It’s so great having family or friends who are passionate foodies. So handy when it comes to having them recommending cool eateries in town, and today we are happily led to Leeds Street Bakery for a quick, light lunch and another shot of caffeine.
We share a couple of rolls made from baguettes which are lovingly crafted by their in-house bakers. Look out for the fresh artisan loaves of bread for sale on your left at the entrance. The staff are very friendly, and very helpful, happily providing a small and sharp serrated knife to cut our crunchy and soft baguettes for sharing.
The sweet treats on offer here are legendary in Wellington and we succumb to a biscuit and glazed scroll, both of which are sublime. For great service, proudly crafted baking goods and very well made coffees etc, this a top spot to try.

I strolled in one day looking for something to take to our friends' place for dinner and found the most beautiful, freshly baked loaves of bread, still warm from the oven! Would definitely recommend getting a loaf of their sourdough bread.

We walk in never being there before, a unwelcoming straight face emotionless staff member just stood there behind the counter, so we look around, lost, pit says bakery. Walk up to the counter a menu is then presented with 4 sandwich selections. $12 avg price, I got the avocado withZany Zues Brizna cheese - it was so tasty. My toast was kind burnt as in the crusts were almost cremated and hard as concrete but it didn't matter it was delicious. So now I buy the bread from here and the cheese from Moore Wilsons - and make it at home - no toast issues now!

Red Rabbit coffee fix & salted caramel cookie time! Love the space tucked away in a redevelopment of the old Hannah's shoe factory spaces. Neighbours are WCF & Egmont St eatery.

Red Rabbit Roastery and Leeds Street Bakery come together to form the perfect foodie partnership in Hannah's Lane. The Leeds Street salted caramel cookie deserves every accolade it gets. We sampled the small gourmet sandwich lunch menu today and paired our meals with Red Rabbit coffee. My salami, rocket, pesto and Parmesan baguette was divine and big enough to eat half and take the other half back to the office for later. We finished by sharing a salted caramel cookie, cut into thirds to allow the calories to fall out. Delicious! We'll definitely be back.

Beautiful food here. They change their sandwich menu daily to make sure they are serving the freshest, in season produce. The bread is to die for, best I have ever had. They also do the most amazing salted caramel cookies. Favourite cafe in welly. Today I had avocado on polenta bread with smoked brinza cheese, olive oil, and cracked pepper.

Coexisting with Red Rabbit Roastery, Leeds Street Bakery doesn't just serve up tasty baked treats, it offers some damn good coffee too!

Offering a range of brewing methods such as V60 and chemex, your coffee is brewed the way you like it best.

Not only making an impression with their coffee, Leeds Street bakery serve up Salted Caramel Cookies said to have "caramel lovers weak at the knees". So I added one to my receipt...and then another.

Open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 3.30pm I recommend heading in around 2. As it's a small cafe it can get busy quickly, popping in at 2 got me a table straight away.

Hidden down Leed Street this cafe serves as the perfect retreat from city distractions and and one worth visiting in my books.

Simply echoing another review it is worth driving across town to buy the salted caramel cookies. Eat one there with the very good coffee, buy two more for home, and take an extra dose of insulin. When at goldings next door we sneak out to bring back a cookie to have with craft beer - perfect. These cookies are soft, moist, salty, caramel sweet and extraordinary.

Three words SALTED CARAMEL COOKIES.

These are to die for. End of story.

Them side the rest of the Kent is great too. I also believe the coffee is right up there as some of the best in town. Despite the fact that bags of beens are about double the price of other roasteries we still buy it from time to time - so good.

Leeds St Bakery aka Red Rabbit is one of my favourite wee cafés in Welly. So good in fact that I even miss it now I'm back in Sydney, a city which is no slouch itself in the café stakes! They do seriously good bread, the coffee is lovingly crafted from excellent beans but the hero is absolutely the baking. Mouth watering salted caramel cookies, Afghans that melt in your mouth with lingering traces of chocolatey goodness, what's not to love? All topped off with genuinely warm and friendly service... You SO have to try it :)

Now that I no longer live in Wellington I have to make a list of all the places I need to go to when I visit. Leed St Bakery was at the top of my list when I went to Wellington last weekend. Tucked away at the back of Leed St I feel like you would only find it if you were looking it. An amazing coffee selection and excellent baked goods, what more could you ask for? I ordered the V60 for two with Nigerian beans and the salted caramel cookie. The salted caramel cookie has garnered a reputation. Another friend visiting from Dunedin bought 5 salted caramel cookies to take back with her. They are that good people. Next time I will have to stock up too.

Its great to see a bakery using organic and free range ingredients. Leeds St provided a tasty range of goodies for a farewell morning tea, for one of our staff - The rye bread was devoured - the rocket scones disappeared and the caramel salted cookies were AMAZING - The Big cookies must be a meal in themselves.
Thanks for taking the time to outline your ingredients - Food definately made with aroha, we are life members for sure.

Tried this place the second day it opened and I was blown away. By time I got there, there was only a tiny selection of cakes left, but after sharing a raspberry friand and a little hazelnut-chocolate jobbie, I can say without a doubt they were some of the tastiest little desserty things I've tried in this fair city of ours.
The coffee was a beautiful light roast, and I say that as someone who usually distinguishes coffee as either "fine" or "burnt-tasting". Not only do they have a selection to satisfy the keenest of coffee snobs, but they are friendly and knowledgeable about their range.
I didn't get to try their bread but it looked like the sort of stuff worth giving up a low-carb diet for.
Well done guys :D

A revisit (when it used to be called Leeds Street Bakery) after a few years. Coffee is still good, as is the baked goods. Would probably have preferred less onion in the salad.

Decent bakery in the city, I'd say their Chocolate Almond Croissant should be more famous than the Salted Caramel Cookie.

These may just be the best croissants in Wellington!! Gorgeous soft buttery pastry and the coffee is delicious too. Lovely, friendly staff and a really great little spot to enjoy a morning treat. Been a few times and it never disappoints (except when they run out of croissants) so be sure to get there early enough or reserve some through their website.

Gentle ambience and excellent service. Absolutely divine almond croissant, flaky, not too sweet and full of delicious almond flavour. The chai latte was also excellent
not a sweet powdered instant cafe chai but full of proper spices and flavour. Really worth a visit to this little Wellington gem.
