Came for dinner on Thursday night - the food was delicious and the service was great, the guys were really friendly. We ordered the banquet (two starters and four mains) for $35 each - great value, good deals on wine as well.
Delicious Indian meal. Balti chicken and lamb Swagat were superb. Chili cheese naan a standout, was so yum.
Honestly, hands down the best Indian food I have ever had!!! Everything was completely delicious and the potions were a great size. I very rarely leave a review but OMG!!! YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE!!

Have to agree, best Indian in Wellington. Beautifully presented too even as a takeaway with lovely garnish. They went to effort to make sure we had meals that were gluten free and vegan for some of the meals, called twice to make sure. Taste was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
Came here on Monday evening for work purposes. Everything about the experience was five star from the food to the service and in particular the staff who were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Would fully recommend the restaurant to anyone an awesome experience.
Have only ever had takeaway but would like to note that they really put effort into presentation even in take out form! Always super tasty and filling - feels like eating a home cooked meal made with love.

the loveliest staff ever, we made a mistake in our order and they gave us what we forgot to order in ten minutes during rush hour on a Friday night! Consistently great food, full of flavour and true to their spice levels, fast service for how busy they get and awesome website with a pre-order option! LOVE these guys they deserve all the attention and praise.
We decided to support local and go to Swagat India for our engagement dinner and they absolutely came through for us! They were friendly, could not do enough and were so kind. Jaspreet Kaur the manager was an absolute star. Food was plentiful and delicious, she picked up the mood of the event easily and made everyone feel welcome. Our friends with dietary requirements were not made to feel like burdens like a lot of other places and even commented upon leaving that they felt this place actually cared and took the time to ensure things were safe. The buffet was AMAZING. Our friends who don’t like Indian food even loved it! Cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you for giving us an engagement dinner with no hiccups and a great atmosphere. Best Indian in Wellington and they do events with ease.
Very reasonable prices. They made our veg korma vegan upon request which was awesome. The mix of vegetables in the curry was a little strange though, the celery didn't really work well. Would probably order from here again.
We had dinner here on Saturday night after the movies nearby. The staff were very helpful and recommended something I hadn't tried before. The food was delicious and was washed down with a locally brewed craft beer. All of our group enjoyed their meals so much that no one wanted to share. Will have to go again soon
Swagat has such a diverse menu, friendly service and tasty well sized portions. Have been coming here for years and I find this is one of the best places to bring family and friends at short notice.
Well,i am a local and had never tried this place, but after a less than happy experience down the road i gave it a shot.
I have just had the most beautiful aromatic Chicken Korma from Swagat India. I am a fan of both Madras and Korma flavors and this was simply the best i have ever had, period. Blew me away. Excited to work through the menu myself now, thank you, keep it up!
