The food was delicious love the little side of pickled cucumber but one third of the pork chops was fat which I didn’t like so much. The oysters were great super juicy with the bit of lemon juice and the butter was salty though it went perfectly great together. I usually don’t eat raw oysters. But this was an interesting try.
A gem of the Wellington CBD, my friends and I have always considered it the top one restaurant in Wellington. Every dish is full of surprises. The way the beef, oysters and seafood are cooked reflects the wisdom of the chef. Great service. This is our third visit.
This food was CRAZY good
The lamb was probably the most delicious lamb I've ever had, my girlfriend isn't usually a fan of lamb and she loved it too
The chicken karaage was packed with flavour, super crispy, but still juicy. My only complaint would be not enough pickled daikon, it went so well with the intense seasoning on the chicken
The flounder was so so tender and delicate and YUMMY. Only needed a spoon to gently push it off the bones
They even had gluten free bread as an alternative to their homemade dinner roll
Almost everything on the menu is gluten free, and they were very confident about making it all coeliac safe
We couldn't finish all this, had to take some back to the hotel and have it for breakfast
Modern restaurant with great food. Came early on a Tuesday night and it was almost full by the time we had our mains.
Most of us enjoyed the smaller dishes more than the mains, but that is not to say that the mains weren’t great. Highwater Eatery is our first stop at wellington (and nz) and needless to say it has set the bar high! Notified restaurant prior that we’re bringing a one year old, were allocated a good spot with ample space for the pram but no highchair. The little one grizzled here and there but the restaurant was loud enough to cover her cries.
This was the best food I've had in Wellington! We had suuuuuuch an incredibly soft and juicy lamb dish 🐑 the staff were all lovely and the vibe was great, really relaxed and cosy. We booked our next visit before we even left the restaurant cause we wanted to take other people here that much

The second time around this restaurant.
It has a 5 🌟 service and food. They offer a perfect balance between very simply ingredients and kind of more exclusive ones, presenting a well thought and prepared plates. I loved how they take some simply ingredients like broccoli and elevate it. It seems to me some French influence but done in a layback kiwi style.
In terms of prices, they seem fair to me; it worth the money.
I would definitely recommend it.
For me this is by far the best restaurant in Wellington. Amazing food, with impecable sourcing of ingredients and cooking, one of the best natural wine selections and friendly, helpful (and handsome) service. My only wish is they'd change up the menu a bit more frequently, as I'm there with friends and clients almost every week!
Food was amazing, every dish was flavourful and delicious and would eat them over again. Efficient and friendly service, great ambience. Highly recommended.
Very thoughtfully curated wine list with the best offerings from NZ & International. Loved the menu & sincere, kind and friendly staff. Interior is modern, fresh and has a cool vibe.
Very nice lunch, amazingly flavourful. I also appreciated the impeccable service despite being a party of one. The only minor criticism is the wine list by the glass. With all the great wines available in New Zealand it would be nice to have more local choice.
This is a great place. Relaxed atmosphere offering excellent food. All dishes we had where perfect. And the service was without doubt one of the best I got in quite a while. This place is one to come back to for some more dishes to be tasted. The price range is on the high end and the portions are not the largest, but enough for my opinion.
Wonderful place lower Cuba street. The menu is designed to be shared with a variety of dish sizes on offer. Great list of wines and cocktails to go with the food. The food is exquisite, with bold flavour combinations that work!!! We didn’t have a dish that we wouldn’t order again.
Devine. I wish the Yuzu foam on the oysters came as a cocktail! Burratta & permission delicious. Every mouthful of the flounder was scrumptious! But I'd skip the cheese platter.
We had a terrific dinner for four here. The service, and the food were very good. The waitress was very efficient and helpful, explaining each dish when they were delivered. The team in the kitchen turned out some really nice plates of food, each one being well balanced, and of good combinations - the cauliflower and potato sides were truly inspirational.
Nice work to the team at HighWater!
I was recommended a fragrant drop of red wine after sampling two reds. A great, extensive wine list with exotic choices.
For dinner I chose the wagyu rump. The smoked beef fat thyme butter was a treat with the surprisingly lean, rare slices of beef. A steak knife would be better - unfortunately only butter knives were available.
Lovely ambiance, helpful staff and service. Would like to see more meat options on the menu, and I will return for more wine!
Walked past this little gem and was captured by the sophisticated design and contemporary decor. The menu didn’t look overly exciting but wow, their food is just excellent. We ordered two simple pastas and they were both very delicious. The fresh pasta, the rich wagyu ragu sauce, and the smoked butter sauce with plump perfectly cooked tuatua. Just great food.
I don't know how much traffic this place usually gets but it wasn't super busy when I was there at dinner. It definitely needs to be talked about more. The food is amazing.
It's tiers above most of the places in Wellington, and Auckland for that matter. Felt like something you'd get in Melbourne. Everything is cooked and presented so well, the flavour combinations are interesting and different. From what everyone I was with said about their drinks, it's a good menu.
The fish dishes were my favourite, especially the small Kingfish and large Flounder. The Lamb ribs were well cooked but a little bit bland without the lemon sauce. The beef, while juicy, was definitely not Wagyu as advertised, just like most places.
The place is a little bit higher priced than surrounding restaurants, but it's well worth going to experience the food.
