Excellent food, our favorite mains are Aloo Baingan (not common at other restaurants) and Butter Paneer. Their chef makes the best Indian sweets in the Wellington region too, they are always fresh! Very friendly staff and an excellent rewards program.

Dined with some friends and bought a lot of food. I had a Medium Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan and a Mango Lassi. I also tried some of the butter chicken.
All of the curry dishes were full of flavour. Absolutely delicious!
The Mango Lassi is like a yogurt and mango based smoothie. It was very tasty and sweet, complimenting the meal quite well.
The staff were friendly and helpful when we had questions while ordering. The interior was quite nice and the seating(booth) was quite comfortable.
Also they deliver via Deliver Easy!
Highly recommended and look forward to going back.

We had 14 for dinner with 3 small children. We got the vegetarian banquet for 5 and meat banquet for 5. There was so much food and it was all delicious. We did need to ask for rice but I think there was so much food and lost in the volume but it came straight away. We took home our leftovers as there was so much and they were great about that. Great evening.
We order from here at least once a month as it is the best Indian restaurant we have found! Generous portions, delicious and tasty! We love thr fusion menu of Indo-Chinese too!

I was in Lower Hutt for a few days last week, having arrived from Melbourne to visit a sick friend. It was late on Tuesday evening and also pouring with rain. I went in to Little India after 10pm and was informed the chef's had left for the night. I walked out wondering where to find some food at that time. A staff member came out to see me and insisted I take his dinner. He would not take no for an answer and I was grateful for his offer. The dinner was a vegetable curry and naans and not only was I blown away by this act of kindness but also the food was superb. Thank you from a weary traveller.

What a delight! Apart from the consistently excellent food this restaurant is totally unique in the staff culture and a friendly working atmosphere that is clearly visible. It is a testament to the manager who empowers his staff allowing them to simply be themselves whilst still upholding a high standard of service. This is rare! In particular we would like to thank Rajbir who is not only superbly competent in the ingredients and flavours of the menu but also the history of the dishes. Add to that her personality and charm this was an absolute pleasure to dine here. Meeting Gopal and the other chefs and seeing their enthusiasm for food was also fantastic! Well done team! Amazing experience at this restaurent . We had the best dosa ever by chef Gopal in wellington . Very professional and so tasty we have been there twice after that and the service is also really good. Chef Gopal makes the best dosas we all love it.
Food was really very good and service was excellent, particularly from Rajbir who was exceptional.
Everything was as described on the menu but the added bit of repartee at the table about our evening added significantly to our experience.

The best vegetarian Indian food i have had in Wellington. The Butter Paneer was sublime! it has always been good but a new chef Gopal , Chandra Mandal has taken the place to another level of excellence and deliciousness.
Food is great for vegetarians. I am vegetarian but my co guests say that the meat dishes were not the best. Although flavours were there the chicken and lamb was tough and very chewy. Service could be better.
For some time I've been planning to try Little India restaurant in Lower Hutt and tonight I finally went with my family. We were very pleased with the experience. Food was delicious, the service was fast and professional with friendly staff advising us on portion size and taste. There is a variety of dishes for everybody's taste. We ordered half tandoori chicken, one type of chicken carry, soem starters and nanns. We also tried one of the deserts prepared by cheff Gopal , not sure about the desserts name kaj pan or simillar, and it was just the righ thing to finish this delicious dinnner with. I am happy to come here again.
I went here today at Lunch for a friends birthday, I ordered the Butter Chicken and a Garlic Naan. The Garlic Naan was divine! But I was quite disappointed with the Butter Chicken as It was rather bland and flavourless. The order came fast which was a bonus and the staff were friendly.

Good quality curries and portion sizes were very generous. The staff is friendly and overall there was a good atmosphere. It's slightly on the pricier side in comparison to other Indian restaurants, but you are paying for the value of the dishes.

One of the Indian restaurant which I frequently visit due to their consistency. You will get the same quality in every Little India all over Wellington. Even though I am not a big fan of Butter Chicken myself but the Butter Chicken of Little India ticks all the boxes of a traditional authentic butter chicken which hasn't got any sugar or peanut powder in it. There are few standout dishes in the menu which are must try - Tandoori Mushroom, Malai Tikka(chicken) and Barra Kebab(Lamb) for starter, Chicken Saag(my all time favorite) and Bhuna Chicken for mains. Little India also stocks a good range of beer and wines from all over NZ.
Another great meal for the family at little India lower hutt. Shetala and his team are so friendly, always remember our order and go the extra mile to make sure we are enjoying our evening. Thumbs up to the cooks aswell as they always greet us with a wave and friendly smile. Best curry house in town and we have tried many but keep coming back here!
I came to the restaurant last night. I really love the warm welcome by the staff. The food was really awesome. Murg Mumtaz was really awesome. It was the best experience I had ever in a restaurant. I and couple of my colleagues from office went for lunch yesterday. Between six people, we were offered only two small bowls of rice which was barely enough for three people. We waited thinking at least one more similar bowl of rice should arrive along with the other order but it did not. There were two waitresses, and we asked a waitress with dark complexion (just so that the other waitress doesn't get in trouble as she was very nice & polite) and she, without any manners, rudely responded how much do you expect in a $9.90 lunch. We wont be going to this place again and my colleagues told to all in the office about the incident and I don't think they would like such an experience and thus they would choose another place rather. This place is out of our office's list of places to go on lunch break. And the curries were too good to rave about and was far from meeting the benchmark of value for money.
Little India is a great place for us to go with our young family for a fairly quick meal (that the kids love) or to relax with our Adult friends for a pleasant evening with great food. We love the fact that the curries are always served the same - so we never risk getting something we don't like. Also convenient for a quick takeaway - which always beats cooking!!

My daughter got me a takeaway meal the other evening, the food was brilliant, the best Indian meal I have had in years. I will now be visiting this one everytime and will also be visiting for a sit down meal too.

Me and a few colleagues dine here for lunch fairly regularly and have been doing so for the last year or two. The food is always superb as is the service. Anita knows most of our orders 'by heart' and writes nothing down. Very impressive and has yet to get it wrong. Great range of food on offer.

we have been going here very regularly (mostly every week) over many years and still never had a bad curry. have tried most things on the menu but now stick to the good old favourites. The staff are very welcoming, know our orders by heart, and the booths with the soft seats offer a lovely intimate and comfortable setting. I would highly recommend this restaurant and it's always a first choice for us when we have guests. Well done Little India Lower Hutt!
One of my fav restaurants out of the Little India's in Wellies! I love Little India, overall, for their super tasty & authentic feeling food (including deserts) but I especially love Lower Hutt for the actual restaurant. It's really modern & has a fun vibe in the area. It's usually packed when I come in (so may be a good idea to allow time if you're in a rush, or have a drink at the bar like I do;) but I feels it ads to the vibe & atmosphere - I think it's 1 of the 'cooler' spots in LH, especially for an Indian restaurant! I would suggest this location for a get together - I had a celebratory dinner there the other night! :)
Different flavours to other Indian restaurants we have eaten at - more of that home-cooked rather than "restaurant" feeling about them- and still easy to have each dish cooked to our particular preference level of spiciness. Should probably eat there more often, but it's one of those 'special occasion" places for us.
Great staff - just the right amount of attention to us as customers without being there too much, right from the welcome, through choosing the dishes the way we want them without ruining the flavours that make them special, to checking the dishes live up to their promise.
This is the place for the genuine Indian. Fresh and spicy ingredients, ordered to taste, and good friendly service. A great place for a family get-together with plenty of space.
For last 6 years my family and my self have enjoyed the food, the service at Little India. We have tried all the curries cooked in a very unique style and all of them tastes so good that it is hard to pick the best, so you have to try all to believe it over a period of time as the taste never changes.
The tandoori roti is our favourite which is always fresh with a very balanced crispy and softness. As the foods is tasty so is the service of the staffs.
I even use the restaurant for my business lunches and dinner.
This is our usual haunt when we want to go out for a nice meal in Lower Hutt. I've tried most of the mains on the menu and the food is always delicious, the staff are pleasant, and the prices are tremendously good value. Unlike other reviewers, we've not found the wait times overly long, though it can vary.

One of my favourite restaurants in the area. I just recently spent my birthday there (the second time I've done so) and it was another fantastic dining experience. The food is always absolutely stunning here. So freshly cooked and the curries are garnished beautifully. The Chicken Jalfrezi is my favourite from this place. It's the nicest quality Indian around - not the cheapest, but the prices reflect the high quality of food.
We had an excellent meal at Little India a couple of weekends ago. We ordered kadai chicken and lamb pasanda with plain and garlic naan. The meat was really tender and the sauces tasted delicious with a medium-hot bite. The restaurant environment was warm and cosy; even as the tables started filling up, the noise level was acceptable. Our service was very efficient and our meals were served quickly. We'd happily eat at Little India again.
The other day I found my intended source of takeaway was closed for the recent public holiday. Indian food was on my mind so I journeyed slightly further afield to this Little India location. I was not disappointed in Little India which continues to provide good, dependable and tasty Indian food to us denizens of Lower Hutt.
My wife and I much enjoyed the lamb cutlets tandoori style.
As has been the case in the past we enjoyed our meal. This restaurant continues to be well patronised, both for eat in and takeaway. Food is tasty, service efficient and price is OK
We arrived without a booking and were welcomed with a friendly polite and professional staff member. I went there looking forward to my favourite authentic street food…Raj Kachori and boy it did not disappoint!! What stunning flavours and textures. Then came the Bengali Fish with all its glory!! I will be back along with my wife and mother in law. Then to top things off the restaurant and toilet facilities were spotlessly clean.
Great spot in the hutt for a warm hearty dinner. Service is great and food comes out quickly.
This time we opted for a couple of starters including the vegetarian mixed platter as well as a couple of curries and nann breads to share. Great flavours all around!

I visited this restaurant for lunch on a week-day, while in the area.
The place is quite large, but was empty when I arrived. I asked whether they offer a 'thali' , to which they said yes. The good thing is that I could choose one curry from a long list. They also offered a choice between naan and roti, I chose the latter.
The food arrived quickly. It was well presented, enough in quantity and delicious. The pricing was reasonable too, at $15.90.
All in all, a satisfying lunch experience. I will be happy to visit again, and to recommend this place to others.
Before I left, there were other customers in the restaurant, as well as a few takeaway orders.
This is a great restaurant, food is delicious and service is great, plenty of seating. Menu seems to have a big variety but I normally stick to the Rogan Josh curry, it's become a favourite, can be noisy when busy but adds to the atmosphere. Staff have been excellent with our kids, recommended
