Good hearty meals at a decent price. Nice local pub with friendly staff. Would definitely recommend coming here and will be back when in town again.

We went to the Sterling Tavern for a meal. Service was great along with the food. The only thing that could have been improved was a bit of salad with my seafood plate. Price was ok. Recommended.

Best place to eat for dinner in Waihi. Kids menu was great and if you like burgers, I had the chicken burger and by far the best burger I've ever tasted. Chicken parmi was underwhelming but not everything can be perfect. $12 cheese burger and fries for kids was a meal for a adult. Beers cold and goo

Nice local bar for a hearty meal. We had Dixie chicken and Guinness hot pot. The food was ok. The kids meals were great value though! We also played pool afterwards for a while which was nice.
We were a party of 8 who visited The Sterling Friday evening April 14th. We could not have been more impressed. We had traveled from Auckland for a weekend exploring the Waihi area and our evening at the Sterlng was the highlight of our visit. A friendly greeting met us as soon as we walked through
Took my sister there for lunch. We were right on the cutoff for the kitchen to close. But they made a choice to serve us. The food was good. A busy day probably because of heading into holidays so the noise level was a bit above what I class as comfortable. Otherwise a very nice experience.

I love it here. It's peaceful the food delicious. I love their deep fried camenbert cheese with plum dipping sauce. My hudband had a medium cooked sirloin with salad eggs and chips he enjoyed it. On of our go to when we have time pljaces
Depends what you are looking for but this is old school NZ pub setting where the meal, prices and staff were excellent. And its a non pretentious setting where you can relax. Been before and will go again!
Went to the Sterling pub last night for dinner and I must say best steak I've had in years and the salad was so fresh, think I'm gonna go there tonight for dinner as well. YUM!!
Nice atmosphere, for $33 I got a perfectly cooked sirloin steak, a nice green salad, eggs, chips and a nice cold Corona to wash it down. Happy smiling staff. It's a nice break in a roadie. I'm looking forward to next time.
Delicious lunch. I had the open steak sandwich and couldn't eat it all. Generous portions. Will definitely stop in here again on our way through.
Big entrees, didnt realise how big the portions are the price is well worth it. The kids menu for a burger is a decent adult sized. The taste of the food was delicious. The staff are friendly. Real nice atmosphere
