This has been a must do every time we visit Wanaka. Usually for one of our birthdays. It has always provided great cuisine and very consistent top level of service. Between the 4 of us we ordered a wide array of options on the menu and they were all very good. Great wines too.
Lovely food, great service. My downfalls would be the sourdough which we ordered as an entree. The meal came out cold even though it was toasted, tasting almost stale. However, it was soon forgotten when the rest of the dishes arrived. Ordered the pork belly entree which was divine, interesting mix of sweet and savoury. It did come out luke warm, meaning the main dish, the lamb, was hands down my favourite. The nuts and meat was a unique pairing along side the sweet flavours but I would recommend to anyone. My partner got the beef, which was also great. For dessert, we ordered the lemon meringue and crème brûlée. This was the best crème brûlée I have ever tasted, don’t pass it up! The lemon meringue unfortunately paled in comparison.
Lovely French restaurant on a hilltop. Probably our best meal in NZ.
Energetic noise level vs. the quiet candlelight affair I would have expected. Our group had fun dining here enjoying thoughtfully prepared food and good wine.
I didn’t pay the tab so I can’t comment on value but this is probably considered a fine dining experience in Wanaka.
There’s enclosed patio at the front of this restaurant. I’d try to get a seat in there next time, better views.
Service was very attentive. All 12 of us enjoyed everything we ordered so it’s hard to say what I’d recommend after only a single visit but there’s a goof chance you’ll find something good on the menu when you go. And you should go
What a place!.... everything about this place was amazing, could not fault it. Service was outstanding, with no waiting to be served drinks, and waitresses were always ready and available. The food was delicious and plentiful.
The bathrooms had single-rolled hand towels to wipe hands with.
And to top it off the view of the lake.
Could not fault this place at all.
Excellent food, atmosphere and team, would wholeheartedly recommend a visit
Fantastic dining experience here- excellent service and lovely ambiance in this unassuming French inspired eatery. The blankets and sheepskins on the chairs made the semi-upscale menu offerings feel approachable and created a cozy vibe. I LOVED the recommendations made by our warm server- I got the fillet tartare with miso mayo, as well as the grilled swordfish- wish was truly exceptional.
This is a fantastic experience for us. We have been living NZ five years and this is the best fine dining we experienced in several ones. The color, the flavors, the food quality, no anything we need to judge, just enjoy is the only thing we need to do. Can’t pass this place in Wanaka
I booked online and was called to be told that they were down three kitchen staff due to Covid and would we be ok coming later so we wouldn't have to wait. We were just happy that they were open and could take us. Service was attentive but understated, wine options were excellent, food presentation was tantalizing and flavours were divine. It was an all round wonderful evening. Great for a couple but equally good for a crowd.
Stunning venue, beautiful food, generous portions and excellent service. Beef Tartare was wonderful. If we're ever down here again we'll be back; well worth the trip. Thank you!
I can't fault BG in any way.
Service was awesome and friendly.
We sat in the patio area. What a view and atmosphere.
Food 🤤...... seriously the best beef cheek entree, 55day aged, bleu beef fillet, creme brulee, the best I have ever had.
My wife had the Monk fish with prawns that she says, was to die for.
So great, we rebooked for tomorrow.

Most romantic dinner experience in Wanaka for me so far. Relaxing ambience with an amazing view. Make a reservation for the earliest dinner time slot to get the best table like ours with an unblocked sunset and mountain view.
Food and wine is lovely and subtle. Recommend to have 1-2 glasses of wine with your meal if wine pairing is too much alcohol for you. Good service. An LGBT-friendly French restaurant with 1 Hat rating by Cusine Good Food Awards. Kinda like a 1 Michelin star in NZ restaurant world.
Will give 5-star if the food has more tasting profiles. Let's just say I have high expectations.
We were absolutely blown away by the food here. Just a few minutes from Wanaka, this restaurant feels like it’s tucked away from everything. The ambience is wonderful as is the service and the food. The venison with crispy kale, Parisienne gnocchi, marrow and smoked compote is the best dish we had on our entire trip through New Zealand.
Best fine dining in Wanaka!
If I could give this place 6 stars I would! Best meal I had during my visit to New Zealand. Everything was truly exceptional: the food, the wine, the cocktails, the views, the staff. You certainly pay for quality, but even then I wouldn’t say it was extortionately expensive.
Highly recommend the steak which was beautifully prepared.
My wife and I dined here as part of our time in Wānaka. The food and service were terrific. The pork belly entree was amazing. It was certainly a highlight of our time in New Zealand.
Exceptional food with a delightful view (my wife). The mountains were also pretty good. Couldn’t recommend more.
The Venison main was amazing.
