Looking for food on Waitangi Day. Stumbeed on this place and was mightily impressed. Excellent waitressing and advice about the food. The beer tasters and the spearmint milkshake were extraordinarily good. We'll be back, and how.

Great service, great food. The beers are brewed on site and are top notch esp the Gose and the double IPA. And the hand pulled stout. The tasting platter of beer is generous. My chicken had crispy buttermilk batter. It was a little oily so I couldn’t give top marks. All else was delish, including the sauces. You must try the bbq sauce also made by the restaurant. Recommended.

We had a lovely lunch here. We shared two burger meals and they were both very tasty. The salad had nice flavour touches - fresh herbs and pickled onion. Fairly minimalist menu, a bit more choice would be good as we want to keep coming back! Both our servers were awesome - warm,  funny and quietly friendly.  Nice to have a peek into the brewery while we ate and I'd be keen to try some of their beer next time.  4.5 stars

Had a large party and they easily sat us. Get the brisket...outside of Texas or Kansas, this is one of the best smoked brisket I've had. Jalapeno poppers are also good. Excellent cocktails, too. Check out the espresso bbq sauce. It had a nice subtle bite to it. Not super hot, 4 out of 10 on the hot scale. Staff was attentive and helpful. We also had a gluten-free person who was easily accommodated.

Food was amazing, best egg bene I have ever had, brisket was just delicious! Son had a burger it was huge and he loved every bite! Hubby had the loaded fries with gravy! Oh and the Coffee was just so good! Coming from Auckland prices were to be expected but the good itself was worth every dollar! And how cool it is also a brewery! Was a bit early in the day for a cold one but we will be back for sure!!

Had the small brisket and kumara salad. It was really tasty and will definitely head back. The large brisket (left in my photo) was huge! It was good quality, and a friendly vibe

My kind of brewery and food. You can share nicely cooked smoked brisket, honey smoked bacon and pulled pork burgers. The hallmark of Salt and Wood Collective is serving tasty pancakes, cheesecakes and the chocolate bomb. Other breakfast meals worthy mentioning are eggs 🥚 Benedict and the Kiwi big breakfast 😋 The beer and stout is excellent.

Good, went there for a gathering event. Did not try the brisket, but it seemed really good. They have a proper smoker as well to make the brisket. Good selection of craft beer.

Yum yum yum!!! My biggest complaint is how hard it is to decide what to eat. Great vibe, friendly staff, delicious food. Ticks all the boxes. New favourite!

Fantastic meal, huge portions, very filling. The only downside and its minor is that it's quite noisy. Service was excellent as well. Update: 2nd Feb 2020 - came for breakfast/brunch and it was fantastic. A Breakfast Burrito and Burnt End Brisket. Definitely recommend and going back.

What a hidden gem! This place is off the tourist track but well and truly enjoyed by locals. Food was delish and service was impeccable and super friendly. Wine and beer selection is out of this world which lots of local stuff as well as the beer brewed on site. If we were staying longer in the area we would have went for round two. Can recommend the Buckwheat and Pumpkin Salad and the fries (these were amazing).

The tried & tested match of beer & BBQ are done so right at North End Brewery / Salt & Wood Collective in Waikanae. The beers @northendbrewing are kiwi versions of traditional European styles, and our favourite, "Become the Ocean", is a unique gose that takes flavour inspiration from the Kapiti coast: tart, fruity & just a little bit salty. The food @saltandwoodbbq is big, bold & smokey BBQ, with fresh Olde Beach Bakery buns, locally grown produce & some of the best bread & butter pickles we've had in a long while. Fantastic pairings, will be back again!

Everything tasted really great except the coleslaw, which was totally bland. It seemed to be chopped red cabbage and nothing else. They gave me some extra dressing when I asked for it, but the dressing was pretty bland too - only a slight improvement. The pulled pork was delicious, the brisket burger and the jerk chicken were slightly too spicy for our taste, but I'd still go back for another meal of them - especially the chicken. The beer was superb, and I'm not usually a beer drinker.

Went here for dinner with my wife. Food was fantastic, great atmosphere and brilliant service. We stayed in the bar area, as the restaurant had a strange table layout and was very cold, but otherwise great.

Always love a sneaky lunchtime beer accompanied by the best jalapeño poppers in town!

I recently visited Salt n Wood and had a truly exceptional experience. The restaurant has a unique and cozy atmosphere, with a warm and inviting interior that makes you feel right at home. But what really blew me away was the food. Every dish we ordered was expertly prepared and absolutely delicious. The focus on wood-fired cooking really shines through in the flavors, with dishes like the wood-roasted cauliflower and the smoked brisket being particular standouts. The service was also fantastic. Despite the restaurant being walk-in only and not taking bookings, we were greeted warmly and made to feel right at home. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and made great recommendations for both food and drinks. The only downside to our experience was the wait time. As Salt n Wood is walk-in only, there can be a bit of a wait for a table. However, the staff were upfront about the wait time and made sure we were comfortable while we waited. And in my opinion, the wait was well worth it for the amazing food and atmosphere. Overall, I would highly recommend Salt n Wood to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a cozy and unique setting. While there may be a bit of a wait, it's all part of the experience and I would give this restaurant a 5 out of 5 stars without hesitation.
