I’m actually obsessed with this place. Amazing and friendly staff, wide variety of sweet and savory treats, and tasty coffees accompanied by a rustic garden environment. I make it a point to stop in every time I visit from the States. Totally sweet and casual spot. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional :)

I love love love your bakery! The breads give me a sense of home in Germany! Good bread (through the eyes of a german) is a rarity here in New Zealand, so this is a gem! I was wondering, have you ever considered baking soft pretzels? german style? That would me happy like a kid in a candy store :)

Love this bakery . Fabulous cakes which not only look amazing but taste amazing as well . And what wonderful staff, so helpful . When we found out one of our guests was dairy free they whipped up some macrons an filled them with cherry filling -- she was thrilled an said they were the best she's ever had. Best bakery in Kapiti .

Amazing bakery! Understated and rustic, but the food was superb without being pretentious! Was recommended from someone we knew in Wellington and we made the special trip on way back to Hamilton. Friendly and warm staff.... Wish we lived closer! The Pies... The scones... Even the milkshake....

brioche, almond crossaints, coffee. the best danishes and my husband loves the chicken pies. and holy crap the cheese scones. i had one every day i was pregnant. lol. so lucky to have such a great place just down the road. my dog is addicted to the little short bread you get with your coffee and will stare at the cup until you give it to her. lovely staff, great food. only complaint - got to get there early as stock runs out so fast!

Grabbed lunch on the go on Sat 31 August, and ate down at the beach. An extraordinary range of awesome food choices, and a very cool vibe. The place was packed with waiting customers, but service was quick, friendly and efficient. My mince & cheese pie had lovely flaky pastry, but the filling was a bit salty. My Dad had a beef and beer pie, but found the beef chewy. I also had a choc & apricot pastry, which was fantastic. Parking is a bit of a challenge (not much they can do about it, but it's worth noting if you haven't been there before). I definitely want to go back and try a few more things.

Everyone in town knows about this bakery and raves about it. The pastries, cakes and pie are so delicious and cute. Theres plenty of space out the back to chill and indulge. Definitely not your typical remote beach town bakery, the standard of their product belongs in the city!. See this in the app

We come here whenever we're up at the bach because it's literally around the corner. Been many, many times. Excellent baked goodies, super friendly staff and a good atmos. Cheese scones are out of this world - and I am very fussy about scones. Coffee is delicious. I've had good short banter with many of the staff and I love how they put out samples to try. It makes me buy more food. Their bread is also excellent. An asset to Waikanae. Zero pretension and a general good buzz.

I've been in a few times and bought a pie. My favourite is the chicken and bacon which just has big chunks of chicken, decent bits of bacon, enough sauce to keep it moist and the best pie pastry I've ever had. They have a limited range of gluten free products, but every now and then they make a GF chocolate and caramel tart which my husband would walk over hot coals for! There's a nice outdoor seating area, but very little shade which is a shame. The indoor bit is also very cramped, and we sometimes have to wait on the street to even get in. Coffee is average and the chai is average the hot chocolates are good. But did I mention the pie??? :o)

This bakery is fantastic, a real hidden gem. I was first taken here a couple of months ago by some work colleagues while driving to a meeting in Palmy. I've been back four or five times since.

The quality of the produce is far beyond any other bakery I've visited. Proper ingredients, not artificial tasting.

The pies are epic, I mean seriously epic. I've even tried ones that I'd usually find mediocre but they are great too. What a difference proper ingredients make!

The bacon and egg was not a favourite choice of mine but they Olde Beach one is fantastic. Fluffy, light egg and a slice of proper bacon folded inside. Beautiful.

The Chicken and Bacon is probably my favourite. Moist chicken, tasty filling. I tried the Beef Bourguignon yesterday. It was rich and flavoursome.

All the pies we've had have exceeded expectation. They don't spare the filling either. The pastry is light and buttery.

They have a good selection of pastries. Very French. Delicate, you can taste the quality, not overly sweet or artificial.

You see the guys cooking and preparing everything. They do good coffee too. Whenever we've been, it's been busy... understandably.

It’s not the cheapest, but it’s worth it. You get what you pay for. I'm happy to pay the extra.

As you can tell I love this place and highly recommend it.

Any time I'm up Waikanae for work i always try to stop by this place. The cakes are great and fresh, the pies are tasty and honest, the coffee is done well and the girls are always smiley. Good to see the baker out-front too. My only complaint is that there needs to be an Olde beach bakery near my house in Karori/wellington.

A little gem hidden away at Waikanae Beach. Too much choice in delicious cakes, bread, croissants etc. The croissants were the nicest we've had outside of France. Superbly light & with the full butter taste but not greasy.
I needed a birthday cake made with 24 hours notice, for a visiting friend, it was made on the day was delicious & very reasonably priced.

Stopped in this morning on trip to Harrisons Garden World. Awesome pies - tried the Cheese & Mince - baked to perfection and coffee. Have to say the Flat White was perfect and to our taste. Nice area outside to sit. Easy to find! We will be back:-)

Have been to Olde Bakery twice now, once to pick up some things to share with my boyfriend and his family, and another time very recently for coffee and something sweet with friends. The second time we sat outside and enjoyed the Sunday morning sun in the courtyard - it was so lovely. You can’t go wrong here as there are great options for everyone. I really enjoyed my coffee and hot cross bun, and remember finding the donuts and pastries to be super tasty! Highly recommend giving this place a visit, I will be back again I am sure. There’s a reason it is so popular!

I love this place. Waikanae's best kept secret. The food is amazing (my favourite is the French Toast, it's truly next level), the coffee is wonderful but best of all, Chrissy and her colleagues deliver customer service at a level that just gives you warm fuzzies. 😊 I drive 45 minutes to come here, it's absolutely worth it. 10 stars

Just popped in 15 minutes or so ago. I just moved here recently on the street over and omg delicious steak & cheese pie and donut! I've taken on the price point difference in Waikanae compared to Lower Hutt where I've moved from, but rest assured you're paying good money for quality ingredients! The steak was sooo tender, it melted through every bite. The cheese was nice and sharp tasting (I LOVE CHEESE) so to be able to taste it in the pie was so good! The donut was sooo fresh & fluffy with the perfect sweet ratio. Can't wait to come in and try more goodies, well worth the money & amazing customer service to the lady working this afternoon. Cheers!!

Some vegan options available. There could have been a little more choice though! As there was only 1 or 2 options. (Everything else looked very yummy rhough)! Serves the brand Rich coffee which was very nice.

There's a reason there always seems to be a line and they sell out quickly. Their pies are heaven and you'll dream about the donuts! I love that I can sit outside with my dogs. I've never had a disappointing experience.

Probably the best looking food I've seen in a bakery in years. Got myself a steak and cheese pie, it was probably one of the nicest pies I've ever had, delicious steak, top notch cheese and amazing pastry. Definitely a great place to stop on the way thru.

Good shop, really nice pie and food options, but really stings the pocket, I know everything is getting more expensive, but I just think a little shop in Waikanae could be a tad more reasonably priced, but it seemed busy enough, so I could be wrong

March2021: Back again.. Omgoshh, brought an out-of-towner here for a treat.. 😜😍 This time, coffee, beer&brisket pie, and lemon merange tart and a seat at the beach.. D. E. V. I. N. E Feb2021: Nothing to look at on the outside.. But once you are in OMGosh. What a delight. Compact space, clean, inviting, and busy. The food was being replaced, as quick as it was being put into the paper bags. Coffee&Cake (raspberry donut) to the Beach. Both freah and delish.

Such fabulous food. The pastries are so flakey and delicious. The cheese scones are amazing. It's well worth any wait. The service is quick but over the summer they are extra busy.
