I was attracted with their building. Then I decided to visit the store since it was packed. They have variants of ice cream flavours and chocolates. They also servecakes and beverages. I decided to give the dark choc and macadamia ice cream a go and I didnt regret that since it successfully satisfied my tastebud. One scoop of ice cream in a cone will cost you for $6.5. A bit pricey but they will give you such a big portion. You wont regret it
Been to the Patagonia shop in Queenstown therefore had to go back here cause I was so impressed. Unfortunately the waffle cone of the ice cream just didn't make it for me, thats what makes or breaks it. However I got a chocolate sorbet and tasted just like chocolate! Staff were very friendly too
A beautiful place with a beautiful view! Got a wide range of chocolates and ice creams! Everything seems super yummy, some of the ice creams have won several awards as well! Coffee part was okay! Have a sweet tooth? Add it to your go to place..
We came here for ice cream. After taste testing the award winning flavours, clear front runner was the dulce de leche!!! Waffle cones here are also HUGE. Good feed!
We found out the hard way that it closes early everyday (5pm). We came by on the way back from Treble Cone to re energise. The chocolate lava cake was really nice and tasty, as was the chocolate ice cream.
Similar to what you get at Queenstown.
Continuing on with my quest to find ‘different’ hot chocolates during my trip to New Zealand, I visited Patagonia in Wanaka (after my failed attempt in Queenstown) to try their ginger hot chocolate. Feeling a little peckish after a walk along the lake edge and working up (what I thought was) an appetite, I ordered the ginger hot chocolate and a serve of churros. The problem was the churros. Or maybe it was the fact I had a sweet, chocolate drink and sweet (huge) churros. Or the dark chocolate sauce I ordered with the churros. Sugar and chocolate overload :)
I have a soft spot for Patagonia’s dark chocolate and macadamia ice cream and is one of my favourite flavours which you cannot get this flavour anywhere else except at Patagonia Chocolates in either of their Queenstown, Wanaka and Arrowtown. No other ice cream maker makes this flavour (that I have seen). The closest I have seen is maple walnuts. There are certainly other flavours which have also won awards for.
Patagonia Chocolates also offers a selection of made to order desserts, coffee and tea, and chocolates in which you can opt to eat in or take away.
Please check out my website for an indepth review.
Outstanding icecream! World class. We had the Award hazelnut cremino and the always fabulous cookies n cream. The cones were just as tasty as the ice creams.
Truly mouth watering desserts and great atmosphere. Delicious ice creams, and the chocolates make a perfect gift!
As I have got older, my appetite for sweet treats has lessened and while I had browsed Patagonia chocolates previously, nothing had enticed me enough to make a purchase.
However that all changed when Wanaka was blessed with a fabulous sunny day which changed my mind and there I appeared in Patagonia, seeking out an cold treat to complement the wonderful weather.
I have to praise the very friendly staff, who were very patient with my indecisiveness, giving me their personal recommendations in addition to letting me sample as many ice creams and sorbets as I desired.
With much deliberation I finally decided upon one scoop of the chocolate sorbet in one of their homemade waffle cones.
The deeply rich, tangy, ever so slight bitter flavours make this a favourite for the dark chocolate fans such as myself, the taste is comparable to a 85% piece of dark chocolate.
In my opinion this sorbet is totally superior to all chocolate ice cream. By cutting out the middle man of cream, sugar, the sweetness as this does, it results in a much deeper, purer chocolate flavour than any chocolate ice cream could ever hope for.
The tangy flavours are partly due to some fruity notes I detected, tart raspberries came to my mind in particular.
The homemade waffle cone brings a low level taste of sweetness that is just the right touch and the crisp crunch of the cone was perfect.
While I wouldn't change a thing about it, it is very rich so consuming in small quantities or with sweet fresh fruit such as raspberries would mellow the richness slightly.
Overall I would highly recommend coming here, the best establishment in wanaka to grab and enjoy some ice cream or sorbet by the beach for example.
One of the best gelato and waffle cone we have had! We picked their award-winning flavours: “Mascarpone cheese & fruits of the forest” and “Patagonia dark chocolate & macadamia”. Each gelato is well balanced and crafted with fresh ingredients. The level of sweetness of just right! Waffle cone has a rich buttery taste and crunchy texture. The overall portion is generous to be enjoyed by two. Definitely would return again!
Chocolates are very special and delicious but coffee. Guys! I tried espresso, latte, flat white but your coffee is super bitter...Ice cream also looks and taste youm.
Amazing hot chocolate but what cheered us up on this gloomy cold day in Wanaka was the smiling 🙂 faces of the two guys (Bangladeshi & Brazilian), they were very friendly and welcoming. Made us feel at ease and happy to be here 😃 thank you bros!
Bought chocolate mousse cheesecake & it was very sweet & did not taste like cheesecake. Quite disappointing.
Best icecream ever! We had raspberry sorbet and the absolute winner dark chocolate with macadamia nut, in a splendid cone. What a way to enjoy a beautiful day at Lake Wānaka!
Delicious ice cream shop. Pricey but you pay quality.
And their cone is so good.
You need to try this is a must go.
Too bad they are closing so early for summer.
Delicious ice creams, and cones! The chocolates and truffles were really good, and so were the orange and coconut muffins!
The staff is really pleasant and helpful.
Highly recommended!
Stopped by after driving from Arrowtown for a pick me up. Quite a selection of different sweet treats to try. Went with the churros with a Hot Chocolate. We ordered at the counter and were served the food at the table. Hot chocolate was nice but not very sweet. The churros were crispy and the chocolate dip was tasty.
They also had ice cream and chocolates to choose from.
Favourite place when visiting Wanaka. (They also have branches in Queenstown and Arrowtown.) Delectable ice cream flavours. Love their chocolate choices too. Staff are friendly and always have a smile on their faces. A must try! ❤️
Fine Quality ice cream worth the price.
Amazing service this morning, very attentive staff, and the most amazing chocolate & brownie! ☕️
