Outstanding food - home made dim sum and wonton's are lovely, as are the pork buns. Seafood is cooked from scratch when you order it, not pre-cooked and 'finished off'. Highly recommended - and yes, be prepared to wait, because they are generally busy because they're good!
Best fish and chip in Upper Hutt! Fresh and light batter, homemade fish cakes, potato fritters and burger patties! Generally a wait due to popularity! Highly recommend ringing ahead!
My review is only for the battered fish, personally the best in upper hutt, its not precooked and you can taste the difference simply melts under the light crispy batter. Also the home made tartare sauce its full of flavour but light, its the only one I buy now don't be surprised if you find yourself dipping your finger in it.
Great service! Clean shop which transferred to their food. Ordered a fish, scoop of chips and a steak’n’egg burger. Unlike most takeaways/fish’n’chip shops they use fresh fish and battered it on the spot. Loved it all and look forward to my next visit!
Always excellent fish 🐟 and chips here🍟. The burgers 🍔 are also tasty and value for money 💰plus a good selection. May's Takeaways is very busy from about 5pm to closing time most days of the week.

They are a lovely friendly couple who are eager to please, and when not to busy and under pressure, they serve with a smile!. I think they have they best fish in Upper Hutt. It is so yummy with crunchy batter , not soggy. I ask for my chips well done and they come out perfect, just how I like them, crunchy on the outside but soft in the middle. I highly recommend them 🤗😄

Chips were good not too much salt, hot dog was huge and didn't have more batter than meat, burger patty was of decent size
Clean and tidy fish and chips store. Have a good range of food choices. Tried their Chicken Deluxe burger based off another review and it was fantastic. Very large burger (no need for chips) it had a large crumbed chicken piece, coleslaw, cheese, bacon and fried egg. Will try their other burgers now.
