Well, my mum and her extremely well-travelled boyfriend were gushing super hard all the way home. We had the scallops, salt and pepper squid and crackled pork belly and they were divine. The manager himself waited our table expertly and his recommendations were very valuable.
I will be returning with more people next time. The menu is extensive (110 items?) and the drinks options outshined many bars in Wellington.
A++ place. There is also karaoke. ;)
Amazing food truely love it ....
Pork n chive dumplings
Pork wontons in chilli oil..
Will recommend to come n enjoy ...
The food and service is so good that my friends and I go there regularly.
Luv it
Great food for a good price, my favourite lunch place in Welly.
Great food, excellent service and fantastic atmesphere! A must go back restaurant.
Brilliant food great friendly service
Would recommend to anyone wanting to try something different
We booked a table for 6. Had our drinks order immediately. The entrees were large and tasted great. The mains were served promptly and we're delicious. We took a big bag of leftovers home. The service was great.
We will be back.
Fantastic spot, amazing food, great company and atmosphere.
We were a bit disappointed that the duck and seafood dishes were not available as part of a deal. The positive is that there is plenty of other dishes to choose from. The dishes are very large so it’s best that you come with an empty stomach. The food was adequate however we found one dish (the stir fried shredded pork with egg, cucumber and black fungus) was a bit salty. We also found that this dish had too way too many pork and not enough cucumber and black fungus. This is good for all the meat lovers.
The service was good and friendly and our food came out promptly. The staff even allowed us to finish our entree before they bought out the main meals.
We would come back and try the other large variety of dishes.
My workmates and I went here as recommended by my daughter
It was very busy and the staff were very friendly
The food was very nice and they had big portions
I had the BBQ Pork on Rice and Chicken Chow Mein
Karaoke was awesome
We will definitely come back
Amazing! Came here for a friend's surprise birthday dinner a few weeks ago and I loved it! The food is amazing and is high in quality and quantity, especially for the price. The karaoke was so much fun! Definitely recommend
BYO...Check! Karaoke...Check! Wellington on a Plate Item...No Check. Two out of three ain't bad and it's not as if the W.O.A.P burger was bad, it just wasn't very inventive and it also wasn't very good (Pork Belly Bao Bun in case you were wondering). I haven't tried their regular menu but I hope too shortly because the Karaoke is a sight to behold. This bustling Wellington hotspot is a true delight when 50 or so people get up to belt out the chorus of 'Sweet Caroline' at around 10pm every Friday and Saturday night.
Just back from a great night out.
Red Mount was recommended to us from some good friends and now its my time to pass on that recommendation.
They have a great selection of beers for a Chinese restaurant, so we just "had" to get the on tap special :)
I got the pork ribs, de-lish! Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle.
Wife got the Chicken, ginger and spring onion, a classic for a reason and this was yummy (I stole a bit).
Really nice to meet you Clayton, see you again soon!
Tonight was my second dining experience at Red Mount, one of Wellington's newest Chinese restaurants. Both times I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and friendly service. Co-owner, Clayton, is wonderfully welcoming and accomodation to special needs. I guess I've gotten use to the many mediocre Chinese places. This is a refreshing change.
The homemade dumpling are outstanding! Large plump and served slightly crispy (nice change). The wonton in chilli oil are also worth trying (soft and deliciously delicate).
The eggplant dishes are amazing. As was the map tofu. I also liked the szechuan chicken. The menu is huge but I haven't had a dish that I couldn't recommend.
Also big bonus is the beer and wine selection. Very good for this sort of etablishment. We've also enjoyed the big screen to watch rugby (for our guests who didnt want to miss the games) and karaoke which starts around 9pm Fri and Saturdays.
Overall....a really great place to bring groups or have a casual date night!
We got a GrabOne deal to try this place out, which is in the old Taphaus site.
The staff were really friendly, and explained straight away what the voucher covered so there was no surprises.
The food was great – especially the deep fried tofu and garlic prawn entrees, and the aubergine and chicken main! We were a bit disappointed there was no duck on the menu, but there’s apparently plans in the works. They just need to get the right oven. They also have a good wine list (unusual in a Wellington Chinese restaurant).
At 9:30pm the place turns into a karaoke bar restaurant, so you’ll want to time your visit to miss or hit it. The karaoke selection is pretty modern, with actual music videos instead of cheesy stock videos so it’s worth making a night of it!
