I'm torn on this one. The atmosphere is so lively and modern, and the staff are THE FRIENDLIEST people I have ever had wait on me. It was so cool to watch people surfing from a restaurant across the street. It was a wonderful experience, except that we both got the stuffed pig breakfast burger and hated it. The hot chocolate was great. The pastries and confectionaries, especially the boysenberry tart, were SO GOOD that I'm still wishing I could find something that compares elsewhere. I wish I'd bought every boysenberry tart they had. They're incredible. Just wish the actual breakfast had been better and less expensive.
Fast friendly service... was our first time here and we loved it.

Interesting Menus, A Delightful Surprise
I visited this restaurant on the beautiful Waipu Cove to chill out, and I must say, the tap beers were fascinating. It was a treat to taste my favourite local brewery beer, McLeods. (Note: I'm aware there is a pizza shop associated with the brewery. Unfortunately, when I visited on a Monday, the pizza shop was closed. However, if you have the chance to swing by, I highly recommend trying it.)
Back to the Cove, it was intriguing to see the chef infuse traditional Korean flavours such as Gochujang sauces and Kimchi into some dishes. We initially thought the chef might be Korean. Although we opted for Fish and Chips (a great pairing with beer), at the last moment, we added Korean-style beef tartar to our order. The introduction on the menu seemed quite genuine, and we couldn't resist our curiosity. End up, we were pleasantly surprised; the taste was almost as good as what we've had in Korea. (By the way, we are Koreans living in Aotearoa.)
The Fish and Chips were hot and crispy, just as good as they get, and the beer was fantastic too.
We asked if the chef was Korean, and surprisingly, they were not. What's even more interesting is that the chef has a good understanding of Korean food and how to create a harmonious blend. We can't wait for our next visit to try other items on the menu.
For those reading this lengthy review, all the other dishes looked appetising, and you can chill out while enjoying the beach view. I highly recommend soaking in the sea breeze with a fresh beer in hand.
Great meal here, better than I remembered, super fresh ingredients, all meals in our group were thumbs up, pretty good wine list and fantastic views

Menu could be a little smaller, as I reckon the kitchen might a difficult time with their prep.

Food was fantastic, I we the margarita pizza and Berry banana smoothie and coca cola for 47$, service was nice and beautiful views.
I was there on a public holiday weekend so it was a full house & a bit of a wait for my main meal. It was not a problem though, the meal was well worth the wait! The breakfast in the morning was also really good. If you are in the area this is the place for good quality food & drinks.👍
Came for dinner. Exceptional service from start to finish. The waiters were professional while maintaining such a relaxing vibe. It is best to make a booking before coming as this bat/restaurant was surprisingly busy considering how remote its location is.

I bought food and coffee at the Cove Cafe to get some energy to finish my very long walk. That burger and lemon pie saved me, and they were so good. Next time I go there, I will sit and enjoy them properly

One of the best cafe’s I’ve been to in a long, long time. I wish this place was next to my house. The service was impeccable, the food was incredible, the vibes, location and atmosphere were second to none. I had the berry mousse dessert that tasted like a calming wonderful version of mouth yoga. It was unlike any dessert I’ve ever had. You have got to try this place.
Take away coffee only today. Watched a really well run restaurant in operation. Attentive staff all knew what they were doing, superb looking plates of breakfast food on the tables, happy diners,and a great atmosphere. Add in the free parking and the beach just opposite, you can see why this place gets great reviews.
It required some road works and a detour to find this gem off the beaten track. In this cute, old road side cafe the friendly staff will spoil you with delicious and mouth watering meals. The view toward this beautiful beach is the icing on the cake.

Enjoyed a very nice dinner here. Staff are awesome , friendly and helpful. Meals are of high quality and well presented. Sticky pork belly was my favourite but had entree size as portions are genourous. Great drinks menu with lovely cocktails my favourite was gin one that I can't pronounce, began with Z.
Highly recommend and would go back again.
Can be pretty busy, so larger parties may want to book in advance. Good menu for brunch or lunch we found. Has high chairs for kids, but no play areas, just tabled areas. Some of the seating overlooks the beach.
Pricing for food is mid range I would say, and the coffee is excellent. Not much parking on the premise, but parking across the road at the beach area.
Very friendly stuff. Nice discussion with the barman - nice description of available beers on tab. Food delicious as well desserts. And get coffee at the end of the meal :). Sauce that comes with the lamb - it is like heaven on your taste buds.
