Very polite and personable over the phone and on delivery, you are greeted with the same friendy personable attitude... Thanks to our great friends for taking us to dinner here, I wouldn't have it any other way! The best way to run a business in the food industry! Yummmm!!!
LOVE it soooo much, I went 2 nights in a row! AMAZING service. I asked for recommendation of what to try as I only ever eat Butter Chicken and was recommended Lamb Methi (my new FAV!!!) Now everytime I go I try something different and it's all been LOVELY. š
This place is really good! The butter chicken is how it should be. The sauce is thick, creamy and tomatoey. The chicken is generous, tender and has no fat!!! The garlic naan has always been really fresh too.
Update: Still pumping out consistently good curries with great service. Best indian in all of Franklin in my opinion.
This is the second time we have visited this restaurant and both times have been very impressed. Last night we ordered the special, Lamb Rara, Chicken Biryani and a Peshwari Nan. There was plenty of lamb, very tender and the sauce was well flavoured, the chicken biryani had a nice taste, we think that a biryani should be a little drier with the grains of rice being quite seperate so this did not quite hit the spot, however the peshwari nan was exceptional, light and fluffy with just the right amount of filling.
The ambience may be a little lacking but the food is great and very reasonable, BYO wine.
Amazing atmosphere. I like that it wasn't busy. Staff were amazing. Emptied our table when dishes were empty. Checked we were ok. Reasonably priced meals. Will eat here again. Loved all dishes we tried. Nicely set tables too.
15 years since move to New Zealand very first time found a perfect Indian cousin restaurant. Owners of restaurant was very humble to talk. Food was so fresh and Yummy. You can tell they freshly made food for you not just warm up and serve. 1000% recommend if you really wanted to try proper North Indian cuisine..
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in (Tuakau). The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing ā everything we tasted melted in other mouths, their naans are very light and yummy. Absolutely the best meal we had recently.. My toddler loved their fish tikka.. Highly recommend!
After scouring most of Africa and India, I would say this is undoubtedly New Zealand's best authentic Indian restaurant. Compliments to the chef and the tandoor oven. The Salmon starter was absolutely divine and the Prawn Tikka Masala was better than most found in Northern India. Trust me, as a Durbanite, I know my curry. P. S. Bunnies not served here... yet.
The best Indian Restaurant in the area. They communicate with their customers and go above and beyond to offer a great service. The quality of their food is way above anything on offer elsewhere, including as far as Pukekohe. 100% recommend choosing these guys over any other Indian. You won't be disappointed.
Adding on after another order. Service still top class. Food still outstanding. 100% will use again.p
An hidden gem of a restaurant. Wasn't expecting much from the location, but the food was outstanding - loved the masala poppadoms and honey sesame cauliflower as entrees; they put so much effort into the look of their dishes, and the contrast in colours as well as the tastes and textures is just beautiful. An absolute dining pleasure.
The chicken tikka was my favorite. Travelled out of area to visit here. Plenty of to go orders going out the door which was a good indication of the food.
Service was abit slow but over all a good meal.
The food is authentic in flavour & taste, ingredients high quality and fresh. One of the best Indian restaurants around! We have had Indian food in India, the Middle East, Australia/NZ & Europe ~ this was one of the nicest.
We had the vegetarian starter platter which had the most wonderful samosas. Mains we had & recommend: Paneer kadhai, Chicken tikka masala & butter Paneer with naan, rice.
It was a lot of food for two adults, we would skip the starter platter & drop a curry next time simply because we couldnāt eat it all!
~ the restaurant is on āfirst tableā so we got 50% off the bill - download the app! Booking fee applies
Great service. Went for lunch. As they only did takeaway during day. Owner was accommodating and allowed us to dine in as weather was horrible outside.
Will diffinatly be going back there purely on the great service we received.
I reached NZ two months before, I visited many indian restaurants here . But I liked the food I ordered from this restaurant tonight. I loved the food. Taste was awazing. Staff was also cooperative.
First timer here, absolutely delicious dishes, ordered a lamb madras, chicken saag, and lamb biryani.
The curries were creamy and meat juicy and tender. The biryanin had very succulent big pieces of lamb and the spice mix was mouth watering. Will be coming back. Thanks team
Best indian restaurant in auckland. Never disappointed. The biryani is soo delicious just like every other dish. Highly recommend.
This is awesome. I take visitors there for dinner. Never a complaint and sooooooooo tasty.
Really good local Indian restaurant. Recommend the specials and the butter chicken but the other dishes are also decent.
Now normally, I wouldnāt go and write a review if the place serves good food, thatās just what Iād except, however this place is fingerlicking good. One of the best Kohlapuri Iāve eaten outside the Asian subcontinent. Really good entrees and mains selection. Proper tasting food is hard to find. This is a go to for us.
Beautiful food and service from all the staff, the atmosphere was lovely and the others dining in around us were respectful and pleasant everyone mingled. The chef personally came out and had a talk with us š I had a wonderful dinner and evening, also have lunch for Tomorrow, 5 stars, will be back more often.
