Staff are the only thing that let the review down, are not very attentive and a bit slow and welcoming you in. Had to ask for plates for our starter and for a drinks menu. We shared the garlic pizza bread to start. It was fantastic, perfect flavours and the base was amazing and crispy and homemade. It was huge and worth the price! I enjoyed the roast beef meal, again a massive dish and worth the price, the gravy was excellent as well the beef. I enjoyed the creamy cauliflower and roast potatoes too. The horseradish sauce was delicious too and the Yorkshire pudding were great. Definitely great food
Nice food, salmon dish was nice, bread in the blt a bit tough, big breakfast good. Great service, good atmosphere feels like a country pub.
I've taken both my parents here for dinner in the past couple of months and both times it was absolutely delicious. I had the lamb shank both times and I loved it so much my first visit, the jus that accompanies the dish is to die for. The hotel has changed a lot in the past couple of years and is now stunning. With the new kitchen team in place I can only see the place improving even more.
I have been in Tuakau Restaurant for diner a few times and can say that it is the most wonderful venue in Franklin area. The food is very tasty and reasonably priced and the waitresses are friendly and caring.
May be the negative reviews are relevant to different restaurant management, as these are quite old, but now I find Tuakau Hotel's restaurant truly excellent and recommend it highly to everyone who appreciates classy surroundings and good food.
This old pub has atmosphere to spare and the range of areas to sit and while away a few hours on a Saturday afternoon is great. We visited with family and sat in a booth watching the world go by. The service was excellent, adove and beyond. When ordering a range of drinks for the entire family the staff came from behind the bar to help carry the drinks to our table. We had pizzas which all went down well.
Big tick Tuakau Hotel; the facilities are great but your staff were the shining light for us that day.

*Suggestion, please use a smaller spoon like a 10ml teaspoon. The spoon we had was too big, it was roughly a 15-20ml spoon. It was hard to scoop the mousse out from the narrow end of the dessert glass.
Overall Elsie's restaurant deserves a 5 star rating. Of all the restaurants I've been to, this place by far has the fastest service all the time. Not my first time here and definitely not my last.

Server suggested the special of the day (ribs). Was a nice serving, but a bit too many chips. Love the coleslaw.

Great place to meet up with friends and family- can book ahead if you have a large group and you are set up in a separate area off the restaurant.
Food was great - large portions- everyone enjoyed their meals - several menus to choose from - includes a child's menu and a seniors menu.

We regularly visit on a Saturday after bowls, quick drink and a bowl of fries, the girls behind the bar are always very pleasant and the service is good.
Food is always of good quality and quantity is generous.
Always look forward to our visit.
For a small town restaurant, our group of 10 (incl 5 kids) were highly impressed with not only the fantastic quick service but also the variety on the menu and impeccable food!! We will be sure to travel afar to visit this place again.
Amazing place, great atmosphere will def be back. The risotto was the best my dad had ever had (and he’s had a lot of them all over the world!) a great menu that caters for the whole family, the meals are huge and very good value. I would def recommend this restaurant and will come back and also stay in the amazing hotel above …the chef is amazing really knows his stuff👌
Good food & Service with a variety of meals to cater for all. They are happy to accommodate food preferences where they can (gluten free etc) Toni does a fantastic job managing the restaurant & bar. We attend Trivia night, always fun. Cheers to the chefs & staff & Paul the Trivia Master. Highly recommend.

Chips served cold. No longer able to order kiddies meal for adults who cant eat much. Told it was the new owners who wont allow it. Dont know why chips were cold as fish was very hot.
Went here for the kareoke night, always fun to catch up with friends here. I didn't have food but others bought some chips and they were nice and crispy and fresh tasting and the pizza was nice too.
We had a mothers day lunch with family , this place is amazing the food was amazing, the flavours was amazing . I would highly recommend stopping off here for a meal. You will not be disappointed.
