Bruh this place is unreal, had a Boston creme donut that was filled to the bring with cream and a super fluffy donut as well as a slice of peanut butter pie that was delicious, which absolutely ruins sweet mamas kitchen PB pie
I'm all sixes and sevens about Sixes & Sevens. I want to give this wee hidey hole a 5 because my PT raves over it and visits every day but I just can't. Solid 4 it is.
First off, the place is cute. It's kind of shabby chic but not. I can't work out the look they're going for (homely?), but it works.
The staff are lovely, albeit a bit cramped in the limited behind counter space. Yes, the whole place is small so I wouldn't plan of taking your extended family here for brunch.
The food cabinet selection is pretty extensive. They seem to specialize in donuts and sweet goodness but they also have brunch things like the breakfast burrito.
Now, this is where I am conflicted. I have eaten a GF slice from here and it was good but this mornings visit was at 8am.... bit too early for cake... and there were no brekkie treats I could sink my GF teeth into. The aforementioned PT had the Burrito which he says is delicious...egg, bacon and hashbrown goodness. For $8.90, it was huge so worth it.
The coffee is good. PT reckons it is the beat in the City. I beg to differ but it is solid. Smooth, creamy and the cups are unique. Yes, they go towards the rating too.
So, how do I get the 4? Solid coffee, lovely staff, great decor, the memory of a great slice and my PTs word re the Burrito.
This little cafe has some of the best - cakes, donuts, savouries around taranaki street. The Service was great, prices are reasonable, it’s small & cosy. Had a delish hot choc and a triple choc Whitaker’s cake - will def be back when I want a treat.
One of my go to places. Love their food especially their pies and donuts! Also make really good coffee. I wish the place had a bit more space and less crowded. Highly recommended!
So many delicious looking doughnuts! Allergy friendly cabinet options too which was good. Reasonably priced. Lots of yummy smoothie options too. Would recommend.
Great tasting quick and easy food. Consistently good coffee and customer service. You have to get in early to get a seat. Otherwise it's easy to take the food away and sit out on Courtney place instead.
Oh my this is a deliciously dangerous place. If you go for lunch it's going to be bad! The coffee is not too strong, and hot. The food is amazing! Salads, paninis, pies, sandwiches, cake, lamington and donuts all look decadent. I had a soba salad, which made me violently ill, but I was sick at the time so it may not have been their food.. Only negative - some food is uncovered, and just below eye level, which could create hygiene issues from passing customers.
😃 it's been a while since I began my reviews with a smile!
Today I tried one of their Apple and caramel donuts. WIN! Absolutely heavenly. It was jam packed with caramel cream and apple goodness. (see photo)
Their bacon n egg bun with hollandaise are also amazing. How they manage to keep the yolks runny after toasting the bun is beyond me.
Whilst I was dining in, I overheard a woman exclaim she was off men and would marry their biscuits if she could... I am guessing their other sweet treats are just as exhilarating!
Thanks for making my post exam feed wonderful. Sixes n Sevens, you get a 5/5 from me!!!
One of the best donuts in the city! And with all of those options, what not to love?? Their staff is super friendly too which is a great bonus
I heard about the donuts from here and made a trip. They're good. Recommended.
While there I noticed the food and popped back another day to grab lunch.
I decided on a $10.00 salad (the medium size) and asked for half and half. I got the slaw and the soba noodles. It's a good portion too.
I noticed a vegan chocolate slice but resisted, (another day). It looked rich and delicious.
Staff super friendly and helpful.
Back at the office I tucked in. The slaw was good but I wish I'd gone for a full portion of soba as it was delicious.
I'll definitely pop back and they're now on my go to for lunch options.
This place is unique in my experience. A great staff. Make me coffee every day. The food is baked with care , imagination and skill.
This place is about surprising your self with well made interesting food.
The steak and mushroom pie is great. The scones are stunning.
My vege friend assured me the salads verge on orgasmic
Found Sixes and Sevens today and I absolutely LOVED it! So much variety for food choices and drink choices, the amount of smoothie flavours is insane! Purchased a peanut butter and oat slice and a blueberry smoothie, and it was honestly so delicious. Super friendly staff and don't have to wait long at all! Small but cozy space and seemed really popular. Would definitely go again and again!
Never fails to impress. Perfect location. Delicious rich hot chocolate and yummy food. Sometimes the barista will go extra quick so I can catch the bus in time :) one of my faves !
Recommended for coffee, cabinet food and the doughnuts.
This Cuban themed little cafe took its fit-out from the previous incarnation of mucho mucho, but its offerings are rather better.
Reasonably cute pale blue and apricot walls, lead lights, Cuban mural in line with Havana coffee.
Excellent cabinet food - an interesting range of slices and filled rolls (with a range of breads), quiche, pies and some good looking doughnuts.
I ordered tea and a scone , my partner a trim cap.
The well made loose leaf tea had good colour, pleasant flavour and good body. I gave it 15/30 (well behind Milk Crate round the corner) and would suggest 1. Ask whether the person wants milk and what sort, 2. Have a range of black teas (Assam at least), 3. Warm the cup, and perhaps add a smidgen more tea to the pot.
Coffee good and scone excellent.
With delightful service, excellent quality cabinet food and well made coffee, I'd recommend this little place as an interesting alternative to the traditionally stellar cafes that are within (almost) a stones throw. The doughnuts are delicious.
I feel like I've stepped in to a fantasy world when I come here. I literally did not know how delicious sweet treats could be - and the range?! How are you meant to pick?! If you're visiting Wellington you need to do yourself this favour and come get a snack. Or ten. Mean coffee too.
Nice refreshment spot for quick recharge. Coffee, chocolate cake and cheese scone was really good. Service also good.
The staff are super friendly and had helped when I got stuck in another cafe down the road.
I popped in to say thank you and also grabbed a savoury scone. The scone was so good, better than the others I had in Wellington so will definitely be buying more when I come back.
They also have a range of donuts as well as vegan friendly donuts which I’ll need to try next time.
Wow! I visited Sixes and Sevens this morning to try a couple of their donuts because I had heard amazing things, and my expectations were blown away. The lemon donut in particular was so delicious, definitely one of the best donuts I have ever had. The service I got from the lovely person working was super friendly! I will 100% be going back to try some more of what they have to offer.
Went for a quick bite. Had a lemon cream donut which was light and fluffy. Coffee was nice too just a bit of wait. They also have good selection of cabinet food if you want something savoury- sandwiches, pies, quiches. Cute little place for coffee catch ups in town.
Such a cute little cafe and they have a good selection of food. We got a donut and lamington 😍 the staff were so lovely and friendly we will definitely be back when we’re in wellington again 🤍
An absolute stable of Wellington cafe culture, the staff are always amazing and you’re guaranteed to find something that’ll satisfy your cravings in the cabinet. They always have a good range of sweet, savoury, vegan and gluten free snacks. The filled donuts and lamingtons are a must try!
Delicious donuts! They have a great range of flavours you can choose from. One of the best in Wellington 😊
Not a bad little place for coffee and baked goods. Pastries are better than their coffee.
Best cabinet food in Welly, their bread is so fresh and light you can definitely tell It’s baked fresh daily. Their pastry foods are always amazing as well. You must try a donut, the flavours change all the time and I’ve loved every single one I’ve tasted. Their coffee is also amazing. The staff are always lovely and welcoming so makes dinning here even better.
