Amazing atmosphere and great look from top to bottom. Attentive service from the start did relax a little towards the end. Great price range, something for everyone, don't have to break the bank to have a beautiful meal.
4.5 stars
We went to Master Kong in February for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We had a great time. The food and service were great. There were four of us, so we decided to try Banquet 1. We were not disappointed. We planned to try Banquet 2 next time. đ
We ordered entree, mains, desserts and coctails and we were not disappointed. All had delish flavours but standout was beef tÄtaki, beef short ribs with duckfat rice and the sizzling banana caramel dessert. Ambience was great staff on the night were chill and helpful.
Master Kong is a great place to go for dinner.
They have a good range of cocktails including taptails, which are a little cheaper but were really tasty.
The small plates are actually pretty big and filling, we got 3 of them between two of us and that was plenty of food. It would be a great place to go with a larger group of people.
I would definitely go back.
I was always a Wagamama fan when it was here and was eager to try Master Kong having heard good things.
The food was flavourful and fiery at times (Firecracker Chicken!!!) đ„” be careful with that unless you have a serious spice tolerance. I thought I did but was ultimately defeated by this dish.
We went on a Thursday at 4.30 so were able to get $2 dumplings. Don't be shy with these, order a bunch. They come with delicious garnish and sauce (pictured).
The prices for mains are quite steep $25 - $45.
'Taptails' were pretty good as well and nicely presented.
Absolutely amazing! Was a recommendation and so glad I listened to it! It was honestly delicious from the first bite! Even their cocktails were great!
There is a bit of a spicy kick to a lot of their food items, but definitely not a lot. They do warn you on what the spice levels are, but one of our party noticed it on other dishes that weren't labeled with spice levels .
A well laid out and decadent restaurant.
I had chosen a Pork Belly Mee Goreng, it was delicious, the pork was melt in your mouth and the noodles were impeccable in a beautiful sauce.
The price was understandable for the quality of the dish and the atmosphere inside. This was a unique experience that I will be sure to enjoy again.
Service was very fast. From table allocated through to our entrée & mains on our table - 16 minutes. Only a quarter through my beer before food arrived! Helpful waiters. Very moody atmosphere, perfect to start to a night out with wifey. Will definitely be back again soon.
We can't resist a good flambé & the flambé banana with latik coconut caramel & ice cream at Master Kong is perfectly decadent. We've been several times now - for drinks, small bites, lunch, dinner, with a group, as a couple - always knowing to expect a varied Asian-fusion menu & consistently good food. Pictured include the excellent Korean Fried Cauliflower, spicy jackfruit bao, creamy mushroom dumplings, chili oil edamame & refreshing Kong Lager by Fortune Favours.
Such a great experience at Master Kong. We had the Kongcha and loved the cocktails and food. So yum. We will be back
We booked for an early dinner on Tuesday 26th Oct, to catch up with family who were traveling from overseas. We were seated promptly, and orders taken quickly. Staff were excellent and attentive - I wish I'd got some names to give them a shout out. The food was excellent - It arrives to the table as it's ready, however this was made clear to us before we ordered so we ordered with sharing in mind. The bill came to roughly $40 per person for 6 people. Can't fault the place, we'll be back!
Food was fantastic, as always. We were in a separate room, which was lovely. The service was a bit slow however - we had to order drinks twice, and they didn't arrive until the middle of the meal....
Always keen to try a Yum Cha spot! Here they offer a bottomless experience which was well orchestrated and thoughtful! The food was lovely and had good variety. The Dim Sum were my favorites along with the charred edamame and tossed greens. The other meals didn't surprise me with the flavor, nothing really bold.
I do recommended the food & drink bundle as you get a wide selection of nice cocktails, mocktails, teas, coffees. The coffee machine was out of order so I enjoyed a few King Cobras!
Excellent service, kind smiley staff and family friendly clean facilities.
How about that decor! Lots of efforts put in to make us feel in another continent!
Will be returning for sure!
Have been aiming to eat here again since I first visited about two years ago.
Ordered a wide array of dishes, much more than we needed for our table of two but it was all great.
Edamame was fried and full of rich burnt buttery flavour (amazing). Roundhouse chicken salad, Pimiento wontons & Bok Choy dumplings were all favourites - the chicken salad was particularly filling & flavourful. The karaage chicken bao was super soft & exactly as youâd expect, & the ceviche was so yummy and spicy but we didnât expect the fish to be 5 simple slices which made for awkward sharing. Duck fat rice was great value but we were far too full to properly enjoy it, and if I we did the whole thing again the one plate I would forfeit was the Kare Rice which when compared to the Roundhouse salad & ceviche unfortunately seemed to lack as much flavour - but portion was generous & we still took it home for leftovers as lunch.
Our server was absolutely amazing & really took care of us during our dining experience. The food was divine! Totally recommend.
Delicious pre WOW dinner. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Cocktails were great but slightly limited on the menu as was soft drink options. Food came quickly and was delicious! Sizing allows for sharing and everything we tried was delicious.
Itâs sooooo good! We have stayed in Wellington for 4 days and itâs the best restaurant weâve tried.
Highly recommend the Wagyu beef and Chicken Bao Buns!
The environment is really nice, and people there are quite friendly. We are happy that we made the good choice for the dinner of our last day staying in Wellington. đ
