This place makes amazing pizza, and they also have really great service. Everytime I have gone to Sal's restaurants, it's always been awesome. Keep up the great work.
We had the half Brooklyn pizza and some garlic knots
The pizza was very tasty and I wish we had more garlic knots
Service was great and we’ll definitely be back for more
I love Sal’s, it’s probably the most decent pizza around in Wellington.
I love their garlic knots! They’re totally delicious.
The service here is great too.
3rd March:
I love the food here, it never fails. We had the half and half; pepperoni and vege. I usually get garlic knots too because I am a sucker for everything garlic but unfortunately they weren't available (odd seeming it was 6.30pm on a Saturday)
The only thing that let down this experience was the lack of organisation from the staff. Don't get me wrong, i don't know what happens behind the scene. But firstly, there were no glasses for our sprite, that's fine, we asked the guy if he could bring us a couple when they were ready. But unfortunately he forgot. I just asked again then got them. Then next, none of the parmesan shakers in the resturant were full, I asked them to fill mine and he did it right away. The worker then came over to us and asked to 'borrow' our tables shaker. We assumed he would bring it back but he never did.
Average customer service experience but all in all I still love the place!
Must try the pizza’s!!! Loved it .. also available in single slices , can also make it half and half pizza and also the biggest pizza 18’’ inch .. definitely would recommend people to visit Cuba street for sal’s pizza.
I love sals! I haven't got a full pizza yet but I look forward to the day I do. I like it better than tommy millions because the crust is not as crispy. It is a good mixture of crusty and soft. I love getting the veggie with mushrooms however it says on the menu that it comes with capsicum but the capsicum has been inconsistent sometimes it comes with it most of the time it doesn't. I think you have to ask for it but if you have to ask for it why don't you put that on the menu? I'm also not a huge fan of the mozzarella sticks, they're good when they're fresh but once they get cold they're kinda gross. I also think the garlic knots have really improved they used to burn the shit out of them but now they're soft and doughy and delish.
A couple of weeks ago I was participating in the 48hour film festival. One of the team popped out for food and came back with Sals pizza.
I ate the cheese and tomato pizza and thoroughly enjoyed it. Authentic tomato flavour and an abundance of cheese. Very satisfying.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and I was out for dinner and wanted to try Sals again. We sat in and ordered a half and half of the cheese and the staton island with cheese.
I like the decor here. Feels American in that 'it looks like the places in sitcoms' but it's cool and like it regardless of whether it's authentic.
Pizza took 10mins. You're advised to leave it stand for 3 or 4 mins before wasting. Given the steam coming off it that's a good call.
I must admit the cheese pizza seemed a bit nicer the first time I had it but just a bit. Still really enjoyable. The veggie half was a nice contrast and again very tasty.
I like that they have oregano and chilli shakers on the table.
We really enjoyed the pizza. One 18 inch satisfied both myself and my partner and left me three slices for lunch the next day. Score.
I also had a panhead beer. All up it cost $35.
Had a nice pepperoni new york pizza here which had a unique flavour that you wouldn't find at somewhere like dominoes. What stole the show were the garlic knots, they were awesome! However, pricing was a little steep.
I love Sal's and am thrilled it's finally here in Wellington. TBH I like Sal's a lot more than Tommy Millions but I could be accused of being biased as I'm from Auckland...My husband and I came here the first or second week (n/s) of their opening, and the place was pumping. A very busy lunch. We got a booth and enjoyed nice cold beers, garlic knots, and a delicious mammoth pizza (whole) . We spent just under $50. Well worth it. Timings were appropriate for food arrival given it was so busy. Service was super friendly even under the pump. I liked watching hockey on the monitor, always a thrill to watch men with blunt sticks and beards skate around while I knock back a beer haha -just kidding. Def will be back.
Got a pizza to takeaway last night because it looked pretty busy inside. It tasted alright and was quite big but I'm not sure if I would buy again.
As a New Yorker I don’t have a lot of options in Wellington, but Sal’s —also an ex-pat New Yorker— brings a pretty solid pie to the city. Best eaten when fresh. Order entire pies to eat-in or to-go for the best quality.

Classic and really authentic New York Italian Pizza. I enjoyed the beautiful cuisine as a Italian restaurant experience. The interior design was fantastic and also was the staff friendly and helpful. The shop was clean and tidy. I really recommend this place for a visit. Cheers
Very authentic NY style pizza, a little wait but the taste was rich and portions huge. Atmosphere is relaxed and ample seating for families or on your own.
You in Welly and want the best New York pizza? Sal’s is the place to go. Service is not perfect and often shabby, but you can forgive that for the great pizza and the NYC vibe. I love the buffalo chicken pizza, pepperoni and the classic cheese. Love the chicken wings with buffalo sauce too.
Sals pizza : made my tummy full
We come across to this place.
Looking for some dinner
And i like the thin crust pizza anyway.
Love to eat and be back on my next visit
Went in to Sals with a hungry team of dancers after a big competition. Was a bit tricky getting ourselves seated after calling ahead to make sure they could accommodate our big group, but managed to snag some tables.
The wings were a big hit with the adults and the mozzarella sticks were the fave of the kids. The pizzas are huge. The chicken pizza was delicious, I didn't taste the pepperoni but most said it was a bit oily.
The consensus was the wings will be worth braving the busy street it is on in Christchurch to get them again when we go home.
Thanks for letting our squealy kids wind down and enjoy some time together.
Yet to find something on the menu we don't love here. The garlic knots are ah-may-zing! Make sure you order lots, you will fight over them and want more than one. Such a novelty the way they serve pizza. Kids were a bit unsure of the basil on the pizza but realised that's partly what makes it so delicious, haha! Bit pricey compared to Dominis or Pizza Hut and it can get busy but it is well worth planning ahead and stopping for lunch or dinner as a special treat!
I never thought a vegetable pizza could taste so good. Bravo! I had pepperoni in New York before and although I did not try the pepperoni at Sal's the place looks and feels like an authentic NYC establishment. Staff were polite and service fast. The pizza is delivered so hot that it needs time to rest. And as I said, my pizza tasted good. We were a party of 5 and all left satisfied. The large screen monitors had baseball showing. I'll be back.
Place was alright. We ordered two pizzas a pepperoni and a cheese pizza. I could barely taste the pepperoni on the pepperoni pizza. Would be nice if they had some glass plates instead of giving paper plates to the customers. Overall a good and fast service.
Great pizza
Great place
I don't like pizza but ate Sal's
Definitely place to go for pizza
