This place was awesome and we would go there again! Details of what we ordered below!
So we went with after a hurricanes match on Saturday evening. Four adults and a child. We had mango chicken (medium), chefs special (vegetarian and medium), paneer curry (mild) and dhal makhani (spicy). Also had some onion Bhaji, peshwari naan and poppadoms.
The order took about 15 minutes (which was really quick considering the size, but we were there quite late so kitchen might have been a bit quiet at that point). The naan is made in front in a metal tandoor and the kitchen is quite open.
Staff were really friendly - hurricanes had won so maybe that helped 😂 but they were really conversant and chatty.
The food was really authentic with nothing lacking in the spices and herbs. It was delicious and we definitely got more than our money’s worth.
The mango chicken was not too sweet, and it had massive pieces of chicken. Spicy option is definitely spicy - everyone thought so! Reader beware. Paneer was yum and there was plenty of cheesy goodness in there. Chefs special had lots of dhaal and different veges - my flatmate loved it.
In summary, this place looks like a small takeaway on the outside but packs a punch and is definitely worth a sit-in or takeaway! Perfect for an after match meal with friends or lazy weekday dinner :).
Update 30/8/20
Had takeaway - chefs special curry and Samosas ... soooo good! 5/5 :)
Ordered the dinner deal, with garlic naan and Lamb Vindaloo. Was a bit spicy but that's expected, good flavour and fed two people for $19.40 :)))
Fantastic food, great service and great value for money. Combination of quality and quantity. I highly recommend Green Chilli Indian Takeaway to people.
Awesome food 😊
Service is gr8
Asking for how spice you like and make exactly same 🖒keep it up Green Chilli really appreciated.
Try once you like it. Thanks for nice Chef special curry 🍜
Truly delicious! Hands down the best curry in Wellington. Highly recommend the saag paneer & chef’s special chicken curry. Also, lovely people.
My new go to! Their onion bhaji is the best in Wellington! Very friendly service and everything we’ve tried so far has been very tasty and well portioned.
The experience was wonderful the staff were friendly. Ordered the butter chicken it was creamy and the chicken was moist. The garlic naan was very good, and the place had generous portions. Easy on pocket too ! Definitely recommend.
Located at a prime location in Wellington. Very easily assessible to people living in Hataitainand surrounding areas. Amazing and superb quality food. They have variety of options available. If you want to eat vegetarian or non vegetarian both are available.
Superb quality of food. I would highly recommend you to go once and taste the food.
The thing which I really liked about this place is they provide a high quality of food, timely delivery and a customized taste as well according to your taste buds.
People are very friendly and they can even suggest you some good food options if you are not aware about what you need to have.
At the end I would say please do visit this place and enjoy the good food!
The food is so good. I tend to come a few times a month. They alway remember me and are so nice. They make their naans from scratch and they are absolutely delicious. The location is great. Plenty of vegetarian options too. I highly recommend. Best Indian takeaway in Wellington.
It’s been about 2 months since our last Green Chili takeaway - not sure if it’s because it’s been a while or because it was in fact better, but it was the best curry we’ve had in Welly. We got chicken tikka masala (not tandoori chicken, sadly), chef’s special chicken curry (yum!), lamb rogan josh & saag paneer (a bit too sweet for me). In the past, I’ve remembered the chicken being a bit dry & the naan being a bit floppy, but the curry itself being good enough to make up for that. This time everything was on point.
The food from this restaurant was so good that it made me emotional. It was brilliant when I got it last night, now for lunch it is everything I could ever need it to be, what a wonderful world that we get to share with Green Chilli food
Best Indian takeaway I’ve had in welly, tandoori mushrooms are a must have from here. Owner is always lovely
Best curry in wellington. Sent a few people here and they all agree. Naan is so good, fresh out of the tandoori oven!
Awesome food.I had chicken tikka was very yummy.didn’t had to wait for long.
Friendly staff.
From the moment I walked in I could tell these guys knew what they were doing. What gave it away? The aromas. Spices curated carefully as though they the installations resting upon the walls of MoMA. These aromas followed me into my car as I made my way home. Taunting, teasing me. It was when I arrived home to eat that what I suspected was confirmed. That this is a phenomenal restaurant.
Lovely food and the staff here is friendly too… It was a great experience 💯💯
I would love to recommend green chilli takeaway, hataitai for their tasty food and fast services. Being a vegetarian, i have few options for food. But In green chilli, i have tried palak paneer in my first order and it was so yum. Then onwards i tried all the different veg Curries from same place. To my surprise, the curries are tasty, flavorful and seems to be very fresh each time. I tried their naan as well, so yummy especially garlic and cheese naan ,also love the onion kulcha with lot of butter😋😋 Mango lassi awesome, go for it. 😋😋👍👍👍👍
Easily the best Indian food in Wellington, and the staff are always lovely! Definitely recommend the Vege Samosa and the Chicken Korma.
Very good customer service from the staff especially the front house team and the boss
So, first up, this place is one of my top goers for Indian takeaways.
The food overall has been pretty tasty and reasonably spiced to my liking.
I have tried a variety of the curries and some have been hit and miss however as they were either too sweet or a tad too runny like a traditional curry and sometimes the Naan has been a bit dry or overcooked.
Top Picks:
- Onion Bhaji (If you like the battered flakes type Bhaji - Not balls)
- Chicken Tikka Masala
- Chicken Korma
- Chicken Jalfrezi
- Peshawari Beef
- Chicken Saag
Hesitant picks:
- Butter Chicken (too sweet and watery - might of been a one off from my experience)
- Chicken Madras (watery - might of been a one off from my experience)
A perfect Indian takeaway for higher taste and quality. I’ve been having different dishes such as chef’s special vege, Chicken Kadhai, Chicken do pyaza and Dal tadka, Just delicious to the next level. The best Indian takeaway for foodie. Keep it up guys. You’re doing awesome job.
