Probably at the higher price end compared to the rest of the coffee shop we have checked out but definitely a good spot to sit and relax after exploring the seat of New Zealand power. You may see one or two guys you’ve seen on the telly if you stay long enough.

Lunch at the newly refurbished Backbencher today, with every meal receiving a 5/5 star rating! I had the roasted cauliflower bowl- not sure of exact details but combination of roasted cauli., finely chopped spinach, chickpeas in a yummy sauce???, egg, humus, and cos lettuce! I was after something light, but it was really great value for money and not mean with portions, so much so that I couldn’t finish it. Smashed burger was perfect I am told while the pigs in a blanket accompanied with 2 types of mustard, was tasty! Bowl of fries were the bomb!!! Staff super accomodating and polite while the decor was great! Loved the newest versions of politicians on display- a perfect Winston with scotch and ciggy, Chris L, Chloe S, David S, Judith C and Jerry B! I always measure a good pub on their bathrooms- clean and well stocked! We’ll be back.

A well presented pub and eatery, enjoyed the beet salad with halloumi, however there was too much dressing so the salad in the bottom of my bowl was saturated with oil. However the rest of the salad was really tasty. The decor was clean and vibrant and has great views over the grassed area to the beehive.

Iconic bar. We arrived after the kitchen had closed so ordered a LOT of bar snacks for a group of 15+ people and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and looked after us.

A very interesting pub, catering to the political folk that work around it and those that just want to pop in for a drink and a bite to eat. There is a history and take a walk around seeing the caricatures on display will definitely put a smile on your face. The citizens will understand. Well worth it.

The food was decent. I do not like the new way to order, it's just a fast food place rather than a restaurant. The acoustics is not good.

A cool spot to explore and have a cuppa in the capital especially if you are around the beehive, just walk cross the street. Fun to look at the puppets representing the Government figures updated from time to time. The food is generous portion.

We had a great time here, went on a Sunday night so it was relatively quite. Service was good and we weren't waiting long to receive our meals. We could barely finish the desert as we were so full. My only complaint is we had trouble contacting them over the phone and had to book online. Not a big deal in the end...

One of my favourite spots in Wellington. Service is always spot on. As is the food and drinks offering! Thanks for looking after us.

A Wellington institution that has been well renovated (again) with good food and a good range of beers. It ain't super cheap but the team are friendly and helpful and the interior is cosy.
