Pickle and pie! Oh my! Super super scrumptious! I got one of their signature pies (the mushroom and parmasean one) and my oh my it was mouthwateringly good, the outside was beautifully flaky and the inside was a cream delicious heaven! My boyfriend got the salmon ladkes which he loved and devoured in seconds!
Exceptional service ✔Chic space ✔ Yummy, creative dishes ✔ What's not to love?! So impressed with this lovely cafe tucked away off the main road. Staff were so accommodating, and eager to please.
Cute and cosy cafe in the city. As the name suggests - the are known for their pies and pickles. Absolutely did not disappoint! However, I note that there were only two pie options when I was there - creamy mushroom (I chose this) and a chicken and chorizo pie. Pastry and filling could not be faulted, nor could the pickle! There are also other cabinet foods and items you can order off the menu.
It’s always a good time at pickle and pie. Great coffee and good cabinet selection which is what I usually go for. Of course the pies with mash is so so so satisfying.
Always take the time to stop by on the way to work for a great coffee and poached eggs with a bit of zing (pickle of course)
As the add says “Start the day the right way”
Staff are great too very friendly and professional
Excellent! My favourite place in Wellington. We had: great pies with mash; to die for eggplant deli sandwiches; and kids had the fancy hotdogs and poutine with sauces on the side. The pickles and sauces really brought it home for me as I’m a saucy kind of chick.
Excellent service too: nothing was a problem for the staff.
The coffee is not that great but that doesn’t affect my score for them as they have other drink choices.
Sorry no photos as we devoured the food without hesitating.
Food, service and atmosphere are great here. We have tried three pies in different flavours - mushroom, beef, and venison. They are all tasty and presented nicely. If you look for a place hanging out with family and friends, here is the place.
Stopped here recently for a Quick brunch on a Saturday morning and I was blown away for more than one reason - courteous staff, quick service, great indoor and outdoor ambience and most importantly tasty food. Walked in- immediately greeted and seated. Ordered sourdough bread with spicy scrambled eggs and coffee. Initial thoughts - pricey. But when the order came through, I must admit it was worth every penny. It was a visual treat and tasted amazing. A humble dish elevated to a whole new level and generous portions. Needless to say - I literally cleaned up my plate. Will definitely come back. Highly recommend this place.
One of the best Deli Cafes in the city. Bit off the main streets and crowds, but absolutely worth to find. They open early morning to serve breakfast with multiple options to chose from , amazing deli and sandwiches including some vegan options. As for the name they have some selection of house made Lisa’s, but my absolute favourite are pickles. Best thing is you can even buy them in jar and take home. Good coffee with nicely tasting blend and several alternative milk alternatives. Also good choice of tea options to chose from. If you are after something sweet there are some cakes and muffins to chose from. Nice and friendly staff! On a sunny day, best is to grab one of the outdoor seats and enjoy your time.
Just scored brunch in time thanks to lovely wait staff. Chocolate French toast with fried chicken very yum, although chicken may have been a tad on the drier side but no fuss. Great food and location
Pickle & Pie always has delicious food, both in the cabinet and on the menu. The barista is very reliable with her constantly top quality coffees!
Great place to eat or just to have a coffee. It was famous for its large Reuben sandwiches made with home made pastrami which are, unfortunately, not on the menu any more. Still, it is a place that delivers.
Went to Pickle and Pie at 11: 45 on a Friday during Matariki (public holiday), despite being relatively busy service was fast and attentive ordered a iced latte and the pizza scroll as seen in image unfortunately the scroll was a disappointment that lacked flavour and was greasy, the coffee was very weak, barely any bitterness, I suspect that they use a single shot as standard although don’t know why, atmosphere is quite nice and helps to lift this cafe up to 4 stars in my opinion although I would argue 3 stars is satisfactory as well, I also ordered a takeaway peach crumble which I haven’t eaten yet but based on previous experiences, their slices seem quite delicious overall decent cosy cafe for a good price, can’t comment on menu food however as haven’t tried
Love the pies they have!
Just like the name suggested, this is the place to have lovely pies.
I tried
The place was packed when we came during lunch time but we didn’t have to wait too long.
They have various kinds of pies, sweet and savoury. They serve brunch and lunch.
They have lovely deep dish apple pies in creamy yogurt, choco pies, mushrooms & truffle pie, beef brisket & smoked cheese pies and more! I tried the mushroom & truffle one and I love it.
The staff is very friendly, the place is nicely decorated and strategically located as well.
Happy to come back here!
My god the food here was great 👏👏👏 we absolutely loved the pastrami sandwich! Best pastrami I've had. I can't wait to come back and try everything else on the menu. The staff and atmosphere were also great, really friendly.
Friendly service and welcoming staff, great yummy juices and also good coffee. Apple, tumeric, carrots in orange and green veggies in green. Delicious fried chicken with coleslaw, kept us full for the rest of the day. Cool spot in the sun if you are outside, closer to midday. We'll be back!
Have been here many times for coffee (always very good), but today was the first time I’ve been here for food. I had the porridge and really enjoyed it. Was especially pleased to find a porridge from a café that was both nut free and dairy free! My boyfriend had the fried chicken sandwich and really enjoyed that as well. Would definitely recommend Pickle & Pie for both the food and coffee, as well as the vibe and friendly service too.
Caught up with mates over a pie (Creamy Mushroom) not a bad pie. $24 for a pie and pickle salad with a bit of mash is a bit on the high side. Nonetheless I was back there again buying the brisket pie an hour later out of curiosity. The others tried pies also and enjoyed the pie. The have nice coffee / lattes as well as other beverages. Seating was available both inside and outside with blankets on the lawn for more relaxed eating.
I have eaten here in the past and always enjoyed a really good pie. However I am writing this to thank you for coming to my daughters rescue last week. She was threatened and chased by a very intimidating stranger, and you protected her. Thankyou good angels.
Incredible pies and coffee. Loved the mushroom pie and the steak ones most of all. Iced coffee was delicious as well. Servers were very friendly and the food was ready quickly.
Happened to find this small place while walking around Wellington . It’s a bit hidden inside a walkway,so might have to look around a bit before you even find it ;) The food was so tasty like the French toast and home made granola, amazing coffees , the fresh juices as well. It was soo good that we came back the next day to try the rest of the items in the menu !! Would recommend to anyone. Give it a try and you would not be disappointed ;)
The most delicious beef brisket burger and crinkle cut chips for Wellington on a plate!
