Love that the vegan options are listed separately, makes it so much easier. Yummy biriyani and spice levels are bang on. Plus they are so lovely and friendly.
Slightly gutted I already had already been to the bakery for a fill. But I still had room for a mango lassi! Owner was super cheerful and was happy to make one to go. Straight up the best thing to have on a hot day. #mangolassiforever #thick 😍😍😍
Their goat Dhaka curry was exquisite! I’ve had a few curries in my life but have to say it was the best! Couple that with friendly service, very reasonable prices and you can’t go wrong. Had it with the Kereru Resonator IPA - beer brewed in the Hutt! Never tried that before but even beat my favourite Panhead!!!
Food was excellent, we had a variety of food as there was 9 of us, so we all sampled each other's food. We ordered the bread platter, which there was alot & would recommend for 2 people to share. For those that dont like spicey u can get the mild options for most of the dishes. Mango lassi was yum, however dessert was disappointed as not much variety & the price u pay is abit much for the amount u pay. The mango dessert was lovely, but small. I would dine here again. Restaurant is situated on 1 of the main roads in newtown, so easy access to public transport & parking. Downfalls is the toilet is situated up the stairs & thru the kitchen. Also im not sure if they had highchairs for babies, not the biggest restaurant, so pays to book in advance! Friendly service.

I love going to Curry Heaven for lunch; their cheap deals make it very good value for money. And the staff are always friendly and accommodating.
I think my favourite dishes are probably the Malabari and Saagawala. Definitely try this place out if you can!
Our fave Indian takeaway! I order the pasanda, partner orders the butter chicken. The boss is lovely and we have a good relationship with him. Up there as our number one option for Indian takeaway.
By far the best Indian food in Wellington, owned by a beautiful hospitable family. I have eaten at least 10 dishes here - lamb, chicken, beef and vegetarian. I have never had a bad dish. They are all so incredibly flavoursome compared to other mediocre Indian restaurants around. Currently eating a "kiwi hot" (75%) lamb nawabi for lunch as I write this. $10, large and super tasty. Go here!
Frnd recommends curry here strongly, so my flatmate and me decided to have dinner. Friendly stuff good service, also gave us some advice on food. I ordered chicken masala, tasted very good, better than downtown. Good place to have curry.
Had takeaways from here many times. Good pricing and always enjoy my meal! Usually get the butter chicken or chicken korma - so good! Staff are really friendly and meals always come out fast - within ten minutes.
Had a takeaway curry with two garlic naans and a samosa! It was very delicious and cheap for two adults. I love how you can see Into the kitchen of the restaurant! I know it's a great safe place to eat!
Great wee curry spot in Newtown. Really good butter chicken and chicken tikka. Friendly staff and even let us see the tandoori oven and how they make it all work. Great flavours regardless of the curry purchased here. One of the 'go to's' on our takeaway list and they are willing to make dishes as you please, we had a chicken korma but with the chicken tikka meat... DELICIOUS! Thanks guys, will visit again soon.
Went yesterday and although a little bit small the atmosphere was friendly and the butter chicken I ordered was just perfect, not too sweet or tomato soup flavoured. And the staff friendly and attentive. Didn't have to wait to be served. Will be back to try other options on the menu. Nice find.

Just tried the Chicken korma-total convert to this place now, best curry house in Wellington.
I have eaten here several times, both dine-in and takeaway and never once had a disappointing experience. This is largely due to the lovely owner Badal who treats everyone like a long lost friend! His warm welcome makes you feel at home and he truly would do anything for his customers.
The food is fantastic, I would highly recommend Butter Prawns (not listed on the menu but nothing is too much to ask) and garlic naan. The $9 lunch special is also value for money. With so many Indian Eateries in Newtown, it is high competition but I would highly recommend Curry Heaven.
You walk in to this small room feeling a little uncertain but then the welcomed means you are no longer a stranger and now a guest. It is a delightful, small Indian restaurant, such attentive staff who seem to especially enjoy families. And the food is excellent, especially the starters and the veggie options - malai kofta is highly recommended. And I loved the lamb jalfrazei. Just such a nice place - and with BYO for wine it is very good value. The healthy happy battle between Curry Heaven and Planet Spice continues - and there are no losers. Go.
My partner and I regularly order takeaway curries from here. Their takeaway curries are fairly cheap at around $12-14 for a curry with rice. The curries are delicious, although the heat often varies for the same dish. Their onion bhaji is probably the second-best that I have ever had.
We have never dined in there, and nor would we want to. The dine-in prices are a little higher than their takeaway (but about the same as the other Indian restaurants in Newtown at around $16-17 per curry), and the dining area is garishly decorated, quite poky and cramped, and often feels too warm for my liking.

I love the food and the people at Curry Heaven. I find that I crave going there and eating their food every week. My favorite dishes are the: palak paneer, sabzi bahar and a special dish that they make for me when I feel like eating vegan is palak gobi. The palak gobi isn't on the menu, but they happily accommodate my diet even when I eat vegan. They are also happy to replace the potatoes with cauliflower as I like cauliflower more! Sometimes I forget to order my food just how I like it (for instance my roti without butter) and they remember for me. :) A few weeks ago, I ordered something Indian hot (forgetting to order it Kiwi hot) and they automatically adjusted to what they knew I meant. It was perfectly hot to my liking. We had a good laugh about it later, but they are so conscientious and really try to pay attention to what their customers enjoy, this is typical behavior of them. They all are very sweet people, make wonderful food with exceptionally high standard of ingredients, and the price is probably a lot cheaper than it could be which is nice for budget folks ($9 for any lunch meal with basmati rice and plain naan). The dinner portions are also a decent price as the portions seem to be twice as large.
Very much enjoyed every time we go there, and the price is excellent. Good quality food and friendly welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend to everybody!
Have only had lunch here but it has become our favourite when we are in Wellington. Food is always top notch, especially when considering the price! I have paid three times the price for the same food elsewhere that didn't match the quality I get here, an absolute gem. Nothing fancy in decor but great food & friendly helpful staff.

I love Curry Heaven, they have the best curry in Wellington. Whenever I have vistors stay we go to curry heaven and now all agree that curry heaven have the best indian food.
Curries were delicious. Was very quiet the night we went, so hardly anyone else there, but the service was still friendly and of course food was delivered quickly.
Came here with friends tonight. The service was absolutely AMAZING & the food was even better. Top quality food and everything tasted immaculate. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a genuinely outstanding authentic Indian dinner! Thank you so much guys

My kids, grandchildren and I enjoyed a tasty meal here tonight. The Lamb Jalfrezi was the best I have ever tasted and the Goat Special was also delightful. This small restaurant could easily be overlooked but the simplicity of it adds to the charm. The service was friendly and welcoming. They do not have a liscence so bring your own, or just go for a really good curry and go out for drink later!!

We received a friendly welcome and very fast service. The owner himself came out to check on us during our meal. The space is intimate and the food.. Omg, we left full to the brim with delicious perfectly spiced dishes.
Would definitely recommend for anyone who has dietary requirements as they are labeled on the menu.

This might look like a tiny restaurant, but it has the most fabulous food and great atmosphere. We love it here. Their specialty curries are absolutely delicious. The gorgeous lady in charge is always charming and helpful. Support this business - it's part of the heart of Newtown and contributes to the vibrancy of this dynamic part of town. We make the 1 hour trip from where we live across town to this restaurant, and then shop at the second hand bookstores and buy vegetables at cheapest greengrocer in Wellington. Curry Heaven is simply the best!

Love this place! The food is always amazing. Great vegan and vegetarian options. The staff are lovely and you can tell they care a lot about their food. Highly recommend the Cheese Garlic Naan - one of the best around and big enough for two people.
Went tonight as a group of 4 for dinner...mains, rice cheese garlic naans....food as always was really good...so tasty..service really good...will continue to eat here...please remember it's byo.
Me and my partner went for dinner a few days ago, and this is my absolute favourite spot. Not only is the food impecable and you can tell they care about it, it's a small venue and the staff were friendly and accommodating we felt welcomed as soon as we walked in! The recommendations were perfect and we will definitely be back :)
Yummy food. Took the kids between sports activities and we all loved the food. Kids had butter chicken and we had palak paneer and lamb Rogan Josh. Also had delicious garlic Naan breads. Its a little place. The staff are lovely and rembered us from the last time. They got us feed quickly so we could get on to the next sporting activitie with full happy bellies. Thanks and we will be back

I Went here for lunch last week while I was on holiday and had maybe the best restaurant experience of my life. Curry Haven living up to its name. When I arrived with my friends it was already quite busy however this did not stop the staff from providing amazing customer service. Immediately we felt well looked after and at home. We brought 3 different curries along with the tandoori chicken wings. Flavours were beautiful, nutty warm and spiced to perfection ! Me and the girls were actually screaming with excitement at the table because we could not believe how good our meals were. Wellington is a hard place to find authentic delicious well priced food but I can safety say that Curry Haven Ticks all those boxes. I cannot wait to return and I hope that many more make the journey over to visit this culinary gem ! :)
