I LOVE mexican food and to have a mexican subway is awesome! It's super healthy (unless you're a cheese and sour cream fiend like moi) lots of salad, beans, vegetables and fillings of your choice e.g. mushrooms, vegetarian, beef, chicken blah blah blah and everything is so good! The salad is fresh, the food is hot, they even toast your nachos so the cheese is melted! The best thing is they're open super late on weekends until about 2/3am which is fab if you're not into chinese or a pie at that time. Will keep returning!
A decent place for a more than decent food! Even though the burrito was no special, the nachos were really good! The staff was a bit too quiet.. A definite yes for the food!
Great cheap place to go in the middle of Wellington. Also decent size plates of food. Full of flavour and nice spicy sauces!
Go for the pulled pork!
I tried this place the other day. I went here for lunch. I ordered beef tostada and my friend ordered quesadilla. Both dishes were good but the tostada was a bit pricey for the amount you get.
Really good prices for what you get- the quesadillas are really good and the meat is tender and juicy. The only downside is the salad they serve it with which isn't that fresh and is what I would call "dry" or old. My partner enjoyed his burrito even though the lettuce wasn't that great. Medium chilli sauce is a wee bit too spicy with mild having no spice at all. Definitely a good place hidden away.
OH HELLS YES! I recommend the chicken enchilada with the medium hot sauce! DAYAM!
The rice is a bit so-so, but the refried beans, enchilada, and the extra sauces are absolutely delicious! It's a generous serve and wont disappoint. Sauce lovers, this is the dish for you. At $12.50 you'd be mad to get your Mexican fix elsewhere.
How the hell did I not know about this place earlier? I was suggested Pachanga from a colleague of mine who sounds like she's a food crazy expert, that I just had to try it out. So I did, and now I will probably buy it every day.
No mucking around, great prices, great staff, BEST FOOD, the food was warm but I had a microwave at Work so no big deal.
For those who have small lunch breaks this is just perfect. As I said earlier I will probably visit this place every day it's open (and so far have been, on my half hour break). They are open late on Friday & Saturday, so if you're hitting the gym late after work or just having a night out, it's the perfect time to get another great meal to make sure you're meeting your calories for the day.
THANK YOU PACHANGA!
My family and I went to Pachanga on a Sunday lunch to celebrate my brother’s birthday.
The tables had a unique shape. I liked the overhead floral ornaments. It was our first time dining in there, so it was a little confusing on how ordering works; but the lady that served us was very friendly and was very helpful. She was also very fast and efficient as she did all our orders (8) and more, by herself.
Most of us, including myself, ordered the Pachanga, which seemed like a great dish to try as it sounds like the signature dish of the place. It looked like a Mexican version of the Turkish Iskender. The dish involved 2 fillings, 2 sides, tortilla, salsa, salad, and sour cream. There are 3 choices of meats for the fillings; chicken, which was in my opinion the best of the 3, as you can taste the different spices; pork, it was very rich with a spit-fired flavour; and beef, which was not as flavourful as the other 2. The 2 sides that I ordered were rice and beans; the fried rice was surprisingly tasty, I found it tastier than the rice normally on iskenders; and the beans tasted authentic and were not dry.
This dish was very filling.
Their Jarritos drinks are also worth a try, which is a Mexican flavoured soda. They have some unique flavours such as mango and tamarind.
Their Churros were great, I have only tried churros on weekend markets before, and theirs were better than any of those; although, in my opinion it could do with more chocolate sauce.
Overall, I would definitely come back here, and try different Mexican dishes, I recommend it to everyone. My brother was very satisfied and impressed of that lady that was by herself serving everyone, that he left a $20 tip.
Easily my favourite quick eat place.. There are always some good tunes playing, the staff are always really friendly and always happy to have a chat. Top quality food that should easily be some of the tastiest on Courtney place. Menu is a little sparse but what they do have they do well, with even a few authentic Mexican drinks to wash it down. Did I mention it's exceptionally well priced? :)
Pachanga is a great lunch or dinner option for uni students looking for a quick yet fairly affordable bite to eat. The flavours are fresh & flavourful.
I'm not an expert of mexican food but the beef burrito always taste good, nice ingredients and friendly staff. They also have a kind of mexican drinks called jarritos, good ones.
Tasty food!! Fresh ingredients, fast and awesome customer service and good prices. Best place to choose from after a night out. Hope this place is permanent on courtenay!
Finally Wellington has a reasonably priced, tasty real burrito !! Try it you will not regret it. Have had the carnitas (extra tasty pork), beef and veggie - all good.
Had the pork burrito it was yummy in my tummy and had some great service from the lady who served me. Will be back again (maybe at 4am!).
** NOTE: this restaurant offers MULTIPLE non-meat fillings for vegetarians. I don't know what the Veggie Mix is made of but it's amazing, and the Mushrooms are grilled on the spot and are outstanding. **
I've been looking for a proper Mexican-style restaurant in Wellington for years, and this restaurant is the first one that I feel fits everything I want and expect. The food is amazingly delicious, very affordable, and is prepared quickly (unlike some other Mexican takeout places where it can take up to 20 minutes just for a burrito), you can eat in surrounded by their surprisingly trendy and interesting decor or get takeaway, and while your experience may vary slightly based on what staff are there when you go by, the manager is one of the most exceptionally nice, friendly, and conscientious people I have ever met. I've never had a bad experience there.
I really can't stress enough what an amazing restaurant this is. The food is cheap, fast, and unbelievably delicious. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Wellington, and better than many places I've been in the USA. I really can't recommend it enough. If you haven't gotten from my review that the food is very, very, very good, please take a moment to let that sink in right now. Really good.
Excellente! FINALLY tasted Mexican food that reminded me of the Mexican food from home (southern California). The beef burrito was delicious, well priced, huge portion, and great service. Will be going back often :)
❤️❤️❤️ I am crazy in love with this place!!! The food is outstanding from the appearance to the taste!! Me and my flaties usually go to pachanga sometime throughout our weekend as a little flat outing!!! If you are yet to try ... definitely go out of your way to try this place!!
Love this place!! Service is great! Its super fast and friendly. The burritos here are to die for! Definitely would recommend this restaurant to anyone! My favourite burrito is chicken with some guacamole. If you get the chance to pop into this place you will not regret it. ????????????????
Cheap and choice! Staff are friendly and accommodated my request for extra extra cheese which is always important. Open late too, for a different option at the end of the night, sometimes kebabs don't quite cut it.
This is an amazing little restaurant that serves what is easily the best mexican food in Wellington, and for all I know, all of New Zealand. Prices are good, the ambiance is nice, the staff is super friendly, and the food, as mentioned, is amazing.
Don't get me wrong: It's "just" a fast food place; even if you opt to dine in you're getting paper plates and plastic forks. But for the cost, that's what you'd expect, and the food is fantastic. There's something like...6-7 different places within a short walk that server burritos, but Pachanga's burritos are much, much, better (and cheaper!).
I'd list some particular stand out menu items, but they're all good. Their chicken, mince, and mushroom fillings are fantastic; the burritos, enchiladas, and nachos are great. You can literally go in and order any combination off the menu and enjoy it. A word of advice though: Don't order your food "mexican spicy" unless you know what you're doing. Although if you do get in over your head, their pina colada "agua fresca" (essentially, fresh juice) will help you cool down.
In short: If you like mexican or latin american cuisine, you owe it to yourself to try this place.
