Beautiful Italian, been here several times over the past 10 years and have never once been disappointed. Delicious wood fired pizza and many pasta dishes to choose from. Highly recommended!!!
Really lovely evening here - felt well looked after, the food was delicious and well balanced (the mozz on the pizza was such a good quality too, it actually had FLAVOUR yay). We went in for the Fratelli feast which they do on Mondays and Tuesdays - 3 courses for $45 which is an absolute steal. Huge rate, would recommend for a date night or a cute friend catch up dinner.
Very good pizza, nice dough and ingredients, nice pasta and good portion. Beautiful wine, nice atmosphere
Recently dined here on a 3 course deal. Antipasto to start with delicious - the light, airy garlic pizza was a 10/10. Canneloni brisket main was delicious as was the gnochhi - lots of meat in both. Not a big dessert person so wasn't that excited with the panna cotta but the tiramisu was declared very tasty. ** the super happy, giggly waitress was a bit over the top.
The platter for two was so amazing, highly recommended for entree option. Would rate it at 5* if the flat bread could be more crispy a little bit.
I ordered Gnocchi for the main course and it was absolutely perfect👏🏼
Best Piccolo in town as well
If you can go for their set menu on Monday or Tuesday night, totally do! It's great value for money and the foods to choose from are totally delicious. I personally had the margherita pizza entree, mushroom and seared venison main, and gelato dessert. So damn tasty! The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. Will certainly go again!
Went to Fratelli's last night with four friends, we'd had drinks at Hummingbird and wanted a pleasant meal that offered more than pizza. We were well rewarded, the food was wonderful and the wine selection top-notch for not too much money. We started with an antipasti platter - recommended - and folllowed with a main course each.
I had the Gnocchi di Patate which was divine. We'll be back soon
Ok, real pun here - but a worthy contender for Italian restaurant of the year. The food was stunning, wine selection stunning and service authentic. The restaurant was buzzing with atmosphere and smell- great place to be on a cold Wellington night.
Really nicee meal and good service with work colleagues. Had a really delicious lamb special dish. Food is always good here with great menu selection. Very atmospheric. Cater really well for big or small groups.
Fratelli's staff were very friendly. I think the menu could be a little more varied and adventurous for ab Italian. I had a classic 4 cheese which I politely asked to have made with a tomato base. I think most pizzas need it! It was richly flavoured and well cooked.
Excellent service, food is simply gorgeous. Haven't been recently but I definitely should. I had an incredibly memorable time dining here years ago with work colleagues and I don't doubt what they offer is still to a high standard. Lovely fit out and atmos, dark and moody and warm. It's very inviting. It's very good. these guys know what they're doing.
On top of a great waitstaff, the wine and the pizza were amazing. The pasta was just alright for me, a little bland than I'd expected. Would love to go back for wine and pizza though.
Me and my boyfriend headed here on a Saturday night and only had to wait around 10 mins for a table. The staff were lovely and accommodating. Nice simple menu which helps when I'm so indecisive! Ordered the pesto pasta and was sadly disappointed. Although you can tell it was quality ingredients, it was far too salty and didn't have any other flavour - the pasta also too soft for my liking. However my boyfriend had the pizza and said it was the best he's had in Wellington! I'd go back but for the price would play it safe with the pizza :)
We dined here on the WOAP menu, not actually knowing they were participating in the culinary event. the two entree dishes had caught our eyes and opted for the WOAP menu.
We were very much impressed with the two entrees - Parpadelle with mushrooms and Duck confit rissotto. Both dishes packed intense umami flavours which I love and i was ready for my next course. unfortunately that is were it had ended.
Please check out my website for an indepth review
Came here last month for a friend's farewell. We were kind of near the kitchen which made it quite hot. I ordered the set menu which I thought was good. Starters I had garlic type of bread but more like a roti from what I can remember. It was really nice my friend on the other hand didn't like it and got sent back. For mains I had the chicken dish which was huge I couldn't even finish it. It was okay I just found that they used a bit to much flavor. Dessert was nice and simple ice cream with a shortbread. If you love intense Italian flavors I recommend this place. I don't think I'll be coming back anytime time soon though. Overall great customer service.
I've been to Fratelli's a number of times in the past. It was a regular place to go for a while. It’s been a couple of years since my last visit.
I went with my partner for dinner. We were really looking forward to it.
When we arrived we decided on set menu as it looked pretty good. $40pp.
We ordered a bubbles and a glass of house red. The house red wasn't available so I was offered the next alternative at the same price.
Both drinks hit the spot.
Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the pizza for start. Cheese, tomato and basil. It was a good sized pizza and very tasty. Clean basic flavours.
For main I ordered the venison ragu. Delicious. Deep rich flavours. My partner ordered the gnocchi with Italian sausage. Strong flavours. I had food envy and dived in a few times.
Desert was Tiramisu and the Sorbet. I felt the tiramisu would have been better without the chocolate on top but it was still enjoyable. The sorbet was refreshing and pleasant.
A big feed, we were satisfied and stuffed!
$100 all up. Very satisfied. Will return again soon.
We went here for dinner last night and I must say it was close to perfection. The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful, beautifully laid out and the decorations are nice to look at.
We were greeted and seated straight away by a lovely waitress, she took our drink order while we decided on what we wanted from the menu. We ordered the garlic and rosemary bread for starters. My partner had the gnocchi with Coppa while I had the vegetarian option.
All the food was amazing! It was so delicious, the garlic bread was perfect with big chunks of garlic and crispy bread. The gnocchi was to die for, perfectly made soft pillows with beautiful sauce.
The only reason this didn't get a 5/5 was my drink was spilled on me (was however quickly cleaned up and replaced) and a slight confusion with our bill where there was a bit of tension between the manager and our waitress.
Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants delicious Italian food and good service! Will be back next time I come to Wellington :)
"I think we should make a risotto." This was the comment made by my friend who was visiting from Timaru when I asked her what she wanted for dinner.
"No, no. When you're in Wellington, you need to eat out." Was my emphatic reply. So I had a quick search on Zomato for Italian cuisine and found Fratelli.
We stepped in and were very impressed with the decor. It looked classy and intimate. Our table was in the corner, with a comfortable looking sofa seat along the back wall.
We ordered:
- CAPRA AND PROSCIUTTO PIZZA
Garlic, Mushrooms, Thyme, Olives, Goat Cheese, Prosciutto, Balsamic & Mozzarella: this was delicious. The pizza base was thin, with a puffy crust with just the right amount of crunch. I loved the goat cheese flavour combined with the mushrooms, contrasting with the beautiful tangy taste of the balsamic vinegar. And prosciutto. Who doesn't love prosciutto?
- RISOTTO DI ZUCCA E CAPESANTE
Risotto of roasted Pumpkin, with Pine nuts, Raddichio, crispy Pancetta, seared Scallops & Basil Oil: this was probably the weakest dish of the night. The pumpkin provided a lovely sweet taste to the dish, but this went unbalanced and the dish needed something that was salty to anchor the flavours. I enjoyed the pine nuts as they gave the risotto some nice textures in each bite.
- GNOCCHI DI PATATE
Pan fried Potato Gnocchi with housemade Lamb & Red Pepper Sausage, Napoli salsa & baby Cavolo Nero finished with a Four Italian Cheese sauce: this was the favourite among the group tonight. While the gnocchi was different to what I have had in the past, I liked the texture of the gnocchi. The arugula provided a good peppery taste to each bite and it went well with the lamb sausage. The cheese sauce gave a bit of creaminess that wasn't overwhelming and also stopped the dish from becoming too dry, which I really liked.
Service was good - attentive, but not too in my face.
If you want good Italian in town - classy, but not overpriced, this is the place to go. Between three girls, we spent $27 each and were pretty full. If you're a bloke and like to eat more, I'd suggest some starters or sharing more than one dish per person as serving sizes of the pasta in particular are quite small. However, you are paying for quality and flavour, which I find much more important.
Beautiful Italian fine dinning restaurant. Food was top quality and so were the staff. For starters we had the arancini balls stuffed with mushrooms and chorizo, for main which was the highlight of the night was the fish of the day. It was pan fried snapper with pea and white truffle purée, green bean and roast Beetroot salad with balsamic vinegar, prawns, and olive tapenade. It was incredible. Dessert was white chocolate and rosemary pannacotta with a berry sauce, raspberry sorbet and honey comb.
My visit to Fratelli was quite pleasant. The food was fantastic & very fresh. I started my proper Italian meal with a classic Bellini cocktail. I enjoyed both my meal & cocktail immensely. I rate it 4.0 only because I found it rather expensive for the size of proportions of each of plates.
Tried Fratelli on Saturday night, very impressive. Everything was classy in an understated way from the atmosphere to the service & also the food. I went for the flat bread to start which was amazing, tried the tagliatelle as a main & was not disappointed. Very nice place, definitely will be back.
If you want an true authentic Italian experience, Fratelli's is the place to go.
I've been here numerous times and the food never fails to impress. Staff very friendly and willing to cater to needs. Must try the Tiramisu- best in NZ!
Great experience and great night!
This place is "BELLISIMO"! The food is crafted with care, attention and to an incredibly high standard.
If you love Italian food, this has to be the epitome of Italian food in Wellington City. To be really honest, I've eaten better meals here, than when I did in Italy. How they manage that, well, I only take my hat off to you and book my table in advance.
Service: It can be a little slow, but this is due in part to the absolute refined care and respect they show to each dish. If you're a fast food junkie, I would suggest you either a) eat a snack before hand, or b) stay at McDonald's.
Ambiance: A beautiful interior, demure lighting and the romantic glow of a table candle, it's relaxing, sophisticated without being poncy. A perfect place for an intimate dinner, or a catch-up with friends.
Food: My favorite review point. The food is definitely the highlight and crown jewel of this entire establishment. Fresh, seasonal and deep, rich flavor profiles.
The wood fired pizza's, are so unbelievably good. You can taste the freshness of the Mozarella, over a homemade sweet, and tangy tomato sauce. So much flavor in the base, I couldn't contain myself.
My favorites are the lamb risotto - creamy grains of aborio rice, portabello mushrooms, medium rare lamb medallions. It's creamy, earthy, rich, and every bite, you literally find yourself oohing and aahing as you discover a new flavor, or a deeper flavor. The gnocchi is insanely good. You can always judge how good an Italian place is by the standard of the gnocchi. I'm not going to say much on this, other than you owe yourself the experience!
Dessert.... Tiramasu of course! How can you go past an Italian restaurant with Tiramasu on the menu and NOT order it? Creamy, rich coffee flavors, fingers of biscuit that melt in your mouth between layers of sweet custardy goodness. The gelato is amazing too.
In short... I'm in love with Fratelli's.. you will be too!
Fratelli's motto is 'Fresh Italian', serving 100% homemade pasta, gnocchi, risotto, and pizza from the wood fired oven. My friends and I dined at Fratelli earlier this week, and had a very enjoyable experience.
We started with classic Italian cocktails: Peach Bellini, Negroni, and Prosecco, as well as Frangelico Sour and Long Island Iced Tea. These were thoughtfully made and well presented, and I especially enjoyed my Peach Bellini garnished with a cherry and Frangelico Sour with a sweet sugar rim.
As our entrees, we shared two Pizza Margherita's - pizza with tomato, basil & fresh bocconcini. I love pizza, and anything with fresh cheese delights me, so I thought the pizza was fantastic while my friends especially enjoyed the crunchy crust. It had a great texture and fresh flavour, with the authenticity that comes from woodfired pizzas.
My main was Tagliatelle al Ragu - tagliatelle pasta with braised lamb shoulder ragu & Parmigiano. Perfectly al dente pasta, well flavoured braised lamb shoulder ragu and Parmigiano cheese made this main fresh, tasty and delicious - I very much enjoyed the taste, texture & presentation. My partner chose the Gnocchi - pan fried potato gnocchi in a Napoli sauce with housemade Italian sausage, gorgonzola & baby cavolo nero (kale) finished with rocket & shaved Grana Padano.
We finished with dessert, most of us choosing Tiramisu - sponge fingers in espresso & marsala layered with mascarpone & chocolate. We all agreed it was an amazing tiramisu; for me it was the best I've ever had. Creamy, soft, and decadent, it made for a perfect and lovely dessert. A highly recommended choice.
I'd chosen Fratelli from my friend's recommendation, who had previously visited Fratelli on three occasions. For my first experience, I absolutely loved Fratelli. The customer service was friendly, courteous, attentive and prompt, and the food & drinks were all thoughtfully made - I noted that everything was well garnished and presented. I'd definitely recommend Fratelli for fresh, authentic and delicious Italian cuisine!

A long lazy Girls Night dinner at Fratelli with one of my Bestest Friends who lives out of town was just what the Doctor ordered!
We decided to wing it where we went and walked along the street looking for a place that caught our eye.
After ummming and arrrhhing over a couple of lack lustre looking places we found Fratelli.
It had a great feel about it even from the outside and it was buzzing on the inside and had a luxurious but cozy look about the place.
In we head and were told by the friendly front of house staff that there would just be a small wait for a table, which we were more than happy with as the Bar looked like a good place for us to start our night.
I have never sat in more comfortable bar stools, these were sensational thickset seats with decent backs on them made them feel very luxurious and where you would have even been happy to have dinner there.
Ordering Martini's from the bar was a great way to start our evening. Before long we were ushered to our table and waited on by very friendly and helpful wait staff.
They were patient and polite when we had to ask what certain Italian things were on the menu and explained them with ease encouraging us to try something different.
We had a great spot in the Restaurant as we were facing the Kitchen which was a hive of activity and fascinating to watch.
I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered something I had never tried before which was the Gnocchi. My goodness, I was so glad I did as the taste & flavours were absolutely devine!
I didn't want my meal to end it was so good.
My friends dinner was also so sensational that she took pictures of it to send to her husband to make him a bit jealous about how amazing it was.
Our drink at the bar, dinner, the fabulous atmosphere and each staff member providing an exceptional service made for a truly fantastic night.
So much so we were one of the last to leave and head on for our night of dancing.
We will absolutely be back.
Thanks so much Fratelli x
This is the best Italian we have eaten at, great service and the Chianti was delicsious
Very welcoming and so easy to book on line.
We had the Rissotto and Tiramisu both 10/10. Warm olives and flat bread were awesome.
We have now been four times, thank you guys. Our Niece was with us last time and she commented
that you cant get this standard in London! See you soon.
Jenny and Pete
Came here for a birthday dinner. Was impressed with the pizza oven! Atmosphere a little sterile. Risotto was stunning, and my partner's pizza was nice too. All in all, not bad!
Had one of the best dinners I have ever experienced over the weekend at Fratelli Italian Restaurant in Blair Street. The taste & flavours of both our our meals were absolutely divine!! :-)
I had the Pan fried Potato Gnocchi in a Walnut & Gorgonzola sauce with braised Beef Cheek, Gorgonzola & Spinach finished with Rocket & shaved Grana Padano & Coppa - Had never had Gnocchi before and it was exceptional.
My friend had the Risotto di Cervo of Porcini & field Mushroom, Spinach & Pecorino with seared Venison, crispy Wild Mushrooms & Vin cotto - and she raved about it so much and sent picture to her husband to make him feel like he was missing out on all that deliciousness!
We didn't book, we were just walking along the street and noticed them, had to wait between just 5-10 mins for a table at their very cool bar and super comfy bar stools and had a Cosmo while we waited.
Great buzzy atmosphere & each staff member we encountered provided exceptional service.
We will definitely be going back and I can't recommend it highly enough :-)
We did dinner here using a voucher with our 5 year old.
Firstly excellent communication via email to make the booking. We were very promptly attended to on our arrival.
The shared anti pasta was generous in size and very good. We both had the pork belly which was also good [although the skin was not really eatable]
For dessert we had the trio of ice cream and the tiramasu both also very good
Service from the waiter was attention and professional. The place was busy but we never had to wait.
All in all we had a good evening including our 5 year old [window tabled helped !]
Bottom line we would happily return. Highly recommended
Dined here a couple of years ago and enjoyed the experience, so decided to book for five visiting work colleagues last night. Everyone commented at what a fabulous meal we had. We all had different things off the menu and each and every dish was thoroughly enjoyed. Attentive service, delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Thank you, we'll be back!!!
Stumbled across Fratelli this past Friday night, and could not be happier with our experience there. Food, service and ambience all contributed to an exceptional dining experience. We started with the Calamari which I must say is the best I have ever tried (and I've eaten a lot of Calamari!). The sauce it came with was the perfect accompaniment and the squid itself was cooked perfectly. I then had the Gnocchi while hubby had the fish. Once again, these were fantastic. The Gnocchi is hand made in house and was heavenly- the combination of flavours in this dish were just so well balanced, kudos to the chefs! Hubby raved about his fish too and probably would have licked his plate clean if it were socially acceptable haha. The friendly waitress provided us with wine matches which showed she had been trained well in this respect.
We finished off with Panna Cotta and the house-made Gelato, both were fantastic. All in all one of the best meals we've had in Wellington, definitely the best Italian. Thank you Fratelli team!
We have been waiting to try this restaurant in such a long time after hearing such positive feedback from friends we decided to try it last week.
Outstanding service and divine fresh Italian food, what more can I say?
Thank you, for making our 'date night' extra special and definitely memorable.
We can't wait to dine again at Fratelli's.
My husband took me out for dinner to Fratelli the other night to celebrate our anniversary - and a night away from the children. He could not have picked a better restaurant. Service was fantastic. We were very impressed from the moment we walked in. From our water constantly being topped up to the waiters extensive knowledge of the different wines both NZ and Italian. The food was delicious. We started with the calamari and the flat bread. Wow- what a start to a fantastic meal. I had the gnocchi and my husband had the meatballs. I tried his meal and the homemade pasta was perfect and the meatballs delicious. 10/10 for the gnocchi. We finished with the best tiramasu I have ever had.
Great value, great portions, great service, great atmosphere. We will certainly be going back .
For the last few years I have been a regular diner at Fratelli. I last dined there on Monday night and had the fish special which was delicious. No matter how busy they are they are always helpful and friendly - Ferdi and Carlo who own the place are always out to ensure the food is great and the atmosphere buzzy, and are key to the success of this restaurant. Food is always fabulous and fresh, the best gnocchi in town, good size portions, and great staff, and that is simply why we keep going back. My only real issue is so many people have discovered how fabulous this restaurant is and it is getting very popular!
I have been to Fratelli over five times now, and every time, without fail, am always impressed with the flawless service, great winelist, and delicious food. I love the fact the restaurant is family owned and run, seeing the same faces everytime we go back adds to the experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Wow, we went to Fratelli last night for the first time and can't speak highly enough about the food, service and atmosphere. Service was brilliant by all the staff. Two of us had steak (which was delicious and perfectly cooked) and the other two had the groper which was also outstanding. The salted caramel ice cream was to die for, not to mention the limoncello which was beautiful! Thanks for a fantastic meal and memorable experience, we will be telling all our friends and will definitely be back.
I decided to take the family out for dinner last Thursday so we went to fratelli on the advice of a friend. It was busy when we arrived but all the staff had a smile and certainly made us feel welcome.
We ordered a bread and a pizza to share as an entree and it was so amazing we had another bread. For mains my wife had the risotto that she said was great (but ate it all before I could try it) and I had the sirloin that was cooked perfectly and came with a mushroom crepe thing. The kids both had the meatballs with pasta and finished the lot. We shared the gelato to finish the evening and wow the salted caramel.
We would like to thank the guys at Fratelli for making our night out something special, we will be back soon.
Yum! We had a great family dinner at Fratelli last night for my little brother's Graduation. First time there for me and I can honestly say It won't be the last!!
The place was humming with a great atmosphere, full but not too noisy, really nice friendly staff who were coping amazing well with the packed restaurant ensuring our service was friendly and timed really well.
Food was some of the tastiest I've eaten in a restaurant in a long time, really good Sweet corn & Crayfish Risotto and fantastic homemade Boar Sausage. The other meals on the table (Tagliatelle pasta with lamb Meatballs, Fish of the day and a goats cheese & Prosciutto pizza) also looked amazing and had rave reviews from the others.
The Basil Panna Cotta, Tiramisu & Gelato were also outstanding.
the best thing was the really amazing standard of service and quality of food you receive here without having to fork out a small fortune, great value for money and we need more restaurants like this
Last night (Saturday 16 March 2013) we decided to find a new place to go for a pizza in Wellington having been to Pizza Napoli several times but wanting somewhere new. Picked Fratelli partly because they had more good reviews than bad on this site and because of the way they'd handled the bad review!
We were not disappointed. On arrival we were told they were full but we could take a seat at the bar which we did. Expecting a delay of around 30-45 minutes we were suddenly shown to a table about 10 minutes later as the front desk had rearranged things.
Food was brilliant, service, brilliant, cost - good value for money. Atmosphere lovely. Not as frenetic as some places can be so we were able to have just a lovely couple of pizzas, a bottle of red and a great evening. We will be back. Can't wait.
My boyfriend and I dined here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and had the Fratelli Feast- we absolutely loved it! The margherita pizza was the best I've ever had. My gnocci was out of this world and my boyfriend had the veal risotto and enjoyed it so much. Love how authentic the food is, I've been to Italy and this dining experience definitely took me back. The staff are incredible - very attentive without being intrusive. It's also great to see the owner on the floor, talking with customers and serving. I can't wait to go back!
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the Fratelli feast we had last night. My risotto was beautifully prepared, and the tiramisu was the best I’ve tasted.
The staff were friendly and efficient, and the restaurant is warm and cosy without the tables being too close together. I highly recommend Fratelli, and will definitely be returning!
We had the Fratelli Feast and a bottle of lovely Italian wine and really enjoyed our dinner! It had been a while since I'd had proper Italian food and it was spot on! We had the rosemary garlic bread as a starter, gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce as a main and tiramisu for dessert. Def recommend this place!
Very impressed with the service and food! Dined at Fratellis last night with a table of 7 and the waitress was very professional and friendly. Loved the Tuesday night Fratelli Feast, such a deal. Will be back again :)
Loved this place! Great atmosphere, friendly service and the food is to die for! I can highly recommend the Bistecca di Fratelli
Wood fire roasted Sirloin of Beef on a baked Mushroom, Prosciutto & Potato Cake with a salad of Manuka smoked Beef, Basil roasted Tomato & Garlic !! Both my husband & I had this, and just didn't want to finish eating it!! Visited Fratelli's after reading the reviews, and certainly wasn't disappointed! Will be back again on our next visit to Welligton
Fratelli celebrates good food. I found the atmosphere somehow lacking, despite the streets outside buzzing with rugby fans. But the service was charming and the food truly lovely. I had the fish of the day (snapper, pan-fried and melt in the mouth) and an asparagus and scallop starter - which was cooked to perfection. The only down note was a side of brocolli. It wasn't bad, but the sliced almond topping seemed to have come from pre-chopped from a supermarket bargain pack - they were soft and tasteless.
We were really impressed with Fratelli.
Arrived without a booking last Saturday night and the place was humming. Our group of four women were immediately made to feel welcome. My friends went for the fish of the day and loved it. I had the mushroom risotto which was DIVINE and I was the envy of my friends. Don't you just love it when you pick the dish that everyone wishes they had ordered, after it arrives looking, smelling and tasting so good?
The place looked and felt great; service was fantastic; staff were friendly; wine & water were replenished promptly; and meals were served in good time. Fratelli gets a 'Highly recommended' from me!
Delicious! True authentic Italian food, friendly staff, cool little restaurant and 2 great managers who always seem to be there but I'm too shy to ask if they are the brothers that own it but my guess is that they are. Great value for money too.
I had heard that Fratelli had a new chef, and that I wouldn't be disappointed.
A great recommendation - a great Italian restaurant.
Such a fantastic place to go for dinner, I really can not rave Fratelli enough.
The service was attentive without being intrusive, the food was delicious and the prices very reasonable.
The flat bread with roasted garlic, rosemary and sea salt is the best entree I have had in my life, no lie.
Great food, nice surroundings - waitress struggled with who was where, and had ordered what; but a minor detraction really. Been here before and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Food was very nice and very reasonably priced. Portions were just the right size for three courses. Excellent wait staff, very friendly and attentive. Fairly small menu but good variety of dishes. Only criticism is they did not have a high chair for our one year old daughter.
Food was great - portions not huge, but great food. Waitress not too sharp, but maitre de made up for it!
Everything we had was absolutely superb!
This place has got to be of the best places to go for Italian food. Downside you cannot book a table for less than 6 people. Great ambience and good quality although mains could be a big bigger in portion size.
The gnocchi is to die for - best I have tasted outside Italy - superb as was the pizza.
Fratelli is what Italian dining is all about: good food, great service, and an extensive wine list including a wide range of both Italian and New Zealand wines. We had an early dinner on Saturday night before a show. The service was fantastic; friendly, accommodating (our water glasses were constantly refilled) and our meals were served in good time. Meal portions are a good size and our bread, straight from the wood-fired oven, was bellissimo. The decor is both modern and cosy, with little touches all Italian memorabilia in the restaurant and bar as well as fresh flowers in the toilets. Fratelli is inviting for either an intimate meal for two or larger groups. Cin cin!
Good italian food can be a little hard to find in New Zealand. A lo of this comes down to the fact that italian food is simple yet elegant and designed to show off the ingredients put into it. Where italians tend to cook with what is in season, and therefore freshest and tastiest, many chefs in NZ use hot house vege or even worse, frozen... '
Thank goodness then for Fratelli, its food was the best of what was seasonal and as such everything tasted great! Rounding off some superbly cooked food was a great winelist (they have some amazing reds) and great service (the staff knew the menu back to front and had their wine matches down perfect)...
If you;re yearning for a good bit of Italian posh nosh, Fratelli is definitely worthwhile trying!
My husband and I had dinner at Fratelli last night and had a lovely time. The food, ambience and service was wonderful. The owner sat us and had a very nice conversation with us. The staff were all in good spirits and the food (we ordered off the regular menu) and wine were delicious. The restaurant was lively on a Monday night so you know it's good. So happy we found this place!
Friday night , busy, but they were happy to seat me as it was early.. service was awesome , I let the lovely person serving me, choose a pinot noir and had fish of the day with a side pomegranate salad ..salad wasn't really needed as my main was amazing.. ate the salad anyway as it was too nice not to!!
Generous portions, beautifully presented and so tasty!!
Had the 3 course menu for $55 on a Tuesday for my BD. Margherita pizza was delish. Main was risotto which was delicious as well. Dessert was Tiramisu. I was good, would have been even better with a bit more rum/alcohol but it came with a candle as a surprise. Sooo... 🥰
Big fancy nice restaurant.
Service was good and servers were friendly.
Food price is pretty high, but delicious.
Recommend this place for special party and dinner :)
This is the best italian restaurant I've been in NZ. Food is just perfect, good service in a nice place. Strongly recommended.
Ferdi and the team made my birthday dinner very special. The service and food was amazing. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant and it’s great staff.
Yummy dinner here! Everything flawless. Highly recommend the Risotto and definitely go for the pancetta on the gnocchi. Great service, very informed and attentive. If you are afraid of anchovies, don't be, they are deelish on the bruschetta. We booked for the Panna cotta but new fave is the Risotto!
We happened to book at the last moment and we're lucky to get in. I had the pizza Bianco and my wife had the gnocchi Di patate. We don't normally do reviews. Easily this is 2 of the best dishes we have ever eaten. Thank you so much for fantastic food. I'm going to have to try the Tiramisu.
Thanks again David and Jo.
Outstanding Italian restaurant, omg the food is amazing , from their beautiful pizzas, to the mushroom venison risotto I had, it was honestly the best I'd ever had. Service professional, friendly and discreet. The place was buzzing on a dark rain soaked , freezing night in August, on a Tuesday ! Say no more ....!
Excellent service and food and a great atmosphere.
Well situated and good car parking available nearby.
Dined twice in the week for dinner and excellent both times.
Emi the waitress and the owner were fantastic.
We look forward to returning for another great dining experience.
Kind Regards Mike and Fran
What a great night we had yesterday at your restaurant!
Certainly knowledgeable about Italian food and wine, your staff was both fun and kind to all of us.
The "Quattro Formaggi" pizza was a rare gem and your bruschettas were intriguing. I'm so glad we also ordered the Calamari and squid ink spaghetti with shellfish.
Everything was fresh, brilliantly seasoned, and perfectly cooked.
We'll be back!!
Oh, I still have in my head the notes of those lovely songs from the 40s and 50s that you were playing in the background!!
It's amazing. We have been now 5 times. Every time, the service, food and atmosphere is amazing. Cannot fault it. Highly recommend the gnocchi.
Dined as a group of 4 on a Monday recently. Took advantage of the $55pp 3 course special. So much food, we were all full by the end. I at the marg pizza/focaccia, ragu pasta, and tiramisu.
The place was humming. So good to see a place so busy and buzzing on a Monday night!
Would recommend.
Super cool! Came here on a date, and it was very lovely. Staff were wonderful and accommodating with our requests. Great atmosphere. Bloody awesome food too. I have no doubt that I will be coming back here in the future!
Outstanding service and food! Big group booking and they couldn’t have done more to help us.
Set menu food was divine and plenty of it!
Highly recommend.
Simply delicious. We had the antipasto platter, a pizza, and dessert. We could not fault a thing. We went in with high hopes as we were looking for a delicious meal for my wife's birthday. Even with high hopes, not only were we not disappointed, but a new level has been set for our expectations of Italian food.
Great service and lively atmosphere.
Visited for the first time tonight and we will definitely be back! Food was delicious! Service and atmosphere were on point! Thanks for an awesome culinary experience!
Menu ticks all the boxes. The food was presented well and good flavors. Wine list includes both Italian and New Zealand wines. Reasonably priced cocktails. I have been here with a large group including children, and had a great experience then, as well.
Absolutely divine! The best Italian food I have ever eaten! The panna cotta desert was perfect! Our waitress was also very good and had great advice for wine pairings. She also had good knowledge of the menu.
