Busy cafe in the heart of Te Aro and it's easy to see why. Staff were quick to seat us, despite the interior being at near capacity. The menu offers many delectable, yet healthy options. I was a bit reluctant to order a salad, fearing it may not be filling without some extras, but had nothing to worry about. It was more than enough to satisfy. My pal also enjoyed her salmon dish.

I come here often enough that I don’t think to comment. I should. It is good... although it can be intensely busy and so you need to be phlegmatic on occasions. It is a favoured place for breakfast. Last week, an evening meal with friends returning to the UK. Amongst the pleasures for those at the table were a squid starter that managed a soft bite and great counterpoint salad,, grilled asparagus and borlotti beans, walnut, apple and chickpea pancakes, slow cooked lamb, unnecessary but excellent deserts. We messed the staff around by being late and stayed longer than we should. There wasn’t a moment’s impatience from the staff, whatever their private frustrations. Our Liverpudlian waiter was thoughtful and friendly and humorously underlined the adage that you can take the man out of the place but not the place out of the man.

HAVEN’T BEEN DISAPPOINTED by any Italian restaurants in Welly so far. The dinner tonight was definitely beyond what I had been looking for. For restaurants, it might be a little bit expensive, but for a standard Italian restaurant, it’s worthwhile

Outstanding! I guess that's why it was so busy! The coffee was good, served speedily and competently. The food was great. All of it. Rich orange egg yolks and smooth hollandaise. And they know tea too! But topping things off came the countertop baked goods. The raspberry lamington was amazing. Honestly, if you see it, don't hesitate. Indulge. You won't regret it. Yum yum yum.

My partner and I had cakes from the counter -the espresso/coffee mascarpone one was amazing and the quince and almond tart was beautiful too. Comes on pretty vintage plates that fits perfectly the sort of vintage/industrial decor. I also had a lemon honey and ginger hot drink that looked really pretty in ombré shades with a big amount of amber coloured honey at the bottom.

This cold weather is making me crave Floriditas.  I ate lunch there last week and had the chicken thighs with green beans and the prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella appetizer.  I enjoyed the homey and comforting food along with fine service.

Delicious, I had the smoked mackerel & potato hash. Faultless. Gluten free bread is delicious. Rest of the fam enjoyed their meals, if you like crispy bacon thou be sure to ask for this as it was a bit under for hubbies liking. Great menu selection and the food was so good, I think we’ll be returning tomorrow!

Excellent food, excellent service, nice ambiance! I highly recommend sharing the cheese plate with a wine from their fine wine list. The polenta chips are incredible and I love their eggs benedict/florentine for brunch. On cold days, I crave their soup specials and the warm reception from their very friendly staff.

One of my favourite places for breakfast in Wellington. Great service, great selection of food including freshly squeezed juices and fantastic ambience.

This time we stuck to the basics, freshly squeezed orange juice, flat whites, poached eggs - one with bacon and one with house hot smoked salmon.

I ordered earl grey for my drinks and a poached egg&avocado on toast. Their free-ranged eggs are so good and they were perfectly matched up with the toasts. Really enjoyable.

Possibly one of the best cafes in Wellington, fantastic service and also a bonus not to bump into any hipster bearded types, but then thankfully this place isn't edgy or grungy enough, which makes it perfect for everyone else. Great coffee and eggs, and amazing crispy capers :-) With a meritable menu, a relaxed retro art deco type vibe, and a definite high quality feel make this a great stop for any other unqualified amateur diners....

We were looking for something nice to have dinner and spontaneously ended up at Floriditas. First we thought its more a café than a proper restaurant but we gave it a try and didn't get disappointed.
Service was fantastic and on the spot from the first second on, friendly, attentive and helpful.
We we had the slow cooked lamp shoulder with brussels sprouts and yams as a side. Flavours were just delicious and went very well together.
The chocolate fondant and shortbread with whiskey for dessert made it the perfect stay for us.
It was a great experience with outstanding service and delicious food, definitely recommend!

This meal as all the meals our table ordered was not only beautifully presented but also cooked to perfection and beautiful balance of flavours. Home of the famous eggs eggs eggs! Been coming here for years and the food never fails. I highly recommend them poached or scrambled. The smoked fish dish is also really tasty as are the scons on the countertop, bombolini or the ginger and caramel cake. Very indulgent. The last trip I made, I got the whipped feta with ricotta, avocado and pickled radish. A nice twist on this could be adding chilli flakes, a squeeze of lemon and maybe some fresh herbs whipped through but still very tasty.

This is one of the establishments in welly so my expectations were high. The place was really busy but luckily we were seated quickly. The service was efficient but lack of friendliness. The lady serving us didn't seem to be very interested in servicing us and tried to rush away even I still want to order some sides. The coffee was not hot enough for my liking and the food was on the OK side. If you like eggs you will find many choices.

Wellington is just a foodie heaven! No doubts about it...

Since there're so many positive feedbacks about this place, I feel like I'm obligated to give this place a go.

I arrived early on a Sunday morning and already people sitting there. Coffee already brewing and music playing ,all staffs looks energetic. I ordered my coffee as soon as I sat down and my coffee arrived no long after.

I ordered the scramble eggs with smoked salmon. WOW!! If you think what? scramble eggs?? I can make that at home! well that you're wrong! Best scramble egg I had from a cafe!! It's presentation is Amazing and so does the taste! It's perfectly cooked, nice and soft. Love the yellowy organic colour of the eggs!

While I was sitting there, freshly baked goodies just keep being put up....OMG they all look so devine!!

It was date night for my wife and I. We decided to go to Floriditas for a light meal. Turns out, the menu was so appetising we ordered mains and dessert. The food was so we could had more. I had the scallop pasta with asparagus and bisque. It was delicious and full of flavour. Wife had clam pasta, which to be honest, was overwhelmed with parsley. The pavlova for dessert was a great finish. Really good pav, probably best I've had. The pistachios added great crunch and flavour. Definitely recommended.

I finally gave Floriditas a try and it was pretty good experience.

Went for a Sunday brunch, and wasn't surprised to see a fully packed restaurant but still managed to find a table right away

Service was alright, I could tell they were a bit overwhelmed but they still managed to serve well.
Ordered a mackerel potato & dill hash with poached egg. Egg was cooked to its perfection, fish and potato was tasty and salted pretty well.
Enjoyed a cup of cappuccino which I found quite small in terms of portion, but other than that, it was a good one!
Got a chocolate mascarpone to go. It was a hard choice because they got heaps of mouthwatering dessert but nonetheless it was a great one.

In sum
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 4/5

Had brunch here with my family on a busy Sunday morning. Everyone found something they liked from the impressive menu of egg dishes. I ordered the banana bread to try something different. The parts that soaked up the strawberry syrup were the best but it made other parts of the bread seem dry. Very friendly staff and it isn't too noisy, even when nearly full.

It was a farewell dinner. My friend and I had order cheese stick for entree. The cheese stick was slightly overdone inside. Our main were lamb skewer with Salad, and sirloin steak with asparagus. Both main dishes were really tasty. The Chef made the sirloin steak perfectly tender. Waitress was very friendly and she matched my dish with a glass of Peregrine Pinot Rose (Central Otago). It was the right choice for the steak.

I went here on Friday morning for breakfast with my father and partner, and got Asparagus and poached eggs on toast. The marshmallow that came with my coffee were wonderful and filled me with nostalgia. The grilled asparagus was perfect and the hollandaise was buttery and complementary.

Our waitress was fantastic as well. All round a great little spot I would recommend.

Floriditas looks inviting in its corner position on Cuba Street - we dined on a Tuesday night and loved the decor especially the white tiles. The restaurant had a steady flow of customers and is obviously popular.

The food was fresh, tasty and nicely presented. The menu simple with something for everyone.  I asked for my steak to be pan fried as I'm not a fan of char-grilled which they accommodated with no question.

The staff and service with lovely and I look forward to dining again when next in Wellington.

On a recent visit to Wellington, I brunched at Floriditas. It had been a while since I had dined there and I had epic memories of my experiences. This time, it wasn't quite the same as my memories but it was still pretty good!

The scrambled eggs and salmon, potato cakes and fish pie all hit the table at once, all well presented and looking delicious. The eggs were smooth, a gorgeous colour and texture, and well seasoned. However, the salmon was a little dry and the ciabatta was extremely crispy. The fish pie was rich, flavourful and filled with generous chunks of fish. The little salad to the side added some freshness and greenery. I wouldn't hesitate to order this again! The potato cakes were well received and something different.

Like I remember, the service was excellent. Our water was always topped up, the servers were friendly and they were always around to help. It was a nice treat to be back at Flo's and the OJ hit the spot on that Sunday morning!

I had heard good things about this place, only positive reviews so my expectations were high. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the food. Went for the poached eggs & bacon which were both good, but the bread was almost rock hard & very difficult to get through. The coffee was fine, and the service couldn't be faulted, but the food wasn't quite as amazing as I had hoped.

It's been a while since I have been to Floriditas so it was nice to see it was still a pleasant spot for breakfast. The scrambled egg on ciabata was rich and filling. The decor has started to become a bit dog eared with age, but somehow that adds to the charm.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Stylish, classy and oozing old world sophistication, this Cuba St institution is one of the reasons why I love coming to Wellington! The dark textured wall is sumptuous and contrasts well with the other walls in white. The menu isn't big but has a strong lineup of classics.

FOOD: Today I ate the scrambled eggs on ciabatta and served with hot salmon. The eggs were cooked to perfection and looked elegant on the plate. The salmon was tasty and the ciabatta delicious but a tad chewy.

COFFEE: no complaints here. Strong and rich in flavour.

With attentive, fast service, I totally recommend this cafe for all visitors to Welly!

Apparently eggs are a big deal here. The menu is small but packs a punch. I had poached eggs with ham off the bone. The eggs were absolutely perfect. They were well formed and the right amount of runny. I was a little disappointed by the ham. While I was expecting it to be leaner than bacon, I prefer my ham to be a bit thicker and with a little bit more fat. However, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was refreshing.

A slightly odd contrast exists between Floridita's and its surrounding area. Once the trades end of town, in contrast to the north "by appointment" end of Lambton quay, Cuba street retains much of its history and today is packed with cheapo eat it and beat its, as well as more upmarket restaurants - Logan Browns and Floridita's. The glass fronted interior of Floridita's looks like something out of vienna (sort of). High ceilings, bold wallpaper, white tiles and a feeling of establishment. Although it opened maybe a decade ago, it feels as if it has been there for a lifetime and could probably go another. It is clearly the product of the Clark's genius for the popular taste (that isn't a criticism).

For the umpteenth time we went to Floridita's today - for an early lunch. It was quite beautiful with the winter sun streaming through the northern windows, and the warm ambience contrasting to the sharply deteriorating temperatures outside.

The high ceilings create a gabble of noise - not too much, but even with a quarter full restaurant you find yourself raising your voice. The staff were lovely - carefully making sure our table was clean and explaining the menu.

We ordered two proseccos, two trim caps, the fish pie and the haloumi and Nashi pear salad with flatbread.

The coffee was excellent. Very good texture, and although the coffee wasn't fascinating, it was gentle, devoid of extremes and certainly without problems.
The prosecco was also good, lots of nice citrusy notes and the perfect companion to the sunlight falling into the table. Reasonable wine list - caters to those who want a glass or a bottle on the cheapish end all the way to those who are trying to impress (groan).

The fish pie was a creamy confection of fish and leek - smooth, perfectly seasoned and topped with contrasting toasted crumbs - comfort food. The accompanying watercress salad was nicely dressed albeit begging for the mearest hint of sharpness.
The grilled haloumi came with Nashi pear and celery leaves and I thought was an inspired (greater than the sum of its parts) combination - it was brilliant. The grilled flatbread was redundant but helped cover the plate.
The presence of nice sea salt and pepper on the tables clearly gave the impression that this was a restaurant for enjoying food rather than food fascism - and I think that summarises the Clark philosophy. I may have walked out once when I thought the cook was being overly precious but I've always come back with continued enjoyment.
Highly recommended for no fuss, simple, good food.

Went to Floriditas for grad dinner last night - the service was amazing! Not sure if it's because my friend and I were orphans for graduation due to the storm but the staff were warm and friendly, suggesting a bottle of bubbles for our triumph and sorrow! When it came to ordering we got the fig and mint salad to share. I've never had fresh fig before so I couldn't tell you if it tasted correct, but it did taste good! The mint was at times overpowering but that could just be my distaste for leafy garnishes. The fig and mint worked well with the cucumber though and I would probably order this again!

For my main I had the chicken, which was succulent and tasty, but I wish I had ordered the duck instead. The chicken was good but nothing to write home about. The duck was amazing though and just fell off the bone! My other friend had snapper which tasted great (which is big for someone who doesn't really care for fish) and our Pinot Grigio complemented each dish nicely (well, as much as a white can complement a red meat).

For dessert we shared the panna cotta and this went down a treat, although we wished we had ordered this individually since it's quite small! And the cream that came with it was nice but didn't really add to the dish! The crunch at the top was sweet and seemed to melt in my mouth which I quite enjoyed!

The only thing I would change from the night is what is mentioned above and also the size of the dish in comparison to the price paid! It certainly wasn't cheap but we were there to spoil ourselves so no biggie!

Had a lovely lunch there. Portions were on the smaller side but we still left full. Good modern menu - lovely nashi salad came with my haloumi & flatbread. Husband's beef brisket was small but delicious and still quite filling. Coffee was good but I would go there for the food rather than the coffee. Thoughtful waitress who immediately picked up my baby son's spoon and went to wash it under hot water.

Good at what they do. While their menu is quite simple - ie. mostly just variations of eggs on toast, they do it quite well. If you are wanting a decent reliable eggs benedict and coffee then this is where to go. Not somewhere to go if you are wanting something exciting and different though. Friendly and helpful staff and a nice environment to sit in for young people or families.

As date nights are tricky my wife and I took advantage of a quiet weekday for "date morning". Floriditas is a firm favourite so was the first choice. The morning was a bit chilly but the sun streaming in the big windows and heaters made the restaurant very warm and inviting.
Eggs at Floriditas are legendary so I opted for poached eggs with ham off the bone and hollandaise - perfectly cooked and top quality eggs with vibrant (almost day glow!) orange yolks. Just as well known for scones my wife had a cheese/herb scone followed by a half portion of porridge - both delicious. Coffee was hot and a great strength, water glasses topped up efficiently without asking. Almost forgot - the sweet treats on the counter are almost impossible to resist so I didn't! Tough choice but settled on a decadent doughnut.
A great date morning!

I've been living in Wellington for just over two years now, and quite by accident ended up at Floradita's for brunch in January of this year ... and now I'm left wondering WHAT took me so long to get meself in there?!   It immediately became my absolute favourite, "go to", NOWHERE-else-will-do, weekend breakfast spot, and I think this is the start of quite a beautiful romance between us (me and Floradita's, that is) ... I've subsequently been back several times with friends for breakfast (Prosecco at 9am in the morning?   Oh GO on then ...), for a sneaky coffee and a macaron at 11am; and I marched myself in there for a late lunch over Sevens weekend when I desperately needed half an hour some place civilised and costume-free.   A plate of smoked mackerel and potato hash and EVERYTHING seems right with the world again.   The food is unfailingly fantastic, the coffee's great - and (without exception) the girls both behind the counter and running the service are just delicious (er, not for brunch ... I mean they're LOVELY).   Always smiling.   Nothing's too much trouble.  Floradita's : please don't change a thing.  I really think this might be true love.

I normally travel throughout NZ by myself on business but Labour Weekend 2014 I had the pleasure of my family joining me in Wellington. Let me be perfectly clear here....Floriditas is sensational. Sensational decor, sensational service, sensational food. Even the marshmellows for the hot chocolates are made by themselves. Attention to detail on every dish has sees them offer the highest quality food. They also sell their own spreads and have their own cookbook. The staff were friendly and willing to go the extra mile - a testament to what must be great management. If I were to recommend one improvement, I'd like to see a French Toast option.

A review just on the sweet stuff: had morning tea at Floriditas, grabbed a long black to go with my orange chocolate cake and ginger caramel loaf. Coffee was pretty good, I gotta say better than previous times I went. The cakes are amazing, they are tiny but don't let it fool you - they are decadent and addictively good. Haven't had the hot food so will have to try some other time. Service is a superb 2 thumbs up from me.

My weekend in Wellington was highlighted by a trip to Floriditas! It was recommended by a friend who is chef, so I was naturally very eager to get here.

I ordered a beetroot and parmsen risotto with toasted almonds. It was ridiculously creamy and the colour was just magnificent. I couldn't fault this dish at all, every mouthful was enjoyed. My mother ordered their granola with yoghurt and fruit, which was equally tasty and a massive serving. My friend ordered the kale and chicken salad which was presented brilliantly on the plate.

The service was excellent, consistently very good considering how packed this place was. Our water was subtlety topped up and we were very nicely asked how we were enjoying our meal. Looking forward to getting back down to Wellington for another meal here!

Floriditas Cafe and Restaurant is the first cafe to make it on my 5-star establishments list. Every single thing about my dining experience was perfect, from the food quality and presentation, through to the attentive service.

From the moment you step into Floriditas, it feels like you are in Europe. The ambiance is great, and decorations have all been well thought out, creating a magnificent dining environment.

I ordered the smoked mackerel and potato hash with a poached egg. Other members of my dining party ordered the soup of the day and the halloumi dish, which were also made to an excellent standard. The dish was absolutely stunning. All the flavours were in perfect harmony with each other, and the herbs used provided a whole new dimension of flavour. Service was attentive and efficient, with our water glasses being refilled before they were even empty.

The waiting times for the food were also great, taking no more than 20 minutes for our dishes to arrive. Coming in during a Monday lunchtime means they are at their least busiest.

The wine selection on offer is very broad, offering varieties from New Zealand and the world. My sauvignon blanc order was also served fairly promptly, testifying once again to the amazing service.

The Coffee Supreme long-black was made to an excellent standard. The extraction was perfect, creating a good amount of crema and body on the coffee.

Overall, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Floriditas. Every aspect of my dining experience was excellent. It looks like I have finally found my favourite cafe in Wellington!

Floriditas has become our regular Saturday post-run eggs location for many reasons, including:
1) We always seem to time it right so we don't have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table
2) The poached eggs with vine tomato salad, on their house-baked grain bread is always perfect
3) The coffee is fast to arrive and good. The one time it wasn't quite right (a rarity), the waitress noticed we weren't drinking it and replacements to made
4) Water is refilled without us even blinking - as soon as our glasses are empty, it is refuelled
5) The staff are friendly, efficient, and organised.

It is a relaxing environment, busy but not packed. I've also had the roasted baby beetroot, Serrano ham, shaved goats cheese watercress & black olives salad, which is fantastic, and goes well with fries!!

this is my 'local' coffee place. I have never dined here, but have been here for brunch and coffee/dessert on several occasions.

Service is very good. Dessert menu changes regularly. They have a good selection of wines and teas if you are not into coffee. Their chocolate truffles and chocolate fruit cake are to die for...

They seem to be open till quite late.

Definitely recommend this place.

A business colleague and I dined midweek after arriving in Wellington on an evening flight and looking for a meal in close proximity to our hotel. In a strange city it's always a good idea to tap into the local knowledge and look an establishment which is doing a good trade. It worked in this instance. We both chose pasta dishes; in my case the baby clam selection. I really couldn't fault it as the dish wouldn't have been out of place in one of the higher class specialist Italian restaurants. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful, too. We both found the small print on the menu a little hard to read, however our waitress quickly complied with my colleague's half joking request for a magnifying glass. Seems such requests are not uncommon.

Had absolutely amazing service and food here, was very surprised, in a good way! Hadn't been before but will definitely be back. Better than a lot of the top rated restaurants of Wellington. The waitress was excellent, made great recommendations, and was friendly and attentive. The fish was outstanding. Didn't have dessert this time (due to time restrictions) but menu looked great. Can't wait to go back!

I adore this place. I have been here multiple times now for both Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and I have been enthralled each time. The staff are lovely and the food is as close as Wellington gets to amazing fine dining. Would recommend this place to anyone. Especially in love with the homemade ice-cream!

I am a fan. Fell in love with this place when I had a girls weekend in Wellington recently. What's not to love about the decor (old style italianate, tiles, high ceilings), and the beautiful big picture windows which let the sun flood in. We went for brunch & enjoyed the hustle & bustle of the place. Service was prompt, food was great, coffee was good, and the naughty but delicious cupcakes with the second round of coffee really were THE BEST! Recommended for brunch. Must try dinner here next time I'm in Welly.

Floriditas gets extremely busy on Saturday nights and we were lucky to grab a table for six. The decor and atmosphere is elegant and inviting at any time of the day (I've brunched in the sun at Floriditas many times), although with such a full house the noise levels make it very difficult to carry out a normal conversation. The service throughout our meal was excellent; attentive, efficient (our water glasses were regularly refilled) and very pleasant. Our group started off by sharing a selection of cheddar and parmesan sticks, olives and risotto balls (as good as ever). We were very impressed with our main meals; I had lamb skewers with a radish and fennel salad - a very tasty combination. I can highly recommend the dark chocolate tart with cream and raspberries for dessert - yum!

The first thing that Im going to say is that floriditas is DIVINE. We (my family) go on a regular basis and every time we have been served promptly and been very satisfied with the food, ( yes and even the main critics, the kids!. The poached eggs on ciabatta with bacon are definately a favourite! The bacon is crispy and has a rich, smokey flavour (the way it should be!) and the eggs are always cooked to perfection. This goes perfectly with the crunchy ciabatta toast. Floriditas gets everything right in our book and keeps us coming back.

Great decor to start with! Very classy feel the minute you walk in with little details all over the place. We only had dessert and tea the first time we went there, which were heavenly and not your normal dessert affair! Went there a few more times, service and food remained awesome.

Pleasantly surprised when the waitress could remember me and my order on my second visit about a month apart! Talk about exceptional service!

I always enjoy the food and coffee at Floriditas but I don't go as often as I would because I find the staff unpleasant. There are a couple of exceptions to this but for the most part I always walk away wondering why I bothered paying money to be treated rudely!

I love Floriditas in Cuba St, have been twice recently and enjoyed the food and style of the place immensely.

Thursday this week was a cold and wet typical Wellington day, with this the big bowl of ham and split pea soup was ordered together with crusty bread and a meat loaf bap for my companion. Simple and perfectly hitting the lunch time pleasure place.

This European style cafe has become an institution for Wellingtonians and now this Aucklander.

I dine at Floriditas on a regular basis and have done since it opened! I find the staff here absolutely amazing! And the food (I have eaten breakfast, brunch, lunch & dinner) is always delicious!
Over the countless times i have visited Floriditas (and i'm talking around 50 times i have been) I have NEVER had a bad experience with the food, drink or staff!
My only disappointment was going there for lunch yesterday & being told they no longer do brunch menu during the week, so i couldn't get poached eggs on toast that i was craving!
Would highly recommend this restaurant - and will definitely be visiting again soon!

Try the vegetarian risotto with feta....awesome! I hope it's still there when I go back!
The only thing that was a little annoying was at how close the tables are together...only just enough room to squeeze through to get to your seat, so not much privacy being so close to your neighbours. Also, when this place is busy, it gets very loud! If you can handle that - no worries, tis worth putting up with that to have the risotto!

My partner and I had dinner here & it was superb. We're both vegetarian & the mains menu was a bit limited for us, but it was seriously good food. The service was excellent & timely despite being very busy & the food was to die for, expecially the buffalo mozzarella entree. Wait staff were efficient and helpful.

I have been to Floriditas for breakfast and dinner a number of times and absolutely recommend! Breakfast menu is beyond yummy (best scrambled eggs that I have ever had) and coffee perfect! Dinner menu is also delicious and good selection of wine and beer. They even have an Australian beer (Coopers) that I love and which is hard to get in New Zealand. Service brilliant and food excellent. GO NOW!

This place is perfect for food at any time of the day, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and they have a great snack menu too! I particularly love the haloumi salad with flat bread and the white bean puree with breadsticks.

Let me first confess; Floriditas is my favourite cafe anywhere. Great coffee, great food & great atmosphere. This wonderful little establishment can be found at 161 Cuba St in Wellington.

I love its old world charm, you could be in a cafe in Paris or some other grand European city. Very bohemian chic with high ceilings, tiled walls & tall frosted windows, they even serve tea in proper china tea cups.

Flo's, as it is affectionately known by locals, is relaxed & casual with a focus on seasonal food that is simple & delicious with fresh, bright flavours, & all sourced from the finest suppliers both local & around NZ delivering fresh, vibrant flavours. They open for breakfast & go right through to dinner & go from day time cafe to evening restaurant seamlessly.

A visit to Wellington always includes a few trips to Floriditas so there have been numerous visits. It's a place to linger & take your time.

For breakfast I like the scrambled eggs with Akaroa smoked salmon or actually anything that is served with their homemade 5 grain bread. A few loaves always make their way back to Auckland along with their homemade seville orange marmalade & raspberry jam. And if I am in the mood for something lighter for breakfast I like the soft boiled egg with ciabatta. You'll also be tempted by all the pretty little cakes on display.

What I like about their breakfast menu is that you can have the full monty; eggs & toast, bacon & eggs, ham off the bone with poached eggs & hollandaise, omelette or even a smoked mackerel potato hash with poached egg. However, if you're after sometihng lighter there's 5 grain toast with tomatoes or avocado, lemon & black pepper. So there is something for everyone.

I've been for back for a lazy lunch with friends & cosy dinners with my parents many times. I've tried not to over indulge too much, sometimes passing on entrees only to be lured by the desserts! The menus changes depending on the seasons. I've had a creamy asparagus & parmesan risotto with gremolata crumbs. Creamy with perfectly cooked, crisp bright green asparagus & the gremolata crumb the perfect finishing touch, as always a little lemon zest in just about anything works a little magic. They do great pasta too, a favourite is the linguine with cloudy bay clams, white wine & flat leaf parsley. Bright & fresh & comfort food all at the same time.

For dessert I rarely go past the brown sugar pavlova & niether should you, it is somewhat of a Floriditas classic. When I was there it was with cointreau, oranges & pistachio sprinkles. The pav was crunchy on the outside and a chewy in the middle, just how I like it. And the pistachio sprinkles were no ordinary pistachios they were caramel coated & the perfect foil for the orange. As you can imagine dessert heaven. I've also had Churros with a Valrohna Dipping Chocolate...seriously if you love chocolate it is almost impossible to go past Valrohna anything. Being in Wellington the advantage is that you can walk almost anywhere within the city centre which is just as well with all the temptations on offer!

Service is attentive & friendly & it is almost always a bustling hive of activitiy morning, noon & night. So if you're in Wellington be sure to check out Floriditas, you'll be spoilt for choice & it might just become one of your favourites too.

This darling cafe and restaurant, located in the heart of Cuba Street, serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner with an extensive menu throughout the day. So my sister and I stopped by in search for a delectable lunch with a good cup of joe.

With dishes such as pasta, soup of the day, filled buns, steak and platters on offer, we were spoilt for choice. I ended up getting the smoked mackerel and potato hash. The combination of chunky smashed potatoes and flakes of smoked mackerel was exceptional. This was topped off with a perfectly poached egg. The liquid gold (aka runny egg yolk) kept everything moist and intensified the flavours without being overly rich.

The lunch was a great way to start our day, which included shopping and more shopping. Floriditias has a calm relaxing vibe and we were pleased with the attentive service. Next time, I'm going to have the clam pasta!

Floraditas looks gorgeous, lots of light, elegant without being overwhelmingly formal. The service is a little erratic, veering from overly attentive to practically requiring a crash tackle to get a glass of water. The food though is pretty much unfailingly good - light and tasty with lots of healthy options. I tend to drop in here when I am feeling peckish so I can try a few small things. That way I get to enjoy the Floraditas experience without having to sell my first born child to pay for it...

absolutely incredible brunch this morning. Service impeccable. Atmosphere is sublime. Decor is stunning and incredibly well done. I absolutely loved the scrambled eggs, true perfection there! My dad had the smoked fish hash and we were both very impressed with how light and delicate it was for a potato based dish. This is Wellington’s best spot. Definitely blows any Queenstown and Auckland establishments out the water for me. My compliments to all staff!

Went here for brunch and ate something new to me -- FISH HASH; see pic. I am from the USA and am a huge diner aficionado, having eaten all kinds of hash, but the dish provided to me was dee-licious! My waitress was friendly; we had a nice chat. Service was exceptional ‐‐ I was forced to give a large tip! lol HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A cozy place. Hospitable hosts (very friendly and kind), really delicious food and beautiful presentation. I love the atmosphere, very chill and great background music. It is one of those places with a bit expensive menu items but good quality - you can enjoy every bite of your meal. The menu is not that extensive but worth it. As it is usually packed, I'd recommend to book in advance and be patient (dishes might take a long time to prepare and expect a delay in bringing in the food). Try the Green eggs 'n ham and the turmeric latte, simply delish.

Was quite busy when we went but staff were super friendly and helpful, took the name & number of one of our group then sent a message when a big enough table was available (about ten minutes). Once seated, we ordered drinks & decided on food...two of us had the poached eggs on toast with crispy potatoes and bacon...absolutely delicious! Three of us had Oj which was really nice. Portion sizes are just right too. Would absolutely recommend to others. Well worth the time & money.

Floriditas is a must visit when in Wellington. It is sun drenched through the big windows, with a cozy interior and absolutely fantastic people working there - very attentive and quick to help. I went for the Fish Pie, which they’ve been making for 18 years and it was perfect, I day dream of this pie now. The coffee is excellent. I think I might come here every time I’m in Wellington.
