Decent cheap eat. Didn't mind their wonton dish, broth was a little on the salty side but OK!
Also had the roti chanai, roti was a bit sweet for me, but a good dish over all.
Have dined in and had their cha kway teow. This place gets busy around lunch and dinner so if you haven't booked, I'd recommend you go outside these times.
Amazing, Fresh, Hearty Comfort Food. Great Service. Relaxed, Friendly, Vibrant Atmosphere. Will Most Definitely Be Back Again. Fantastic!!! A+++
Nice food and quick service.
The price is decent and big portions compared to other restaurants. They also have BYO service so it would be great to have a nice dinner in weekdays.
A good little efficient place with a good selection of dishes. A bit combo of Thai and Vietnamese dishes. Good quality is good for the price and BYO is a big bonus. I also like it that they don’t have large tables so there won’t be large party tables that may be drunk and loud half way of their dinner.
What's not to like about this place? It's BYO, theres a large menu, huge serves and small prices. My partner orderes fish cakes. They were overly processed and gross. Then he had spicy Singaporean noodles with pork. It was delicious. I had the Pad Thai without shrimp. I like strong flavours and it lacked flavour for me. I took a doggy bag, split it into two and got three meals out of it. All in all a good cheap and cheerful - order the right meal for a great feed, BYO, cozy. Cost $40 for 1 enter, 2 mains and corkage. Could improve atmosphere with some background music. Not child friendly.
The soups from here are awesome. And this pace is really well priced considering it's right in the city. Huge portions, friendly service. Definitely recommend
Very nice, would 100% recommend the roti chanai. The service is very friendly and it's got a good vibe. I really like the effeminacy and it has some very good cheaper options for a Quik meal on the run. Allow at least ten minutes for your meal.
One of my favourite restaurants - cheap and cheerful with amazing food. Also BYO. My favourites are the pan fried dumplings (best I've ever had) and the mee goreng. Big portion sizes too. I'd recommend for a casual night out.
The food is great here, large selection of menu items and quick serving, very reasonable prices, one menu for lunch/dinner. Favourite option would be the Pad Thai or Nasi Goreng but I can recommend most of the menu as I come here all the time.
I was catching up with my old boss for lunch and we wanted to meet somewhere in the middle. She mentioned Asian Kitchen. I'd never been. We sat in. It's very popular/busy and a touch on the noisy side. The menu is good. I ordered the Spicy Won Tons. $12.00
Food only took a few minutes to come out.
This was my type of dish. Plenty of wontons with juicy pork and loads of flavour. Nice kick of spice too. Really hit the mark.
I've been back since and ordered the same dish takeaway. My workmates were envious. It's a big meal but worth the afternoon carb attack.
Next visit is imminent!
Our family has dined here for years. A group of us meet up here Wednesday lunch time and you will often find it hard to get a table. Laksa has to be the best in Wellington and Wonton Noodle Soup not to far behind. So many great dishes and even our kids love eating here. The owners are great, some of the new workers need a but of help as to not get our orders wrong but a lovely cheap eat restaurant.
Quite a cute little place! A group of us were looking for a cheap byo on a Friday night and stumbled upon Asian kitchen by accident. But it was a very pleasant experience. Whilst my friends went for the standard mee goreng I tried something a bit different and ordered the Burmese curry. It could have been a bit hotter but aside from that I really enjoyed it. Along with corkage I only paid $16.80 so I definitely recommend this for a cheap bite.
My favorite Pad Thai takeaway in Wellington. Good meat ratio, portion size and price. Love the sweet flavor. Always find myself coming back here!
Went here for a byo with a good group of friends a couple of weeks ago and it was good. The corkage is only $3 which is a welcoming change to some of the ridiculous prices charged around Te Aro for corkage.
I got the spicy wonton noodle soup which wasn't actually very spicy at all, pretty acidic to be honest. Bit too much vinegar me thinks. But it was still nice and everyone else really enjoyed their dishes and said they was a good amount of spice. The dishes were a good size and reasonably priced. Staff were very attentive and polite and the food came out quickly. If your looking for a more intimate place to go for a byo Asian Kitchen is a good choice. Will be back at some stage.
9 of us went here for byo. I had the Assam vegetables with chicken and loved it. Had lots of flavour! Also was very good price and corkage was only $3. Would definitely come back to try more of the dishes!
Have had a few dinner parties here and we have worked our way through maybe 50% of the menu. Nothing bad to say about the food, only good. The Mee Goreng and Laksa is (and believe me we searched for years) as close as you can get to the old Wakefield Markets asian stall that used to be in there. Beautiful food, could do with a slightly bigger venue as its a bit cramped, service could have done with a smile or two but hey, good food is good food.
Cheap and cheerful restaurant that doesn't have one set style of food, hence the name. Don't come here expecting amazing food, but for the price it's a great boozey byo.
One of the lesser-known Asian restaurants in Wellington. This is probably my favourite cheap-eat place: it has byo, simple but intimate dining space, and a menu that features flavours from Southern China (the Hainanese chicken rice is amazing) right across Southeast Asia (your standard Thai and Malaysian dishes and even a Burmese curry). The best thing about Asian Kitchen is the price: most mains are less than $15. It is bang for buck.
I have searched high and low for the best laksa in Wellington since 89. Have tried most but I think this one might just take the cake as the best in Wellington. Had a green curry the other day and yep that was great too. Owner needs to develop a smile every now and again though.
Dear Asian Kitchen, I love you. Thanks for being the best asian in town, i've been round these parts for a good 14 years and tried most, if not all of the asian places and you are my fav. and immediately fell in love when i found you. You have the best and most delectable asian in town. Thanks. mmmm lemon chicken...
Value for money ratio you win hands down.
Goodbye KK Malasia, Hello Asian Kitchen.
I almost didn't want to write a review, for fear of this place becoming too popular to get a seat.
but, it has to be said- this place is amazing. the food is fantastic and very well priced.
it is the closest to authentic that i have found whilst not eating in a canteen environment as you usually compromise on atmosphere because places serve good authentic food - here you get both!
two entrees, two mains and corkage (BYO) for 55 bucks? i think so.
will be back again and again.
TRY THE LASKA- it is delicious, as is the Loc Lac.
A great menu selection for dine in or takeaway. Quite a small place but manages to easily accommodate quite a few people without it feeling cramped. Really tasty fresh food. The pancakes were something different for me to try and they were delicious - I recommend them. Friendly responsive customer service.
this is the best place to go! cheap, fast and amazing food.
the green thai curry is my fave but there is options for all.
i am a regular customer, it is so good id like to have my birthday dinner in store.
Just tried Asian Kitchen for the first time. What can I say; great cosy atmosphere, a range of authentic asian food, friendly service, and all at a reasonable price. A jewel of Wellington :). I will definitely be back.
OMG! Fabulous Beef & Black Bean.
Highly recommended. Small restaurant but well worth a visit
I go there whenever I am in Wellington city. They have the most delicious food. It's a very small place but the food is to die for. I went there on Tuesday and had my usual, chicken mee goreng, and my mum had roast pork chow kuay teow (sp?) DIVINE. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone (and I do).
Food and service is top notch. Price is normal. Location good. A bit rustic but that has its own charm too. What drew me in with our family was walking past and seeing the meals that diners had and could see they were very excellent. Business should make the inside and out lighter and brighter and a bit of a revamp and pictures of meals on window rather than just the menu. A picture says a thousand words! We will go out of our way to go back there.
My top choice around the 'golden mile' and Cuba area. The chef might prefer a bit more spicy style, but it's my cup of tea. Reasonable price, good location.
We had a table booking at Master Kong tonight. Went there ordered 4 dishes and left around 20 mins. The food there was so horrible and we had to pack all those food and left and look around for another place to eat for my daughter. We came to this place for a second meal and ordered a beef brisket with Rice.
The taste is very good, not salty like other Asian good place. The amount of meat is really generous. The prices is also very friendly.
Was hoping to go to a fancy restaurant with my daughter but this place is way better than those fancy looking restaurants. Highly recommended. A+++
Cheap and cheerful. Such good value for $. This wee restaurant never fails to deliver. The dishes are of a consistently high quality. The dishes are colourful and tasty. We had the Singapore Noodles and the stir-fry Pork Belly with leeks and celery, carrots, corgettes and capsicum. It packed a good chili punch.
Best bbq pork on top of the dishes, great portion sizes and so delicious! We had the Char Kwai Teow and the spicy wontons, both incredible 👌
Amazing food
Great severies🤍🤍
Awesome place. Has great food and a really good price. Proper, well cooked Asian food. Well worth the trip.
This food was so yum! Fantastic dining experience. Apologies to the Asian Kitchen in Florida (USA) who I accidentally gave a review without going there.
This is the REAL DEAL Asian kitchen. The proper definition of Deliciousness.
Look who dragged in the cat though (picture attached). Otherwise another FUN dining experience with TU MEKE flavour explosions 💥💥💥💥🤯🤤🤤🤤💯💯💯
I would love to give this place a 5 star review. The good: centrally located, large menu full of options (and vegetarian friendly... just ask for tofu), fair prices and fast service.
The cons: my food was a bit greasy (too much oil separating from the "sauce") almost hastily made, my partners roti was raw, and the attendant seemed annoyed that we showed up at 2 pm for lunch...the place closes at 2:30 so I dont know why there was an issue. If they dont want to serve new customers then they should list 2 pm.
**if you reach "late" for lunch then you can just go next door to the ramen place, they serve food till 3ish and have rice and noodle options.
Cafe feel, with excellent food. I enjoyed my Lemongrass Chilli Chicken.
If you are looking for good Asian food, this is the right place to go to. If you don't know what to order, just ask for crispy chicken.
Well this was a lovely wee find. Not a flashy restaurant- just a little quaint place with great food and friendly service. The furnishings aren’t flash - but they are clean and tidy and the prices are kept reasonable as a result😊
I am GF - the menu doesn’t state what is and what isn’t- but just ask they are happy to help.
I had VIETNAMESE PANCAKE
Crispy rice flour pancake filled with chicken, shrimp, bean sprouts, mint, shredded coconut, pineapple and onion. Served with homemade dipping sauce. YUM!
Never had this before but really hope I can find this option when I go home to Christchurch…
Simple decor but lovely inexpensive tasty food. Good size portions. Great value. Particularly enjoyed the Burmese lamb curry.
Popped in for a quick lunch, menu has a good variety of options. I went for the Sweet and Sour pork with rice, pretty good value for money.
The food was sooo good. And considering the price, this is one of the best value restaurants. Deep fried squid entree, chicken hainanese and beef green curry all fantastic. Very tidy and well presented premises. Very fast, friendly and efficient service.
We were going to go to Apache for dinner but it was booked out, so we found this place. Initially I was dubious because it was quite empty, but as it turned out we were lucky to be dining early, and it filled up quickly.
The menu is quite traditional asian, ie no fusion or anything, but the food was exceptional. Flavouful with generous portions.
I would definitely go back there.
Good food , friendly service and affordable price. Will come back for sure
A place we certainly visit every time in Wellington. Food is authentic, delicious with great prices. Strongly recommended!
