Spectacular bar with an epic range of New Zealand Craft beers! El Culo del Mundo is a great refresh of this Mt Vic site with an interior design reminiscent of some out-of-the-way Oaxaca bistro. The space is big enough for large groups, but books and crannies ensure you have a sense of intimacy and privacy. Sunday afternoons offer up a small crowd of easy-going, beer afficianados. The wine range is excellent, leaving kiwi drops to others, the eclectic choice of northern hemisphere wines will introduce your palette to new and robust tastes. The beer range is even better with twenty or so kegs on tap that rotate as soon as the keg is empty. Enjoy a local Heyday tamarind gose or Maiden multiverse passion fruit sour ale as easily as calling on a Sawmill Pale Ale or North End’s Table de Brasseur Belgian beer. Also, el Culo del Mundo is one of the few spots I’ve seen a North End brewery hand pump available for our more British ale drinkers. If all that doesn’t appeal, they make a mean pisqao sour! The food matches up to the thought of the alcohol offerings! Focus on making everything in house, the Chef has set their menu to gluten-free by default with a 50/50 split of vegetarian and meat options. Vegans will be pleased with choice from chilli corn, or mushroom tacos. The guacamole is excellent and served atop delicious home made corn chips, while the home-made chorizo tacos are brilliantly spicy amidst soft and light tortillas. The cerviche also proves a popular choice! The staff get a special mention for being excellently easy-going, finding an easy balance between being attentive and keeping any social pressure off. Awesomely, they’re all intimately well-verses in the food and drink should you need advice. Go here for an excellent bar environment, and enjoy tasting superb drinks and even better Mexican food!

Delicious and authentic Mexican food. Even the grasshoppers were yummy. They were crispy and no off flavour. Good range of beer you can choose from.

Had an amazing experience at The bottom of the World! The guac and chips were amazing. In most cases, the guacamole is the main event, but at El Culo the chips are cooked fresh for every dish ordered and it takes the flavour to another level. The tacos and cocktails would normally need to be raved and recommended too, but the guacamole and chips just beat everything hands down. Just visit and see what I'm taking about.

It was out first time and it was brilliant. Bone marrow - delicious. We devoured the lamb cutlets The pork carnitas taco was tasty, and the beef cheek one according to the partner was better. You’ll have to try them both. And it is all gluten free unless otherwise marked. Get in!

I really enjoyed this place, it's a bit dark blue inside but that's just due to the lack of natural light which isn't their fault. The chicken taco with the fresh pineapple was so good. Really fresh ingredients and all hand made. I loved the handmade tortillas. The homemade sauces are also really tasty! A great selection of beers here too! I would have loved to try more of the food because the menu looks amazing!

In my personal experience I loved this place, the grilled bone marrow and the slow coked ox tongue taco were amazing, and I say this as a Mexican, amazing flavour, so soft and delicious, the beer was good too, the staff is friendly. This place should be in your list.

I went with a group friends. It has nice casual environment, the staff was very friendly and the place has very good vibes. We ordered some nachos with guacamole, veggie tacos and chicken tacos. We loved the presentation and they were was delicious, I would say though that I found the portions slightly small.

This is by far my favorite bar in Wellington. The cocktails are great, and so is the food. So happy to have found a place that serves mezcal and good Mexican food.

Wow, delicious food can be found at El Cudo Del Mundo. Entering you are treated to a warm Latin American deco, with large tables for group as well as small tables for couples. Service is great and very knowledgeable of the menu. Great selection of food, we went for the ox tongue tacos with salsa Verde, fried chicken tacos with jalapeno salsa and guacamole. The tacos were delicious and balanced with enough heat. The guacamole was generous and tasty with crisp handmade tortillas. Definitely worth a visit, I'm looking forward to my next visit

Went with a group for cocktails and snacks. Our waitress was awesome! 10/10 customer service. The tortilla chips were the star of the show, so fresh and tasty. Rest of the food was wonderful too. Cocktails were delicious. The whole experience was fantastic and we'll definitely be back!

The atmosphere was great, the decor very cool and the food was bloody delicious. The waitress staff could've been a bit more friendly and what was really disappointing was that they kept running out of food items on the menu. The wine menu only has 3 options and only 1 dessert option. But I must say it was the best, freshest and most tastiest Mexican food that I've ever had. I'd definitely go back again. Highly recommend their guacomole and tortilla chips, lamb cutlets with fresh mint sauce, plus the pork taco. The flavours in all the food were sensational.

We were a large group of 15, mid week and this place rocked. Set menu and the food was stunning. Not one dish disappointed and man it just seemed like it just kept rolling out. No one left hungry. BUT it was the quality, freshness, taste and those ‘bit different taco ingredients’ that stood out. Was really relaxed, social atmosphere that was easy for everyone to mix and mingle. SUPERB staff to boot and great bar. You will not regret at all.

I haven't been here in a while and wow the food is good! The tortillas are handmade in house and you can really notice the difference. So soft and flavourful. The pork fat potatoes were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside with a zesty, salty seasoning. The French people in our group absolutely lost it over the bone marrow. Everything is gluten free (GF) except for a few items. The staff were super attentive with us all night. We had a great time and will definitely come back.

Great atmosphere and excellent range of authentic Mexican small plates. The range of tacos was varied and delicious with a good range of vegetarian options if that's your fancy. Managed to time the visit with this year's WOAP cocktail offering which was definitely worthwhile

The food here is incredible, have been here twice in the last two weeks. Some of the highlights were the beef cheek/ox tongue tacos and pig fat potatoes, everything else has been delicious too. The actual tortillas used in the tacos are fantastic which is rare. Great tap beer selection and looks like the menu changes regularly. Staff are really friendly.
