We had the takeaway brunch burger! It was delicious! We also got some cute little sweets thrown in the bag which was a great touch! We will be back for date night when we are in level 2! ❤️ coffee was lovely too!
Had pancakes and they just tasted like flour I had to ask for more syrup 4 times . My parents ordered burgers was 22 dollars for the meal there was hardly anything in the burgers also had about 5 chips . Never going back again
We were 50/50 going due to the reviews but decided to try it out for ourselves and we all enjoyed our meals. I can see why customers are saying the portions are small but it's the type of restaurant (not pub dinning) and more on the flavours and quality of the food. Steak was very nice, the smoked taro puree was so good, I was licking my plate. My mum enjoyed her chicken breast meal. Steak was cooked to our liking. We all had dessert which was the creme brulee which was very tasty. Would definitely dine here again.
wonderful! loved dining here. the food service was quick and efficient. nothing was cold , overcooked or worse mixed up. the wine menu was great! very pleased I stumbled across Tohu ❤ overall a great dinner out for a reasonable price, highly recommend!
We popped in for brunch on a Wednesday, service was friendly and prompt- we were in and out within the hour.
Surroundings were clean, excellent napkins (That's important!) And the food was faultless.
They were more than happy to amend and add things to my omelette to suit and it arrived crispy and delicious.
The other half enjoyed a chicken and bacon wrap and fries.
Brunch was $40 which I thought was excellent value for two mains and two large coffees.
Great breakfast and lunch menu. Next on our menu is to check out the dinner menu. Great for families or just needing a good meal. Great staff, always smiling.
Nice cafe/restaurant popped in for a lunch and sampled their burger and corn fitters
Quality of food was high, taste of burger very good, however given price $20 and location suburban Upper Hutt the potion size was very small, really the only reason for stars drop is the potion size.
Service was good, staff attentive, clean tidy place.
Had dinner last night outstanding service we started with Garlic Bread very fresh and soft so a great way to start my Partner orded Fish of Day this was on a potatoe mash she said it was perfectly cooked and couldn't fault it I had ordered the Strip Loin Steak wow yum perfectly cooked med rare so this was perfect. Dessert wow salted caramel Panacota yum yum perfect evening out service was outstanding but we did find the restaurant far to warm.
Service: 10 out 10
Food: 10 out of 10
Atmosphere: 5 out of 10
Price: $116.00 for two includes beer so very resonable
Service: Great
Price: Average
Food: Nice
Coffee: Very good
Nice place and enjoyed eating here so would recommend this place to all. They are a family business so probably cannot afford to lower prices and do a cheap 2 for 1 on a Tuesday so do make the effort. Recommended!
As a family of 6 adults we went for dinner on 2 for 1 Tuesday. We had a wonderful evening, the waiting staff were on point we were only seated for a short time and the drinks were ordered and delivered. The entree arrived the conversation started and the timing of the mains was perfect, the meals were fantastic not kidding when they say you eat with your eyes first. Between us we had the chicken, lamb, fish and beef the flavours we divine i had the chicken on a carrot and ginger puree (OMG) it was incredible in fact no room for dessert. It was a lovely evening and one I intend to repeat. Happy to share the love on this venue xx
I thought I had posted a review of here, but apparently not.
my wife and I regularly visit this place for lunch. The food is well presented, the staff are pleasant and it has no pretensions to be anything other than a pleasant neighborhood bistro. My wife and I always find something worth eating. Personally I enjoy their soups in the winter and the pasta on occasion. The wine list is short, but adequate.
We look forward to our visits.
Was looking for a restaurant option in Upper Hutt and decided to try the Silverspoon for dinner having only been once before for lunch. Happened to arrive on 2 for 1 Tuesday and was so pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. We ordered one pork and one lamb main and one scallop entree for a third person. All were perfectly cooked and really tasty, as well as beautifully presented. At less than $80 for a fantastic meal for three including drinks, can't go wrong. Good service and probably the best food in this area.
I haven't been back here since 2003 ... until today. We wanted somewhere nicer than McDonald's for brekkie so ended up here. Drinks were ordered and furnished right away, however my tea was extremely weak. There was then a wait of approximately 30 minutes for our meals - which came 5 minutes after another couples' food who arrived 5 minutes after us. We are not sure why it took so long to poach a few eggs and fry some bacon. I had the big breakfast of over-done hash browns, hard poached eggs, two small kranskys sliced thin in half, and dry wizzened mushrooms. I asked for some tomato so it wasn't so dry, and was told they had none. Odd, given they are located 10 metres away from a large supermarket. Hubby had the eggs benny (he will comment). Nice decor but not going back.
Here's the hubby's 10 cents worth:
After numerous visits to the Vet next door we decided it was time to give Silverspoon a shot. We were warmly greeted by a staff member and were given a bottle of water and menus.
Orders were given for the Big Breakfast and an Eggs Bennie. The wife asked if she could possibly have a tomato with her Big Breakfast but this could not be accomodated as they didn't have any, which was disappointing because there's a New World right next door and tomato is pretty much de rigueur for cafe breakfasts.
My coffee arrived and was okay, the wife's teapot had one teabag in it and her drink was weaker than American beer.
After about a 25min wait in a near empty restaurant, food approached ...and was promptly given to the couple next to us who arrived 10mins after us. Upon enquiring I was told ours was coming up.
Her breakfast consisted of over-done hash browns, hard poached eggs, two small kranskys sliced thin in half and then fried to within an inch of their lives, and dry tired mushrooms. My Eggs Bennie arrived with over-cooked eggs which ruins the whole effect and point of ordering one.
In summary, nice place with congenial staff let down by what is coming out of the kitchen. It's a shame, as prior to Saturday Silverspoon was on our short-list for a Valentines Day dinner venue, however not now.
We went back tonight (26/02/2015) to take advantage of a meal voucher offered by management ... as a result I have upped my rating to 4.0. We had garlic bread, bacon wrapped scallops, sweet potato & pear soup, pork fillet (mushroom rice cakes, bok choy & plum sauce), eye fillet (caramelised onion, bok choy & cauliflower puree), the lemon curd & butterscotch pudding [all pictured]. We were impressed with the service provided by our waitress & the presentation of the meals ... thank you team :-)
Yesterday my partner and I along with his family dined at your restaurant for his Nana’s 90th Birthday.
We were a rather large group and my partners Nana is also blind and deaf so a rather challenging group of customers to start with! I understand she has visited your restaurant before however seeing as it was my first time there I wanted to let you know how incredibly impressed I was with the staff and the level of service we received.
Most notably I want to make a mention of Michelle who went the extra mile to ensure the experience was as comfortable as possible. From the cushion of the chair, to assisting in taking her to the bathroom with her daughter and making sure she was warm enough I cannot thank you enough. We all commented on how wonderful Michelle was, along with the entire team, nothing was a problem whatsoever.
Being 90 is an achievement in itself though it was also the first time her family were all together in 10 years, and quite possibly the last so thank you so very much for making it the most enjoyable experience possible.
On behalf of the family we cannot thank you enough, please pass on my thanks to Michelle and the team – I will recommend your restaurant without hesitation.
Thank you
Dined here to celebrate my birthday on 9th May. Friendly staff, we were given a nice table and quickly offered the menus. Entrees chosen were the seafood chowder and garlic bread, both tasty. Then onto the mains, 2 fish of the days of which ample fish on the plate but no vegetables other than the potatoes the fish sat upon, I did leave feedback suggesting that the waitress could have suggested a vege/salad to accompany the fish as we assumed veges would have been provided. The other main chosen was a lamb salad which was also very tasty. Desserts were a raspberry cheesecake which was very nice and the lemon roulade which was also declared good!! Apart from the wine list being a little limited and maybe slightly pricey at $10 a glass/$40 bottle we were very happy with our experience at Silverspoon Restaurant and will certainly return again. Also a lovely touch was my dessert being complimentary as it was my birthday. Thanks!
We visited Silverspoon Restaurant for my Mother's birthday having a large group of about 20 people. Silverspoon was fantastic with regular communication before the actual day to make the celebration run smoothly. We all had the choice from a set menu on the day and were all impressed with the quick service as the entree's came out. The scallops were the most popular & were very fresh and tasty. The mains were fantastic also followed by the desserts. Thank you Silverspoon for making the experience one to remember. We will definitely be back and compliments to the chef!
My wife and I enjoyed a fabulous meal with our son and his girlfriend while we were visiting them in Wellington, NZ. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our appetizer (squid rings). I had the lamb medallions with Asian noodle salad, my wife had smoked salmon and caper gnocchi in a cream and wine sauce. My son chose the steak with fries and his girlfriend the pork tenderloin served over mushroom rice cake with plum sauce. The meals were all served within a reasonable time and were imaginative in their presentation, the meats were tender and the sauces succulent. Everyone in our party was pleased with their selection from the menu. Wine pairings were great. The chocolate brownies and white chocolate cheese cake with raspberry coulis topped off one of our most memorable evenings of our three week tour of New Zealand. This restaurant is a little jewel and I have no hesitation recommending it.
We love going to Silverspoon Restaurant for birthdays, anniversaries or any other special occasions. I got given a voucher for Christmas and think it's the best gift ever.
We have never been disappointed. We've tried a variety of mains like the beef, chicken and fish.
The desserts are also amazing! Yummy lemon roulade and cheesecake....Mmmmmm.
The staff is always friendly and make you feel welcomed.
I recommend it to everyone.
Awesome food and service. The Xmas turkey was succulent. Waitress kept us informed of timing. Others at my table also enjoyed their meals. Well priced too. I've been her before and have never been disappointed.
Excellent service, great food. Loved the experience there. They have great prices and a very friendly atmosphere. If you are looking for a nice comfortable place to enjoy your dinner or lunch, this is the spot. You will love it.
I've come here for coffee several times and find it to have friendly staff, fairly quick service and a pretty good coffee at a reasonable price.
We were lucky enough to dine at Silver Spoon tonight and were very impressed. We have had brunch there before but never dinner. We were seated promptly and our drink orders taken, we were impressed with the wine list, not to many choices but the choices were good. Entree's were squid and scallops and were cooked to perfection. Mains were Scotch Fillet with fries and bacon wrapped mushrooms and bacon wrapped chicken with potatoes and wilted spinach. The steak was HUGE and cooked to perfection - it was a scotch so a little fat on it but you don't order a scotch if you want a lean steak. The chicken was moist and flavoursome as was the mushrooms and the potatoes. It was well worth every dollar paid and I will be returning for an evening meal.
Very good food and wine. Service was a bit off hand.
My family and I have visited Silver Spoon many times over the last few years, and we always love it! The food is amazing, and the service is fantastic. We love that the menu changes every few months to suit the season, so there's always something new to try! I would highly recommend the Silver Spoon to anyone looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion with friends, or to enjoy a special meal with a loved one. It's kinda like fine dining and silver service, but without the price tag! 10/10!
I love popping into the Silver Spoon for a lovely muffin and cuppa, I have also had lunch there a couple of times and highly recommend both the food and the service! A special little place tucked away in Silverstream, very worth visiting if you haven't.
Dinner at the Silverspoon last night was a spur of the moment thing, for a business directors meeting, however the staff looked after us very well. We both had the Scallop entree, and loved it. My steak was done perfectly.
We enjoyed the wine as well.
I felt it was great value, compared to the prices you'd pay in town, for example i reviewed a restaurant (From a high end hotel chain) during the week and their mains were $35 up, while the Silverspoons were all $30 to $35.
While not a fan of the change of decor since I was last in, I am a big fan of the service and the food.
We hadn't booked and they were fairly busy but found a table for us straight away. Service was real friendly, efficient & helpful. Our wine was not as cold as it should have been so they had no hesitation in changing it, suitably chilled this time.
The menu looked fantastic and it was a bit tricky trying to decide on our dinner options, however both my husban and I thoroughly enjoyed our scallop entree (that we shared), our mains and our dessert. Mine was the best creme brulee I have had in a long time!
It was a great evening out and we'll definitely be back, soon!
This restaurant is a favourite of ours. We discovered it through the entertainment book - fell in love with their scallops and venison. Always great service. Always great food. Would recommend to anyone.
TA quiet Friday night due to the rugby being on, so the place was a little lacking in a buzz, but that was about the only thing to detract. Smart service, and great food - we were a group of eight, and everyone was more than happy with their food.
Well done and recommend.
We dine here frequently and call in for coffee often. The service is always excellent and they cater for our year old grandaughters marvellously! We have travelled the world and one particular fish meal was the most exquisitely delicious meal of its type i have ever had!! A great place to spend time at.
